  1. Ideally she should be 3 years old before being bred. For a dog its 2 years. I would definitely wait until, depending what size she is. If she's small you might be alright at two two and a half. If she's large I'd wait until she's three or almost three. You'd be well to get her into condition a few weeks before mating her too, lots of raw meat, some veg, etc. If you bred her too young she'd have a small litter and sickly pups, and she might not be mature enough to look after them. So its worth it to wait. Hope I helped, Good luck mate!
  2. Damn. I'm getting an adult dog, but you know the way some greyhounds are cat friendly, I was hoping it would know the difference between a rabbit and a cat! I don't give a f*ck about anyone elses cat, theres too many of the buggers around anyway, its just we have had our mad deaf cat for about 14 years! He might be on his last legs though.
  3. I'm getting a lurcher or greyhound, but is it possible to have a good working dog with a cat?
  4. A mad deaf old cat, scruffy jrt cross girl, show and working doberman, 2 budgies, tropical fish and goldfish+comets.
  5. Ah no I don't have a gun or anything, just general interest.
  6. What would you suggest I do with the pelts? I don't think I'd get enough to make anything. Like I said, I'm not against mink farms that gas them. I hunt to give my dog work and for meat. I like to keep the pelts. Whats the point in buying a mink pelt? Good, my dog eats whole rabbits too.
  7. What? I know they are a pest to native wildlife, another reason that I wanted to hunt them. What do you mean "there wold be many prepared to sign a petition against your chosen field"? What do you do with your rabbit skins? I don't like to waste any part of an animal that can be used. Whats your deal?
  8. Wow, wish I had a rabbit fest like that here!
  9. .............Whats with all the questions....? I actually don't have a clue how many there are. I'd say traps would be the best way though. I don't have a gun or suitable dogs.
  10. what do you think your going to do with their pelts? and where do you come from? Ireland. Nothing really, just decoration. I doubt I'd get enough to make them into any sort of thing!
  11. Oh right. Yeah it is, as well as meat but I don't think you can eat mink? lol. Give it to the dogs I suppose.
  12. Yeah I just wanted to hunt them for the pelts, I don't have chickens so they're not a pest to me.
  13. You poor paranoid f*cker! I am not a member of an animal rights organisation you fool. Stop stirring the sh*t and go away.
  14. He thinks I'm an "anti" because I don't like foxes being raised in cages and electrocuted! I'm actually an uncle.
  15. Here we go again... Rat will you f*ck off if you're not going to help.
  16. Yeah I was thinking traps would be the best. I don't even know if there is any where I am but I know a river with otters in it so there might be mink there.
  17. Are there wild boars in Ireland, does anyone know?
  18. True mate. I've edited and improved the post.
  19. I see. And I assume you've tried her every day of her heat a few times? She has to be in her peak for her to accept him. Do you try to mate her on her territory or the dogs. It should always be on the dogs. You probably know all that and maybe it sounds stupid, but you never know. You'll need a proper insemination kit. Look around on the internet for good advice. Try leerburg.com.I don't know if they have any articles, I know they have kits for sale but I'd say you'd get cheaper ones somewhere else. Good luck!
  20. The names mentioned may I suggest you google them? Sorry mate but your wrong.. As for being very lucky Ive had a few headbangers in my kennels and never had to resort to using an ecollar The problem with an ecollar is that a dog has got to be assessed Mr Frawleys video wont do that will it?And as you said lots of idiots have bought them thinking its a magic box of tricks and ruined there dogs thats why I would reccomend reading some books and then speak to a someone who knows what there doing .But trg a dog aint rocket science the trick is reading your dog.. You see its easy to con
  21. Could it be orf? Dunno if hares can get that, but you'll know in a few days if it is anyway! lol
