calm down guys this wasnt meant to start an argument thank youfor all the kind comment from some people. i am getting n with the run well with a lot of the angle iron cut to sie and the oncrete layed and drying. i have been looking at food now, they have been on a puppy food called supadog puppy but it is less nutritious than a cheaper working food i found so they were being supplemented by tinned meat. would it be ok to feed the following food (see link) as the total diet with the odd rabbit withno tinned meat crap it has 29% protien which seems a good level and above the suggested minimu

i am getting a springerxcollie pup next week and iwas wondering when feeding on dry food should you give a supply all the time or a certain percentage of the pups weight such as 5% body weight? thanks i just dont want to overfeed also should this be given in a single serving or broken up in a series of meals and does this change with age

GOOD LUCK lad and same as ricky said if you are lucky to get the good qualitys out of both breeds you will be more than happy.atvb dell i went to see them this morning and once i found the place i had a look at everything and put a deposit down on a slightly darker than liver and white dog pup which was looking really strong had a great temprement and was incredibly cute . so i am going to pick it up once i have my run finished. the oncretebase is layed tonight and the fram is going up after work tomorrow

a couple of things, what is Ftch's i have no idea what you on about there. but i have found a local little with two dog pups left a springerxcollie litter from working parents (collie is a farm dog for herding cattle and the springer is a gundog) i am going to have a look tomorrow and the lady said if i like one i can put down a deposit and they will keep it till i get my run up for which i am laying the concrete base tomorrow as well. i shifted 1/2 tonne of soil tonight to clear the space. i thought this would be a good breed and from working stock at a good price. what do you guys re

well i wentout today, my first outing of the year and the first everwith my own ferrets got to the first burrow a 3 holer and set my nets quickly (mistake #1) anyway entered my polecat hob aka poley to have a run. 1 sniff and off he shot popping up at holes and heading back for more. then rumbling and a rabbit hit the net only to shake it off and go back down. after this poley emerged from a hole i hadnt seen. so calling it quits on that one i left the net and headed for another. so i could return later to net all the holes and try to get that rabbit anyway tried another 3 holer with no su

thats the thing i love springers and i have worked them before with a friend of mine but as everyone has said they can be nutters and very challenging as a first dog not such ood for the ferreting but the main thing im after is bushing and retrieving as well a flushing game to the gun. i like the plummers as the are very handsome dogs but i have no experience handling them at all so all my knowledge is read and terriers ae hyper too so they might not be any better than a springer in that sense. collies are nice to but not what i really want . in conclusion i want either a ESS or a

just throwing this in the mix here, you said that collies are easy to train so what about a sprollie (essxcollie) as this would have the ease of training of the collie and gundog capabilties of the ESS a good steady dog great for flushing and marking the pups definately have the awww factor and grown into fantastic looking dogs

ah that wsa more what i was after but mines finished now lick of shed paint and some chippings later and the ferts approved its not perfect but i didnt have the reciever bit fot the catches that hold the lid down so i used gate hinges that were too long and made the tips into recievers for the catches. i will put a pic up in a bit

has ayone got any really nice pictures of lurchers or colliexlurchers that are fully grown as a convincer as once ive convince the old dear can get what i want but despite the fact she will have nothing to do with the dog apparently the looks matter

I agree, you have stuff there that could cause you grief. Have heard the vislas are great dogs, ferreting should be within their grasp, but and this is a guess as I have no clue, they may be to active and impatient for ferreting. Very annoying when you dog buggers off with a ferret to ground. A small lurcher beddy or collie would suit, something with a coat to please your mum. Though if it's a terrier you are set on a plummer would be a good enough choice. Once you get the pup, whatever it is it will win her over by being a puppy. Unless it chews the washing Another possibility, look a

no she is a right fussy cow. 'i dont like anything whippet like i dont like thier faces they look too skinny' fecking idiot i know but she really likes the plmmer terrier so if i can find one i may be in luck. my dad is quality he likes all of them. any advice on the run guys this is the biggest thing that needs to be in place before getting one. does it have to be glavanised rod or is 2x2 ok?

is that £10 for shipping alone or for the whole thing? because thats a cheap box or an expensive corrier. they look the dogs balls though how much for the double without the spade clips shipped to mainleand uk? i am seriously thinking of getting one. atb rob

she is coming round to the idea, i am at college and working part time. i will be the one looking after the dog and funding it i am capable and we are in the perfect situation with lots of land an most of my free time is taken up doing things where the dog would be useful and used. thanks for your concern but its fine, i have a space to put the kenel/run but just want to know of idea on how to make it, and sizes etc atb rob

the promblem seems to be finding a plummer round here (hasnt everyone said that at some point) they dont seem to be too common and they sound on the pricey side from other posts i have seen. collies round here from worknig blood are fairly cheap and as i will be paying for everything thats probably good thanks for the advice on the breed guys, i am going to look round some rspca type places to look at example of breed to see size and looks etc as i know a lot of them will be crap behaviour wise and not any good for working, i am looking for a pup as we just found an abandoned 6 week o

ok my nets do the work so i will just use it for marking the other properties i am looking for mainly. i likethe sound of a collie if its a feasable option with the gun and retrieving and flushing. does anyone know this? cheers
