  1. Aplastic anemia is a life-threatening illness that can affect a variety of animals including ferrets. Affecting only female ferrets (jills), this disorder occurs when the ferret is in season or in heat for an extended amount of time. These estrogen levels inhibit the bone marrow from generating enough red and white blood cells and platelets leading to anemia and infections. A lower platelet level can also cause bleeding internally. During the heat cycle, estrogen levels are raised and do not begin to fall until she has either become pregnant, experiences a false pregnancy, or has been g
  2. and did yours die due to it probably not, its an old wives tale that "THEY WILL DIE" but as already stated, a jill in season throughout summer, combined with dirty cage floors only spells trouble, and a swollen vulva ia a good entry point for infection sounds like you have a little chip on your shoulder, instead you should try being the better person, Ive taken loads of new members out to permissions, never to get return invites, but I dont slate them for it what did he do different to get all this permission, that you did'nt do Stubby mate, I lost a Jill quite a few years ago
  3. Feckin hell thought you'd packed up and taken up golf GOLF!!!! nah, waste of a good walk, big freeze killed off the permissions and roads in and out were closed so I sort of lost interest, had a few personal problems to sort out and now getting interest back just at the wrong time of year as i fish for carp when ferreting season is finished

  9. What's going on in the world of ferreting then? not been around for quite some time, been trying to sort my life out and now things are getting back on track i'm looking to get out and do some ferreting at some point, I'm also looking to move away from the north-east at some point this year and probably moving to the north lincolnshire/barrow area, anyone on here from this area looking for a partner when I get moved until I get a chance to knock some doors of my own? Hope 2010 is going ok for you all
  10. I've seen people at my local clay pigeon club shooting .410's atclays as good as anyone has been with a 12 bore, i was amazed myself when i saw it and to be honest i had a little laugh to myself before he fired the first shots. dunno what gun or cartridges he was using but it did the job, dunno how it would cope on live game though...
  11. Notice how I don't get a invite
  12. Knock on doors mate and keep knocking, We have just got another 100 acres by a pure fluke, driving past some fields really slowly and looking at the amount of rabbits in it, a woman stopped and asked if we were lost and we just said we were looking at the rabbits and for some new permission, luckily the lady who stopped was the land owner and she said we can go on whenever we want and get rid of the rabbits any way we want but we had to get rid of the ones in her garden first haha
  13. I've bolted a rabbit years ago when I was about 14 it ran accross the field and went into the river where it tried to swim upstream, obviously it got nowhere so my mate shot it in the middle of the river with his old bsa supersport haha
  14. It's always sooooo funny when a rabbit backnets itself, especially when it gets out from a sly bolthole then flies down a netted hole haha. it must be thinking "BUGGER" thought i got away there never backnetted 2 at once though, but i suppose it's like getting 2 pigeons with one cartridge when out shooting
  15. used .22 CCI Shotshells many years ago in the barns for rats, unless at point blank range they were useless haha
