  1. moorman 1...yes there are still a few Plummer owners who work their dogs to fox...as with all breeds some make it some dont! most owners dont usually admit ownership due to the criticism of the breed or its founder... i know to two hunting kennels that used to have Plummers for digging...not sure if they still do or not [think the Conway dont anymore]. a few of the recent posts about plummers has a few of the lads who work them to ground, with their comments attached if you search for them... i have just got a locator and collar off a member on here [as long as it arrives in the pos
  2. good result Fellpack!! shame about the stink!!!lol atb

  6. both look like nice dogs Fellpack....not sure if i have seen another pic of your winner without the tree in the way???? all the best with the mating!!
  7. another one for the Terrier section....number 16 terrier section
  8. ,,,or perhaps just another newbie after some advice and support ....who knows but the more involved the stronger the sport!!! agree with you about the price!!! atb
  9. yup Liam... comes back to how they are brought up and what you put into them too, you can buy the best worker from the best kennels etc but it comes to nowt if you dont put the effort in to make sure it does hwat you want where you want it to! Argee with both Buster and EPTR...workers to workers but you do need a pedigree to keep it all together! ATB
  10. like you say everyone has a different take on it...some give em away - other refuse as too often those dogs have been spoiled perhaps by an easy come easy go mentailty. others believe in charging just to see how committed the buyer is to owning a dog. over £300 to me seems silly money at the moment but everything is relative. cant understand people who buy a £1200 pup as a pet...that said they probably cant understand us lot buying a cheap dog and making it live outside and work etc.... atb
  11. i dont think the guarantee is that they will do rats...i think it is a guarantee that if the pup develops any probs/owners arent happy with it or any other reason then it can be returned to the breeder... there arent many who will guarantee any of their dogs to that level!!!! some lads i know like to breed using working dogs to get working dogs but every now and again they get a problem thrown up that is either nipped in the bud , or passed on.....it can happen to loads but it deffinately helps to know the pedigree of what you are breeding so that you can minimise these problems....
  12. cheers sage....i have managed to find some on t'internet...when i get round to it.
  13. well...went and had another play today. Wind light, sun out, ground rock hard and unomfortable...layed out markers with a tape measure so distances quite accurate today. First 3 shots at 35 meters. ,so altered it till it was near zero.... A bit sloppy really but i was more interested in the 100/122 marks. So from this on i went out to 100 meters..., about 2" high and 2.2" left [poi was the lower right cross]. So i started to bring it back over... and then decided to try out to 122 meters. ..seemed a lot more like it with the height...i managed to bring the grouping over to the righ
  14. cheers fac Sam, and Sage - i hadnt looked that far into it as yet, i have had a look on the net and there are a couple of mounts i have found, a medium set that takes up 50mm and a high set whos max is 50mm..either will probably do so i will make some enquiries.... i am sure there one of these will do....it still wont expalin the results i have been getting with the hmr though....lol, this weekend seems to be gearing up to be a warm still one so i will do some testing... atb
  15. hi, can anyone enlighten me...i have the nighteye 6.5-20x50 on my CZ Varmint. i am using some high mounts and there is 5mm clearance between the scope and barrel. i think these mounts are 23mm high. the distance between bore and scope centre is about 2" and i would like to try to reduce it. trouble is all the medium mounts i have found are too low, usually 3mm or so too low and the front of the scope hits the barrel before the body is settled in the mount cradle. does anyone know of any medium or high mounts that are about 18mm, that will lower my scope the require 5mm? atb
  16. shame the 140 is gone i would have liked that....got one for my rifle scope but need another for myself...how much bigger brighter is the 170 than the 140? my current scopemounted one is the deben tracer max.... atb
  17. Got out this afternoon for a quick zero...it never seems an ideal time and the law of sod was doing its bit today as well...no sooner had i got my stuff together than it lashed down and the wind got up...lol I manufacutred a quick portable target stand out of an old metal coat hanger and took my newly made shooting sticks with us. my first two shots were at 35 yards....just a quick check to make sure it was nearly there. happy it was still shooting ok, i moved it out to 100 yards. i kept the magnification at 12x and fired 3 shots. i could just see them at the top of the target...i was
  18. great result....here's to many more outings!!! ATB
  19. cheers Decker...yup more so in this case as it is on the lower power scale so circumstances are even more important for me to get a humane kill!! My FEO is off with a broken leg at the moment but i think he is the type to listen to circumstances my only contact at the moment is with the firearms admin staff who just give the 'our force doesnt recommend it for fox!....given the circs i think i may be able to convince my FEO when he's next around. will try and post up what his decision is, he was one who would rather you own less firearms to cover your circumstances rather than just tell you t
  20. lol..to be honest i used to usually plug it in in the morning and switch it off before going out....it hasnt let me down yet and its only recently i got back into more lamping and the other day the wife spotted it charging and saw the light didnt change...hence the question. when i first plug it in both lights are on than the green one fades out leaving the red one on....i thought from memory once it was fully charged the red went out and the green lit up again?? but now i have been made aware it never moves off red once it has started to change. somewhere i remember that the green comes
  21. cheers all!!! i know it can be a contentious issue of what caliber is 'right' for what animal...but as i said it will be for the odd fox, if and when i come across it. mainly removal of pests from here but for my permission to continue the farmer doesnt want to hear about the nice fox i saw as i was out after rabbits he wants to know that its dead.... [as long as the distance/conditions will allow for a humane kill] i had heard some 3rd hand reports of people who had managed to convince their local feo to let them have fox on their ticket for the .17 for those instances, but wanted to see
  22. there are a lot of different views on it....if it becomes a regular thing then i will look into moving up a caliber, but i have only just got the .17 and didnt think i would be changing for a couple of years... a couple of friends do use it for fox, as waidmann has said - ok'd by their force. and they regularly shoot them under yards, cleanly and humanely, even they would agree and further and they wouldn't risk it. as i said it is only for the odd chance of coming across the fox while i am out with for the rabbits. if it happens more often i will think about upgrading....i wish, as
  23. hi, only a short one here for all the folk who's force area dont allow .17 HMR for fox. i am aware that my force wouldnt allow it for fox, but i have heard stories when people have argued their case after a while of owning one [or another caliber]. one of my permissions, not a lot of land but passed up to .243 anyway, farmer has started to see more foxes. i only have my .22lr or .17hmr, would i be able to convince the firearms dept here that as long as i am responsible, short range etc having gone out after rabbits but come across a fox could they allow my .17HMR as an exception. i have h
