either that or save yourself however much per peg and hank the nets up on mini end pins made from some scrap 6mm steel and use a couple of hazel pegs which are completely free. this is what i do and they are great, save your ass when one slips a purse net thats for sure. oh yeah tying in the bagging if you hank onto endpins makes life much easier. atb rob

ok , cleaned the cylinder and piston today and slightly over oiled, bit of smoke came out . anyway from what i can see the spring is buggered as it is all warped and the guide which its sits on needs some tlc. i was wondering what kind of power the ox spring ft/lbs wise would give in the meteor(.22, or if i put the .177 in the .22) and if it was worth spending the money on for a hunting tool. i also sanded and oiled the stock a couple of times with linseed oil and it looks awesome (so much so im considering doing it to my hw90 stock). it will ideally need a new spring and guide but i

not sure it can really be cheaper as the last 2 months for my pups food cost me £15 which is cock all really. i have a bit of a problem with my pup, he gets a shitty tummy really easy and bad when ypou give him bones because he eats the whole bloody thing, i dont know if this would eleviate after a couple of days? do you guys feed raw rabbit or not? and how do you work it out so cheaply? thanks rob

after reading jasper 65's post on reviving his old springer i have been inspired; i have a beaten up old bsa meteor in the shed which i was iven in bits and duly put back together. it is a great little plinker but needs some tlc. list of problem: stock is stratched to buggery, needs i think sanding down and oiling. but im not sure of the process or the best oil. the reciol pad falls off so needs gluing with something (best glue anyone?) the breech of the barrel is quite loose, that is the pellet goes in a fair way, is this normal with meteors? the breech also looks like it need

the problem with getting the gun that fits you best is you sometimes end up spending more lol. i got my first shotty the other day same budget as you but i ended up spending £500 (it was meant to be £600 but i was stubborn) on a perfectly fitting, professionaly reconditioned, fixed choke, over under berretta. its so gorgeous, i feel guilty using it. not that it stopped me being out all day today trying desperately to find some woodies. atb rob

does anyone feed their gundogs on raw meaty bones or BARF diets? i am interested to see if this would be an appropriate changefor my pup or if the feeding of raw game would be detrimental in his working performance eg. desire to give up game on the retrieve. he is currently being fed on a complete puppy food (alpha sporting puppy) with a bit of fruit and veg and some cooked meat, so far lamb and rabbit thanks in advance atb rob

BARF vs raw meaty bones

thankyou very much for your help rainmaker , this section does seem to be really good for information without abuse and name calling which is a nice change. i will carry on the work the food gaurding but i think i may have an issue with meaty bones; every time he get a meaty bone to chews it right up everything gone and then he gets the squirts really light coloured and bad. i cant afford to feed fully and BARF or whatever the technical name is so i want to do it supplementary as well and dry. is raw mince without the bones ok mixed with his complete dry or with rice/pasta because i kn -
? he's gone what on earth was that all about? and when we were out lamping the other day my mate had some plastic wads and he shot a rabbit at 20yards when i picked it up it was a cracking shot (most of the spread in the head) but it had the wad in its shoulder. nice!!

BARF vs raw meaty bones
ellir0305 replied to driller killer's topic in Working Dog Health & Training Talk
we slaughtered our lambs today so there will be plenty of meat for the dog in scraps and bones but there were a pair of loppers covered in blood (used for taking the legs and head off) by the door earlier, my dog starting sniffing and licking them, when i told him to leave he ignored me which isnt normal, then i tried to move him away and he growled and fully went for me, luckily he only young so didnt cause any damage, but a firm no and a smacked bum put him pack in his docile submisive state. an old bloke told me not to feed raw as it made dogs revert to wild insticts, and i ignored the -
im in the same situation as you a few weeks further advanced (14weeks old springer/collie) i had a long thread a while back before i got the dog which might be useful to you if you can find it with trhe search function. as a very general rule formal training starts around six months onward so a while yet. but my advice to you from my recent experiences is walk and play with the pup as much as possible to create a strong bond, take it slow and let the pup like the lead, dont be heavy handed it takes a long time to correct. get some good books from the library (you will often need to order t

BARF vs raw meaty bones
ellir0305 replied to driller killer's topic in Working Dog Health & Training Talk
only if cooked are rabbit bones the same? ok raw but dodgy when cooked. i feed my springer/collie on complete dry but have over the last few days been mixing in cooked rabbit meat and juice as well as vegetables. he is looking bettr already and his shits are firmer instead of runny. i have been giving him apples and rasberries from the garden too. he is having cooked breast of lamb mince with it tomorrow(i cooked it to get rid of a lot of fat) is this necessary or can he have his meat raw? i am a little worried about him getting a dodgy stomach. are there any veg/fruits he -
cheers davy, that first one works out at about £ for ten tins with postage althoughi can't see a checkout function page so i assume you have to ring up. does anyone know if the manufacturers (webley/crosman) of acupels do bulk boxes or if there is a similar or identical pellet from another company that is? the second link onlyhas .22 in 250 tins and works out pretty pricey especially as they are a higher wieght jsb pellet. i think i am right when i say that with my springer (hw90) i am better off with lighter pellets of which so far accupells seem most consistent thanks rob

i am looking to get a few thousand accupell .22s and was wondering if anyone knows of a place that sells boxes or bulks buys of tins to make it a bit more econmonical its ither that or £9.89 inc P&P off ebay every time. sorry if its been asked before and hopefully this post will help more people than just me. thanks atb rob

i suppose a pistol is more discreet from a business point of veiw but i would tend to agree with aaron on this one or just take your normal air rifle if you are trapping on your permission because then you can take a couple of potshots on the way.

every time i take mine out and get them home i wash them with detol on a towel mate just damp they smell nice after and it helps with ticks and that and the carry box is jays every time. not saying this works but my ferrets have not had ticks on them now for 3 years what, so a solution of dettol and water on a towel and wipe em down? it can't be harmful if you havent had any problems so to me the sounds a good idea. atb rob

can i ask what you are currently doing with the live ones? -
i tried making teeth marks in my 210.5 today and it didnt mark i just really hurt my teeth. GPSdave, if you make a lanyard for your whistle out of stout cord with a single or double fishermans in it pulled fairly tight. this allows the length to be adjusted in an instant and it cant tighten around your neck accidently. i use this method (largely because i wasnt going to pay for a lanyard) and it works great, if the whistle can reach you mouth fine in all directions and the lanyard fits round your collar jobs a gooden . and if this doesnt work ,get a long handled shit scoop

pull the legs upwards slightly and push the head downwards at the same time. if you know anyone else who shoots or hunts get them to show you as this is easier and practice on dead ones -

How can the stretch not work? You keep stretching until you feel a 'gap' in the neck. The 'chop' is a very ineffective and inhumane method in my opinion, and certainly not a way for a novice to try. i made the same point matt, i think that from a novice point of veiw which i am relatively having only been in this game for a year or so, the easiest method by far to learn was streching, then chinning. if i were to use a priest for a rabbit in a net i would still neck/chin it afterwards to make sure it wasnt just stunned. is there any way someone with a video camera could make -

how can it fail when you physically dislocate the head from the neck? its a positive movement , not like knocking an animal possibly unconcious with your hand, where it can wake up again if done incorrectly and i hate bruised meat -
i have spent the last few evenings making up a wooden larsen which is going great and just needs meshing once the wood treatment is dry. i will put some pictures up once i get the chance. anyway my question is what is the best way to get my call bird, i have readabout the fake nest but being as its not really egg laying season i thought that maggies might show some kind of seasonal preferance and avoid the eggs as suspicious. but the maggies are causing a nuisance and would be better off removed asap (according to the landowner) what would you more experienced guys do in this situation

i can answer one of your questions as i'm new to this lark but i was reading in a think and old copy of sporting shooter that a bloke was having the teeth trouble with the hard acme whistles (can't say ive noticed a problem tbh) so he use one of the silent acme ones with a piece of soft rubbertube pushed over the mouthpiece to save his teeth. good idea i think atb rob

Thats what i thought....... not once they are dry, then its just the calorific value which will burn like if they make they into charrabbits they will remove all the moisture and you can run your barbeque on them to cooks more rabbits. its a vicous circle
