  1. Not all plod know the laws on hunting ,but most of the posts I have read indicate that those pulled up were on land without permission ,so whether they were running rabbits or hares is beside the point really. As to the "guilty ,until proved innocent" theory ,I think where this is most glaringly apparent is under the Badger Act, where the onus appears to be on you to prove you are not guilty. Bottom line if you are on land without permission ,you must expect a tug now and then .Its interesting that the Bill appear to be lumping all coursing people with the term thieves and vandals ,judging by
  2. I have that trophy in my front room, the first year on it is 92/93,the dogs name, as you say is Canaan, but the name with it is Don Southerd.Don won it again the following year 93/94 with his famous bitch Lady, who also won the ALC Cup that year. Don co owned Canaan with my dad and Brian Plummer, Brian bred her, my dad coursed her here on the Fens and got her at the peak of fitness and won the year after Kizzy had won. Don Southerd had her after that. I've got some photos of her somewhere, i'll try and dig them out. I know Don and have run against him a few times,it is his name on t

  7. Was he a running dog Vet Dunc? If not it might be worth getting advice from a track vet ,possibly one from Sitting- bourne or Crayford. The guy I use for major problems is Martin Bennett at Lingfield Lodge,Lingfield ,he is a track vet at Crayford.Hope it works out for you anyway.Inan.ps I'll give you a ring next week ,before the moon comes up again.
  8. That's plenty,if you are doing it in around an hour on the bike. You might vary it a couple of days with a spot of bushing instead.I did that amount of roadwork ,plus an hour a day free running ,but that was for competition running, for everyday work 6 miles is more than enough ,you can leave a dogs fitness on the road. If you are running a dog on the road ,keep an eye on its pads , you can wear them thin, surgical spirit will help harden them.Dogs that were coursing twice a week needed rest in between, once the fitness had been attained.
  9. You leave my hat alone Mr Stubby! Come to think of it it does look a bit like a pimple on top of my head, must be all the weight I'm putting on.
