  1. Heres mine, 8 weeks old beddy greyhound x whippet
  2. Been feeding my new pup (8 weeks old today) a mix of dry and tinned puupy food and raw rabbit and tripe. Whenever fed dry or tinned food its sh.t is fine but when ever its given tripe or rabbit it seems v soft, it was being fed tripe before i got it and he certainly seems to prefer the raw food. Does it just take time to get used to it or should i be waiting til its older to give it raw food? Been reading the BARF diet and sounds as if its ok but just cant understand why its pooh goes soft.
  3. Look in the countrymans weekly, often in there. Think there was some in this weeks.
  4. Well thanks for all the replies, all appreciated. Ended up going with my heart and just put a deposit down on a beddy greyhound x whippet. brindle and white. seller showed pics of parents working and looks to be from good working parents, whippet sooty sam lines etc...
  5. Seen some pups in for sale.. the dam is beddy greyhound and sire is working whippet... what you's think? what height would you expect them to make?
  6. Well just got permission off the landlord to get a dog (took a while) now need to decide what i want. Been thinking for a long time but still cant decide. It will be mainly used for rabbits ferreting and lamping but would like somethin that could maybe take the odd charlie and long ear if the ban was ever lifted. The dog must be small around 21-22" Im thinking either: 1/2 cross beddy whippet 3/4 whippet 1/4 beddy or 1/2 whippet 1/4 beddy 1/4 grey The ground is quite hard where i ferret so will need something with good feet. What would your choice be? Realy cant decide, a
  7. Interested in hearing whats said here, hoping to get a beddy whippet in the near future but still cant decide on 1/2 cross or 3/4 bred dog.
  8. Cheers for the help, What difference does it make the mother being the beddy and is it better to get a first cross or beddy whippet x beddy whippet.
  9. Is there any lurcher pups left and have you got any pics of the broken coated ones?
  10. i`ll second your choice mate Was wondering whether is was worth considerin a beddy/GH/Whippet or just sticking to the beddy whippet? what would the Gh add?
  11. Cheers, wasnt sure whether they could take bigger stuff or whether they were too small.
  12. Had my heart set on a beddy whippet but went out lamping with a friend for the first time last night and loved it. Still need a relatively small dog, im thinking around 21/22". The dog will be mainly used for ferreting and lamping rabbits but would like something that could retrieve bigger stuff on occasions. Would a dog of this size be ok on the lamp and what cross would you suggest?
  13. yeah the new collars work fine with the old boxes, old box switches it on and off
  14. Best of luck selling this pup, wanted him from the beginning but landlord wouldnt allow it. guttered.
  15. Main reason for wanting a cross is that iv heard whippets suffer from the weather and its often cold and windy on my permisson as its on quite high ground. As for size i would like something around 20" tts or at least under 22". Was thinking of 3/4 whippet with ether 1/4 bedlington or collie or something like that. Also, do short haired lurchers suffer when the weather is bad?
  16. Thanks for all the replies, would probably prefer the terrier base but was just unsure how hard they would be to train. Yeah i do generally get good numbers on the permission i have but like the idea of having a dog working along side me. The only reason i need a small dog is because on the permission i have iv been told that they dont like "big" dogs but a terrier would be ok but was realy wanting a running dog. Therefor with a small lurcher i thought i would have more chance and something around 20" or at least under 22" would be my choice. And yes it would be a pup im after for next seaso
  17. Hoping to get a lurcher in the near future for ferreting. I know everyone seems to like bedlington whippets but was just wondering what they are like for training as this will be my first dog or would a collie whippet cross be more suitable? Dog needs to be small which is the reason for whippet crosses.
  18. Personally i prefer the normal mk3.. no chance of putting a ferret down without it switched on. you do remeber after the first time forgetting but theres bound to be a time i do it again.
  19. hes about 4 year old now, was fine until i gave him dry. all the other 3 have stopped the same just this one. al start feeding him more rabbit and see if that works. he still works well but you can hear him breathin now and thought it might be better if he looses a bit weight
  20. Started feeding my ferrets dry food about a year ago and me smallest hob has ballooned. used to be very small (smaller than my jills) but since i started given them dry hes went huge (fat). The other 3 seem fine and just eat when they are hungry usually leaving it when i first put it in but this one just seems to eat straight away. would he be likely to loose weight if i started feeding rabbit more than dry food or would i have to seperate him and feed him less til he looses some weight?
  21. Best of look, i got some permission beginning of the season where i was told ther was "1000's" of rabbits and i couldnt fail. got there and there wasnt a set in miles. to say i was guttered is an understatement. Hope it turns out well for ya!
