  1. In terms of hardness, would agree with that. Most work with dogs is as much to do with the dog as it is to do with the owner and obviously some are far more skilled than others. FTB
  2. I'd say woodcock shot while flighting at dawn/dusk are the easiest woodcock you will ever shoot. Disagree there mate. Look at their eyes, they see better in dark/fadeing light. FTB
  3. at 2 nd half thats a year nd half maybe more working,if you feel he is 100% game. then why not use him they never get ungame only over faced, No its one and a bit seasons...if he has been fortunate. There is only so much a dog can see in that time unless he is a summer hunter. Most dogs that work this game have only one good season behind them at 3 years old. FTB
  4. Flighting woodcock at Dusk takes some beating. For any keen shots who have never tried it, I suggest you should. Driven Grouse is an art to perfect, seen some awesome shots over the years(Sir Edward Dashwood being the best Ive seen). Snaring and trapping require an element of skill as well as practice (not everyone is good at it). FTB
  5. Most Grouse keepers I know turn a blind eye to lads out doing a bit, as long as they are out daytime and stay away from the hill. Pheasant is different for obvious reasons. Guys need to remember that the keepers have a job to do, and if you are stupid enough to get caught then you should accept the consequences. They dont choose to be chasing people about at all hours, I am sure they would prefer to be at home with their families. Pople should also try knocking the door first, you would be amazed the amount of time you get on (if you agree to work for it), and if not you have lost
  6. True saying - 'money is the route of all evil'. You must have his adress mate? Go and pay him a visit.Good luck. FTB
  7. I agree with shroom. I would do some digging and find out if he had it PTS or sold it on. There is every chance It could be the latter. Either way he is due a visit. Whenever you are gifted a dog, you should always adhere to the conditions and if you can't meet them then don't take it or suffer the consequences. FTB
  8. Is this only applicable if you are driving fields without permission? FTB
  9. That's shocking mate. Really bad. 9 times out of 10 I am a good judge of character but there are times you make mistakes. FTB
  10. Personally I would rather risk loosing the dog than risk breeding of a sub standard dog. But hey, its not mine and who am I to judge. If RFYL is desperate for a pup of it then its his choice. FTB
  11. Aye but pleanty of dogs do the job for a bit but can't take the strain in the long term. Does that make them worthy of breeding? I've a three year old bitch here doing everything she is asked to and more but won't even consider lining her for a few seasons yet. FTB
  12. Horrible race of people. Really backwards and uncivilized. Only one step up from monkeys in trees throwing their crap at each other. That should get them going. FTB
  13. Lol. Might as well gas axe the door off if he needs to fit his arm in. Try a coat hanger first then probably have to result to a glasgow-key (brick). Cheers for the help anyway. FTB
  14. Agree 100% This forum is just that , a forum. No one is a mind reader and as far as I'm aware there are no vets on here. FTB
  15. Don't think it has electric mirrors, knowing my pal it will be poverty spec. But a pretty cool trick if it works FTB
  16. pikeys again is it ftb :wankerzo4: ............................... smash window pal central locking he dont wont to be messing with he door lock (Joke) FTB
  17. Hopefully someone can help. Where are these pikeys when you need them eh? FTB
  18. 52 plate, pretty sure it will have central locking. Local dealer said he has to trace back to where the van originally came from before he can get a replacement key I just told him if he is going to crack a window, make it the passanger side to limit the draft FTB
  19. What is the cheapest way of getting into a vehicle that has your keys in the ignition Friend of mine has got his keys stuck in a transit connect van. Smashing the window is last option for obvious reasons. FTB
  20. Spaniels are easy to work with, if they are working FOR YOU. The moment you have lost it is when they decide to work for themselves. Basic obedience is very easy when done correct. The hardest part of spaniel training is teaching them to be steady to flush and hunt, once thats mastered you have cracked it (well 9 times out of 10). Once they learn how to run in it is very hard to reverse it, it's like their ultimate reward. My advice is buy a good book and study it now(i would recomend spaniel training by joe irvine, you can have my copy if you want it, PM me), put in the founda
  21. You need to upload them to a site such as photobucket, then copy and paste the 'http' link thing. FTB
  22. You where 15 years out.think about it. "Please let us not fight amongst ourselves" - not my words, Mel Gibsons in the film Braveheart. FTB
  23. yer and you the biggest of the lot Well I am glad you racked your brains to come up with that one. Thankyou, it is very constructive. FTB
  24. I didn't start this thread for a rammy intentionally, but it has definately went that way. If you cant beat them you may aswell join them FTB
