  1. so is it just like dry mixer that you use for fishing? and i wonder if it would work in a larsen trap
  2. two thats impressive!!!! did you have the tools to dispatch them or did you send them on thier way?
  3. you could cut through the stock behind the action finish both edges and hinge and clip it so it folds open and closed and even look into threading the barrel on and off but not sure about the legalities of it? another idea; the ratty stock is held on by 2 bolts. change the top one for a sprung pin of somedescription and take a bit out of the stock and the whole stock should fold up towards the gun
  4. so you bait them out to the lamp?? dont they scatter in the light?
  5. if the grass is long they may be set low but you would always get a couple pulled tight. maybe you place them on old runs give it another day then move them. a good idea i going up there when the rabs are out and watching the runs they use when they see you. mark these up and set snares on them then or as soon as you can
  6. thats a bloody good idea perfect range and you can easy just say you snared themi need to do something aboutr getting/making a better catty ive got a barnet diablo but its huge and a pain to carry round.
  7. im no expert but arent they illegal if they have those markings and arent original? from a trade standars point of view, they do look legit though
  8. the easiest pigeon i ever killed the other day; i was riding along on my motorbike and there was a woody up ahead in the road, as i got closer it took off straight into a telegraph pole KO'd knecked and in the rucksack. who said theres no such thing as a free lunch
  9. at first you dont have to worry to muc habout poles i know a lot of people use washing line poles and i personally use some old black adjusable banksticks i has lying around and a small camnet you can pick them up cheap from a lot of places and dont worry about anything fancy invest your money in decoys and a good faceviel and gloves. this is my personal opinion but i am still rather new to it but face and hand cover is an essential
  10. would that be a wise move when there are still kits? i know it works normally but is there not a possibility she would eat more kits?
  11. i was amazed the first time i gave them a pigeon when they ate the head first and beak and claws and everything lol incredible jaw strength
  12. do you reckon they would be better than double sided? and where the best place to get either
  13. is that with the jackets on?and when i put one portion in they fight so i have to cut up more and give them one each
  14. quite a range of answers and yes i only have two hobs they are fed mainly on dry and supplimented with ferals, doves pheasants and rabbits etc. but they cant eat much at one sitting and a whole rabbits a lot what the best option for me and others like me ?
  15. aaron you got some brown stuff on your nose mate. hes quality chap but dont milk it
  16. i skinned a rabbit for the freezer the other day and it was tough as old boots so i pulled the fur back over and jointed it for the ferts. i gave them a back leg each and chucked the rest in the freezer . but as soon as iput it in it gets covered in sawdust. is this ok or is there a way to stop this like hanging it from the roof of the hutch?? usually when a give them pigeons and birds its no so much of a problem as they start on the breast etc. thanks Rob
  17. been told s/s with heavy shot does for foxes but i dont know the laws on cubs not shooting foxes myself
  18. i think that is the ajor issue here, they have no authority yet act like they do its like the RSPB using larsen traps irresponsibly its just contradictory and should be stooded they do a lot of good for strays etc but they should leave pest control well alone and if the snare was legal they had no right to act especially whilst tresspassing
  19. once you get the first one its addictive and you will get better dont be afraid to set them high i was for ages but catching more now i do
  20. muc as tresspassing and criminal damages are occuring and i know how annoying it is when someone releases something you've working hard to catch pest species or not if the snare hadnt been checked that morning (most builders dont start that early) i shouldnt suffer. i mean i hate foxes as much as the next trapper and i guess everything should be taken into consideration and most of all they should have spoken to the keeper first
  21. jesus, finger crossed for you pedro let us know how you get on
  22. can i trade you some easy runs of yours for soe of my impossible to spot (probably just me) runs on my permission only problem of a few hundred miles your DVD certainly helped my mum says theres no more room in the freezer now
  23. i was using a 3 hole balclava but i just got a realtree viel and what a difference and some realtree gloves to match today so cant wait to try it out. i got a decoy crow and maggie the other day nothing fancy just basic plastic painted jobbers. but i was wondering whats the best way to set them with my pigeon deeks on a grass paddock frequently flown over and roosted round by pigeon rooks maggies etc to bring them in both for the airgun and the s/s?
  24. it shouldnt be the point of rifle shooting is one shot, one kill just like deerhunter lol if you cant make a kill shot dont make one at all i will admit when i first started shooting i probably wounded more rabbits than i killed but that was wrong and i learnt, i think shooting a rimmy with the farmer helped me with this two and reinforced the ethics and safety aspects of shooting. respect whatever you hunt even if its a rat it deserves a humane and fast death
