Any thoughts why hares are not for sale in butchers during the summer months? Ever heard of the closed season?

Does the call sound like the shop ones? If so I suggest you patent it and get yourself a stall at the Game fair! never heard the shop bought ones and guys i no shoot fox use simmilar 2 lol they work what sound do you get out of a shop one ? Sort of Shoppy .no seriously I use the back of my hand,but it does your throat in after a while.

Ill answer you smartface,I will lamp rabbits if they are going to be shot if I dont. I dont lamp hares Spring,Summer ,Autumn,or Winter I run Hares from late Sept to beginning of March .Satisfied? Inan. Wasnt trying to be smart, as I said, I wasnt being funny..............a shame you took it that way. You love your hares and fair play to you, I know a lot of lads that do............now I would NOT run foxes at this time of year (or anytime of year of course) because you just would not account for the cubs. I was just stating, that folk cant put a lad down if there moral high ground on

If you are in a country where you can legally run them ,try getting the dog out in Sept ,when the hares arent as wily or strong.Double your pup up with another dog ,or slip it in halfway intoa course,no need for Summer runs imo.

when you see young rabbits in december january and even more so now why stop hunting them they are a pest and do not and will not stop breeding............................ i also agree with the guy thats stated peeople start young dogs on summer hares and alot do but will come on here and deni the fact .as we no and was said if they dont get the odd few they will give up on the harder winter hare you dont need to make out you have not let your young dogs run an easy hare to gain confidence.or are we just saying your dogs are the bolloks i think not .......... If people have to come on a

Yes I really despise lurchers and their owners ,thats why Ive kept them for 40 years, you brainless twat! ps Ive got permission that Ive had for years given to me by Keepers and Farmers ,because I try to act in a decent manner when I'm hunting.if there are those among land owners who despise lurcher owners perhaps they have seen the likes of you in action.

Im going out tonight, were going to run hares, tripled up on the lamp in fields with stone walls and stand the gate shouting at them . Theres plenty of leverets about so should be easy catches. Also is we see a deer were going to knock it over in the landy first to weaken it before throwing are dogs on it. Bite Bite Bite Don't forget to put your gate net up first!

I or my dogs eat all we take ,unless its a fox rat etc,the heads go to the ferrets,,nothing is wasted.Sunday lunch is either pheasant,partridge,duck,rabbit,or hare,or if Ive been out on my mates permission ,maybe a haunch of venison,I should have a sticker saying "Ive allways been green".

I have 3 freezers full up with game ,but I dont lamp hares anytime of year ,and I dont run pregnant ones . Our forefathers used to drive a herd of animals over a cliif to get a dinner ,should we do the same.I don't buy meat ,I don't have to but,no one has to rely on their dog to put food on the table today.My family have kept lurchers since before WW2,when a bunny was a welcome addition to the larder,times have changed I don't think you can use that as a valid excuse for running milky ,or nursing does.

The chances are the ones the dogs will catch will be the nursing or pregnant does,so not the same result really as one dead hare plus babies inside her or leverets on the field left to starve ,real sport eh!

By killing vixens you are killing cubs its just the same. I dislike killing any animal with young inside or what is feeding young. The mild weather of the summer does tempt some people out of there armchairs to hunt but these people are not proper dogmen! Well there's a first we agree on something!

The Country side Alliance fully supports all hunting with dogs and is committed to overturning the ban on coursing and foxhunting,they recently reiterated this in a newsletter,I think they are doing a good job,and as they are all weve got ,deserve to be supported.

Great dog ,gone to his rest,he is the grandfather of my 6 year old dog and the great grandfather of my 10 month old pup.In a sense he will, never really die because his blood lives on in some of the good stuff running now,not only a top dog ,but produced good dogs ,which isn,t allways the case.RIP JOE.

you'll notice, if you read all the post's, I was mistaken on watching the dvd, thinking that it was used to get live rabbits out, on re-watching the dvd, it's clear they are using it to reach, dead rabbits, killed by the ferts at the very end of a stop end, after reaching and removing a couple of live ones by hand Poor old Stubby ,he floats what he thinks might be a good idea across the forum and they come down on him like a terrier on a bolted rat,there's more people on here ready to tear you to bits than there are willing to post their days out,like a pack of dogs ,waiting for one to fal
