  1. Do you rekon they tell me what shoot that was... i'd like to get me a bit of that. i think the worst thing is that they are offering to "TEACH" school aged children, now that sound like indoctrination and well shouldnt be accepted no matter what the topic is. i think we should start a society to get rid of this sort of moronic, uninformed, madness that is this sort micky mouse save the foxy woxys club, any one agree?
  2. cheers ian, should be all systems go end of the month. just got to sweeten up one or two more land owners.
  3. Well i've just breasted a duck that i shot and has been hanging a two or three days and goin to fry it off with honey and stuff ...yum!
  4. Cheers lads, this particular peice of land is passed upto .223 so thats ok. Do i put donw land on the application that i know hasnt been passed?
  5. One of the peices of land i have gained permission to use a .22lr when i get one, has a few more people who have it on their license. the farmer he has an open so dont know if it counts to this, one guy may have a open .17hmr not sure (but i know him very well, and hes agreed to be a referee) the other 2 i know but the last time they shot the land was about 3 years ago ( i wouldnt trust either with a spud gun let alone rifles but there you go). so to sumarise the only people who shoot their regulary is either the famer or me when he takes me out. would the other people reduce my chance of get
  6. I use Express super twenty game fibre no.5, Eley grand prix bismuth no.5 for ducks and geese (both 20 bore) express 3" no.6 .410 and when i get a chance to go out with the keeper i use eley sub sonic in .22lr ( i dont have enough experience with rimfires but they get the job done with rarely a miss at what raqnge i shoot upto 80yrds) not really on subject but air rifle .22 accupell or bisley magnum/pest control for close stuff
  7. Completely agree. if you want to shoot birds do it when they are perched (baring in mind there is enough wood in the way to stop a pellet if you miss) or put out decoys in the slim hope one will land in the pattern, other than that get yourself a shotgun.
  8. When you say informally do you mean just slip it in like "what would the chance of gettind an open ticket be" (any better ways of asking slyly would be much appreiciated as thats pretty naff!) Im a fairly mature lad ...well i can act mature at least. much apprieiated deker. im off bed got to feed one shoot then beatin on another in 6 hours time fun fun fun!
  9. Theres a few about but not as many as previous years in my opinion, we fed a small river with chopped up browning bannas we got from a green grocer mate, seem to like em. blooming loads of jack snipe and woodcock mind,
  10. One of the places who wants me already to shoot a few foxes, want them gone, but their words " I dont want anything blown up and all hanging off" (fair doos i suppose if they are kind enough to gove me the permission) but would a shot to heat/lungs look less "grizzly" for a better word? or was this just close rangeish?? It funny i know but that the reason i'm not going for a .243.
  11. Just another story im afriad My dad came home to find the door locked from inside and a van parked acroos our drive, assumin a burglar was inside he picked up a chunk of wood to defend himself only being a little guy, fortunatly the robbers shat 'em selves at being interupted and legged it out. when police came they saw the peice of wood and started questioning what it was intended for, my dad said "well..to whack em if i coaught them" he was promptly given a lectur on how this is the "wrong thing to do". And i thought the law was in place to protect people like us and our possessions, o
  12. The only bird your allowed to lamp, its really effective asweel especially in barns and stuf...not sportin mind.
  13. Thanks alot mate, i love those unassumin shops
  14. Cheers mate if you could, it wont be for a few months while i get money sorted and the paperwork butr much apprieated. i always had the idea of doin bit of traveling becuase i think my local is a pretty bad rip of merchant and to be honest the only reason i use him is the next closest is Essex guns which is still few mile away but damn sight cheaper.
  15. When you say easy to fit you mean even a fool like me can fit it? i was thinking about getting a trigger kit anyway so one i can do myself will be the ticket
  16. Most of mine will be walking with lil bit now and then from the back of the 4x4. Which is cheaper in the case they are pretty damn close. i got given a quote for £370 for the cheaper one of the two (cant remember which) does this sound dear??
  17. I know hes got a massive safe where he keeps the shotguns cartridges and explosives and other dngerous what not. i'll ask him when i next down there.
  18. Blast! i was so happy thinking i've made my mind up with gariels post. i think the best idea is speak to the local gun shop and see what he says bout him stocking the hornet ammo, but theres talk of him closing down in the new year sooo. (means a 30 miles round trip otherwise) on a tangent does anyone know if theres a different licence to sell rifle ammo than shotgun cartridges??? if not i can sweet talk the manager of the farm supplies shop to get me in some.
  19. I been looking at these two rifles and cant seem to make my mind up, so...down to you guys, could you tell the pros and cons of any of the two it would be much apreiciated. oh and if any of you have either could you tell me what they are like? many thanks guys and girls.
  20. Thanks claybuster..i was starting to think no one would reply . Would shooting alongside it be ok as long as a back drop and no trains?? or is it rule that you cant be within 50ft like it is with roads? This peice of land is a strawberry farm so you can imagine how much damage the bliters do to the farmers crop. Its a fairly new peice of permission (shotgun/air rifle/ferrets) so hopefully the farmer will be ok when i ask to use a rimfire (im only 17 so getting people to trust me is tricky) and sort them out good n' proper.
  21. £50! thats cheap for them i've seen them up for triple figures if its the same one. when i get my rimfire i'll be very intrested in one. Would you mind if i PM you when the time comes spike???
  22. I got a fair few hundred acres thats got some good back drops so it should be good for an FAC, but a railwayline runs down one side of it, whats the law about guns and railway lines? I dont go near it with the gun just to keep out of prying eyes and its mainly good for ferrets. would this be a problem when i ask the FEO to check it out?
