  1. Awww.... Definitely got the "do not disturb" sign up
  2. It sounds as she wants a dslr camera with interchangeable lenses, although the new bridge cameras like the Canon G10 are very competent. The advantages of the compact style is that they are smaller, lighter, not much risk of dust on the sensor, and you don't have to fiddle about changing lenses. However, for action shots the "shutter lag" is very limiting, and they still don't hack it when it comes to versatility & image quality. More megapixels is not necessarily a good thing when it comes to compacts... Until you get to the pro camera level, there really isn't much to chose between t
  3. Nice pics Kay. I love the one of the sun coming through the trees
  4. Fox cubs are cute I like the 2nd shot of the goose too - get the feeling of movement from the blurred wings.
  5. That blackbird made me smile Nice one!
  6. Very pretty, I didn't realise we had fish like that here
  7. The Sony is a very reasonable camera, and produces good results. But as Dawn says, the range of lens is not as good as some of the other brands. The 18-70 lens is ideal for general photography, and if you can find a reasonable priced 70-300mm lens for a sony fit, that'll do well for wildlife. Good luck with the photos
  8. What a wonderful sight I've been lucky enough to see foxes hunting, and cubs playing with the rabbits brought back for them, but no, I've never had my camera handy either, except for a few shots of the cubs just mooching around.
  9. Nice shots Kay, I like the ones of the bees, they look good against the yellow dandelions.
  10. Pretty flowers They grow on the marshes here, sometimes they are pink, sometimes more white.
  11. Your kids are a bit good at this photography thing Well done them!
  12. I love that last shot - totally mad ears!
  13. Good shots - lovely photos & well done to nail those bunnies too
  14. The first one is a very nice shot. The second pic is rather spoilt by the flash reflecting in her eyes, but you can maybe sort this in photo editing software?
  15. Cracking shots Hannah I love the last one, and the one of the dog leaping is so funny Bet you and the D700 are inseparable by now! - it's a superb camera, almost good enough to tempt me to dump my canon...
  16. Some wonderful photos there... Looks like a really wild place to be - the sort of land I'd love to get the chance to photograph Your dogs are gorgeous - I'll bet they have good thick coats on them!
  17. That last pic is a stunner, it's got the lot (even a pylon) okay, so pylons aren't the prettiest things on the planet, but they're there, and they can make an interesting shot, specially when you use them to lead into the sunset. The contrast between man-made and natural things, like trees, can also make for a fascinating shot. Hope you're still saving for the DSLR - I'm sure you'll make good use of it You were lucky to see all those deer too bet the local farmers love them...
  18. im glad you like them.... not as good as alistairs, but im getting there, im meeting up with him in the next few weeks.. that place you put me onto has inspired me.. the only problem with the lens i have is it has no focus, just magnification, the down side been if i want to focus stack i have to get the different images in focus by moving the lens further or closer by hand, i reckon i would get better shots with 100mm macro, atleast then the lens could stay in the same position but the focus could be changed to get different shots to stack. Ah... you'll be needing a geared tri
  19. Lovely shots Kay, so many pretty spring flowers I love the one of the buds bursting open - you've really captured the essence of spring
  20. Very nice looking footballer The poor kids though - their ball looks a bit chewed now!
