  1. yeah if we know where it will be we could make a more informed decision instead of the whole of the air rifle forum going yeah alright then with nothing more than a month sorry that sounds really ranting but its not meant to
  2. ok guys i have a conundrum for you. i am currently studying engineering at level 3 national diploma i have got one year under my belt at ddistinction level but i hate it. i have also applied for a level 3 national dipploma in countryside management to start next year so i would leave halfway through my engineering one and do another course which i want to do (the only reason i did engineering was because i was on the said countryside course but it was cancelled at another college) so i can either do the diploma in countryside management and then progress after two years to do a fo
  3. thanks for that mate and its hard to know sometimes. someone told me that the RSPB did pest and predator control and when i went to see them earlier they turned their nose up at me and basically told me in a few moreo words to go away because i was too young, which i found quite suprising really as i told them my age.
  4. i've been on this site too long i dont know whether to take what people say at face value or just assume they are being sarcastic. can someone set me straight sorry MG i realise now your serious. thanks
  5. cheers bud will give it a go, and any tips on persuading a mother who is scared of dogs that getting one is a good idea?
  6. i am finishing college soon and starting a new course next year(hopefully) in countryside management and gamekeeping so i was wondering if any keepers, pesties or farmers wanted any labouring doing in the south somerset area as i need a little bit of money and some work experience, any jobs considered i'm 17 years old and willing to work hard and i've got a year of engineering under me belt which could come in useful. i have my own transport (motorbike) and a provisional licence. and can drive small tractors (small massey types) i know a little bit about snaring and trapping but wo

  8. my mate has a labrador thats about 1year old and its fairly well trained but we want to take it shooting with the shotguns, what the best way to get it used to the shooting and not be scared every time a cartridge is let off?
  9. yeah you buy japanese for quality in the bike world and i think although some copies of various items are sh!t a lot are very good but still tarred with the same brush
  10. yeah once you know how it a piece of piddle and when it comes to the wire tangling: before you unwrap the turns holding the bundle together but it over somekind of dispenser to act as a spool (i used a kitchen roll holder) then unwind it and it should come off smoothly with minimal if any tangles. i was told 100 6 stranders but i make 4 stranders most the time so 150 ish i would guess but i dont know exactly probably more
  11. are you pissed, sniffed a winegum possibly???? your spelling is all over the shop today get a grip aaron and when it comes to bows well tbh i don't know
  12. for ferals at night the lamp does not need to be that bright as you aretalking 30 yards max and usually considerably closer and you dont want something so bright you light the whole place up. so maybe something like a profile maglite or a tesco torch could do the trick but why do you want a bipod for pigeon shooting?
  13. If they knock against the stock - then probably your gun mount and facial position is wrong. The answer to the Olympic question is none - now you know. lol i suppose i am used to shooting rifles mainly but im not too bad a shot, once i work out where the guns shooting i can hit 9/10 clays
  14. alpha ferret feast, yeah my two are fed on that and supplemented with various meats and they are full of bounce and vitality
  15. then you want someone with a supressed .22 rimfire.
  16. thanks for the info guys, but i find that the over ear type hinder my performance ie they knock against the stock and distract me. and in answer to your question i dont know because i dont shoot clays with olympic standaard athletes, ostly with people who cant shoot to save their lives lol
  17. i find the shot/ pellet clean rolling round in the bottom of the hutch, i can only assume they eat round them or spit them out
  18. i agree with rolfe about doing your homework first and really the fox should be causing a problem befroe it should be removed (in an urban environment that is) but a .22 rimfire (NOT AIR RIFLE!!!!) to the head at point blank range will be an outright kill a 12 bore to the same place would do the trick to but would be very messy and loud
  19. I agree with ya on that mate, someone asks for info, then you get all the knobs coming out of the wood work, with comments like,"you'll be shot or you'll be eating through a straw" ect. I've had the same shit. tbh you will get shot at it was only an air rifle and i think he meant to miss me but at scared me all the same i'll never do it again thats for sure
  20. i'm confused, are you in ireland or wiltshire? i live in somerset so wiltshire could be doable. rob
  21. i am currently applying for my sgc and i was wondering what is the best type of ear protection for hunting and a few clays. i cant really get on with the over ear muff style things as i find them bulky and annoying on the cheek when shooting so i dont really know what my other options are and i have quite small ear canals with regards to in-ear devices thanks in advance rob
  22. thanks for the reply, i went to the show today and had a couple of goes at clays with some guns i liked and i have decided what type i want. i tried a repeater which i only got 7/10 with and really didnt like the recoil feel of. but then a tried a o/u s/t ej which was lovely 9/10 clays completely abliterated even thuogh it was a right handed gun. i want one with a thin stock as well . anyway the guy said go back once i have my licence though apparently about 8 weeks! i am getting my pictures tomorrow and my cabinet next week
  23. yep that second ones the right tool, proper tricky though
  24. well i have started filling in my application i have found a countersignatory and im looking at possible guns tomorrow the wheels are in motion. thanks guys rob
