  1. shame they cant be forced to make a public apology and correction. Surely something can be done when as much of it is lies
  2. cheers mate, he had said he didnt like BIG lurchers which is why i got the whippet cross i did and when i asked to bring him he again said he didnt like big lurchers and i told him it was a whippet cross etc, he then said i could bring him in certain fields and not to block the sheep in a corner etc but iv been told from a 3rd party he doesnt want the dog and was just meaning to bring him to walk etc... i will ask him again when i see him in september when i start ferreting but was hoping to meet some local lads and meet up and meybe take the dogs out
  3. Dont worry mate i can see where youre coming from. i been ferreting there for about 3 year now and i asked the farmer if i was ok to bring the dog and told him i would bring him and make sure he was 100% with sheep etc and keep him on the lead until i was sure, but seems as if he took it as " can i bring the dog for a WALK here and KEEP him on the lead" as i said i will ask again when i see him but my permission is about an hour and a half drive and is only for ferreting. I was basically wanting to meet some local people who work there dogs, even if it was just to take the dogs for good walks
  4. So you basically want someone to use their ground to train your dog??? Good luck. Not at all, i would be quite happy to leave the dog at home , of course it would be an advantage if i could bring him along but i just want to get out and see dogs working and meet new people. in all honesty i thought i could take my dog ferreting with me but looks like i misunderstood the landowner or he misunderstood me when i was asking, although i will ask again when i see him. Even if i was just meeting people and taking the dogs for a good walk, just want to get out and socialise with decent peo
  5. This is a massive stab in the dark but i was just wondering (or hoping) there is someone in the north east (preferable sunderand area) wanting a lamping/hunting partner. I would be more than happy just to take dogs out for walk or something until we get to know each other. I only have a lurcher pup at the moment but would like to bring him on with the help of someone. I cant return the favour at the moment as i only have ferreting permission where i have been firmly told i cant bring anyone else. I am 20 and have my own transport. I know this is a stab in the dark but as they say 'he who dares
  6. At 18.5" at 5 month i would guess its goin to be closer to 23" tts than 19", i think my beddy grey x whippet was smaller than that at that age and has made just over 22" tts
  7. 7 weeks; and now at 11 month: Bedlington Greyhound x Whippet 22" tts
  8. Think he was talking about the k9 transport but its not there any more. Something to do with him being a peodo http://www.thehuntinglife.com/forums/topic/160190-k9-transport/ http://www.thehuntinglife.com/forums/topic/165194-transport-man/page__p__1668016__hl__transport__fromsearch__1#entry1668016 Not sure who they advise to use now.
  9. Only fished for small fish aswell but got talking to a local turk who told me they use either raw chicken or bread, tried both and caught plenty but nothing big. did try off a boat aswell (just the general boat trip, not realy for fishing) and caught the same small fish. But good look anyway
  10. Heres a few pages that have been done before on them, not too much on them but a start http://www.thehuntinglife.com/forums/topic/147286-doberman-x-bullgreyxwhipcoll-pups/page__p__1489040__hl__doberman__fromsearch__1#entry1489040 http://www.thehuntinglife.com/forums/topic/137773-hi-anyone-worked-a-doberman-x-lurcher/page__p__1399436__hl__doberman__fromsearch__1#entry1399436
  11. same size as what mine was at that age and hes now just over 22 tts at 10 month
  12. When off the lead my pup always wants to be well ahead running about, but all the other lurchers ive been around have always stayed fairly close. Is this something that will come with age or is it the way the dog will be?
  13. Good pics, whats the dog liked with rabbits after its had rats? is it hard mouthed or not?
  14. Thinking of getting myself a lamp ready for when the season starts going to get the lightforce striker hopefully with the lithium battery. Just wondered whether its worth the extra money for the variable power?
  15. Thanks for that, he does seem to get better, some days even perfect then another day he just completely ignores me, or when i shout runs 100mph to me but then straight past and keeps running back and forwards which is probably the most frustrating of all. Also he still keeps biting hands when hes playin, hes defo playin as he wags his tail but cant seem to stop him, if i shout he barks and thinks its all part of the game and any movement makes him think im playing back and makes his bite harder. I try putting him out in the kennel for 10 mins which does calm him down but doesnt stop him do
  16. Thanks for all the replies and if im honest they were the ones i was looking for. Realy didnt want to get him done but the better half was convinced it would make the "perfect" dog overnight, or so she had been told. As for the long rope i did try but he kept getting it wrapped around his legs and running 100mph to the end. using an extendable lead at the minute which is 8m long. Seems to be gettin better. Do you think 8m is long enough and how good should i expect his recall to be at 10 month? should he be coming back as soon as a shout or will all puppies ignore you now and again?
  17. Just wondering if dogs that have been castrated will work any differently to dogs that are intact. My pup is coming up 10 month and can be a right pain and just wont back down if you try and tell it off. Some people say he will grow out of it and hes just a pup but others say to get him castrated and say it "works wonders". Not somethin i want to do apart from a last resort but just wonders if it would have any negative effects.
  18. How do they no which dogs are insured? when i got my insurance all they asked was the breed and age. Could you not just say its one of the other dogs?
  19. Photobucket is a website, or if you prefered you could resize them on http://www.picresize.com/ then post them on here, whichever you find easier

  21. Couldnt of put it better me self, thats exactly what its like
  22. Thanks will try everything suggested. just thought by 8 month he should be getting somewhere, worst thing is some days he's perfect with recall then others he completely ignores me. Retrieve is also realy bad, he will do it in a confined space i.e. corridoor but anywhere else he just runs off with it.
  23. Pup 8 month now, bedlington whippet grey, and recall just isnt what i was hoping for. With his fav treats i.e. bits of meat he is great but as soon as they go or something better comes up he does his own thing. Read somewhere to train with a long lead so just wondered how to go about it. Also any tips on training retrieve will be much appreciated. he will do it in a corridoor where he has to pass me or for more meat but anywhere else he just runs off with it.
  24. Have you still got the scope? If you have ill have it
  25. well nothing happened again today so looking like a phantom. How long will it be til she comes back into heat and could it be the hob not producing the goods as he's about 6 year old? I would like to use the same hob but is it a lost cause?
