  1. Best to stay as close to possible to nature. Dogs are mainly carniverous omnivores. They would eat mostly meat, them some fruit and berries, some grass and possibly some roots or tubers. From that diet they would get carbs in the form of sugars from the berries and fruits, indigestible cellulose from the grasses and starch from the tubers (possbily some starch from certain fruits too). They also get a small amount of stomach contents from the prey. Starch and sugars are the only forms of carbs that dogs are capable of utilizing. Carbohydrates (except cellulose in most cases) are broken down i
  2. Saluki's are very strange dogs. I think you need time to bond with her. That will make all the difference imo. They are very sensitive and pick up on emotions easily. Deffo train her with a more gentle approach. I get the feeling that the dog will work better for you the more she respects you rather than working for food/toys, which is unusual. I may be wrong but thats what I think. Good luck!
  3. I agree with warm salty water. If its not serious I'd leave it to heal. To stop bleeding, put cornflour on it until it stops.
  4. Raw meat and offal, plus some high quality food such as Burns or Arden Grange if you want.
  5. his is my reply to the other thread - If you want best of the best, anything like Canidae Natural, Timberwolf Organic, Burns is good... Anything like that, with wholesome ingredients and no filler. Best of all is raw food. Stay away from foods with colours in them, or BHA and BHT as preservatives - apparantly they are carcinogenic which is pretty sh*t as a lot dog foods have them in em. Don't bother with Pedigree, Gain, Beta, Purina, Iams, Eukanuba or any supermarket food. Royal Canin is a little better, but nowhere near the qualtiy it should be to match the price. I don't like Hi

I don't like Hills Science diet either. I like Red Mills as a mix
  7. I do this. I find Red Mills is good quality for price. I like the ingredients for the price of it. Its a complete food, but I would'nt bother with 'mixers' as they are just bad quality grain, etc. At least with a complete food you are getting a bit more nutrition. I buy Red Mills PET or STAR. WINNER is the same ingredients but fancier packaging and higher price.
  8. Yeah I knew of a GSDxDoberman who used to catch hares. He ran them into herds of cattle to confuse them.
  9. That Johnny Kingdom fella's a gobshite.
  10. He reminds me of this little mad penkingese I met once. Little fecker chased me up the stairs of the house I was in! Had the same facial expression as the last picture there.
  11. Yes I disagree and I have given you proof, can you prove to the contrary? When was the last time you saw a Rodeo Bull killed buy the guy riding it? Be serious, we are talking about killing animals that have no way of escaping, that are injured and hindered BEFORE they begin, not trying to remain on ones back for 10 seconds and away they go!! You are welcome to insult me if it makes you feel better, however I am right in this instance and you have provided me with no evidence to the contary. My "mates" and I will also continue to watch the videos they return with and we will also contun
  12. So they may be maltenby, but I don't see an opportunity for welfare to be compromised. And I can't see them being as popular as bullfighting and attracting as many viewers as bullfighting. What tourist to England or Ireland says "oh I gotta go see a game shoot"? Hardly any I would think. A hell of a lot of tourists to Spain will deffo want to go see a bullfight. Way more income. Its a stupid comparison.
  13. For fast food....I'd say its gotta be good ol Irish fish n' chips! For proper food......anything me ma makes! lol
  14. That's a hell of a generalisation there fella. Where's your next stop, game shoots? Look it up with huge money making organisations. 99% of the time its true. Money comes first. I've never heard of a game shoot with as much money put into it as bullfighting. And come on, how can welfare be compromised in a game shoot?
  15. Exactly Dawn B, to the previous post. Its a big buisness and theres always corruption.
  16. Another thing to consider is that these people are making money from bullfighting shows. Anywhere that kind of money is involved, welfare is gonna be compromised. I think at this stage is more of a tourist attraction.
  17. Thats right Hippychick. sandymere I didn't read it in the paper. And it was a controlled experiement - of course it was down to the food and not inherited factors. Cooking kills enzymes in the food so that the body has to work harder to replace them. This is recognised in humans as well as dogs and it is proven. Over generations the enzyme depletion does become evident. Thats one of the reasons why people who eat food that is far removed from its natural state present more health problems than people who eat more fruit, veg, etc. Yes, some of the the veg may be cooked, but there is mor
  18. Lol, to get you prosecuted for illegal hunting? You'll just have to take my word for it I suppose! I'm not. If I was I would be asking you to show me pics of hares and foxes and whatever else is illegal in England!
  19. But you see, I don't follow the whole "anti" V "hunter" carry on. I am an individual. I hunt less for fun and more for food, rabbits, pigeons. Or if there is a serious pest problem.
  20. Don't care. I hunt what I hunt and I oppose what I don't agree with.
  21. Well I've been drawing dogs, horses, birds, and animals and stuff for longer than people, so I think my dogs are better. Why?
