  1. Nice one Chez, got to help the farmer out sometimes, even if it means tough going! What version is the little black dog you have?
  2. Just reading this, yes I'd say the Ronseal diamond hard stuff. Apply with a small sponge roller in minutes, dry in an hour or two. Give it several coats in a night. Give it 24 hrs and good to go with hardly any smell as it's water based. No wonky ferrets at all, bit pricey, but you get what you pay for.
  3. hi brimmer the old mk1 collars work with the mk3 but the knoking is a bit slower Are they just as accurate? cant remember it was last year [bANNED TEXT] i was out with me mate with his am getting a mk 3m tomorrow or mondy will let you know Cheers for that salmon, if you can get an accurate fix at all, i'd be willing to shell out for a mk3 set, and take it from there!
  4. Yep straight in with the mk3 if I was starting out. To much messing about getting collars and stuff nowadays.
  5. Great bag, some great looking land down in Shropshire. (Never worked it though.)
  6. Sounds like you need a seat dog.
  7. No not stupid questions at all. Not sure if there is a better time to go, were out all day, it does not make much difference. If there are surface runners the dog may be distracted, but should still mark as long as it's not watching others run off. If the dog is normally sound, I'd trust it. The rabbits have found they can get away above ground, and will stick to what has worked for them before, only the cute one's are left at this time of year if they have seen some action. There may be hidden sets or drains they are living in, but sometimes like you say they don't go to ground.

  9. exactly as I see it. Think khan may get lucky, and his size and strength may upset things. But he's still fooling nobody, only using a name to try to raise his comeback, Barrera at his peak would have took Khan apart within a couple of rounds at worst. If you want to be the best, you have to beat the best at there best. Step up Khan if you can.
  10. aye....no more of this Thats a really kind thing to do, having the young un releasing rabbits into the nature reserve!
  11. Nice one Tomo. Good night out feller by the looks of things.
  12. We still use the mk1's, have quite a few collars, and boxes, (on our last working box though). Never used the mk 3 or seen it used, they seem to be a decent bit of kit, but a bit of a sting. If Deben had made them so the old collar's worked with the new box, it would have been less of a sting for the changover, it makes you reluctant to buy them to be honest. I'm sure an electronics whizz could run up some new internal boards to fit straight in the old boxes. Even my old feller can use the mk1, allthough trying to locate a ferret a foot down he'll still have the dial switched up to 8ft!
  13. My thinking is it's the carbohydrates you get in cereal based foods, this allows the protein in the food to be converted easier, resulting in a animals packing on the weight, for little food. Feeding them mainly on meat is like the atkins diet, not a lot of carbs, it's harder to convert the proteins in the food. Allthough give them to much meat, and they'll still pack it on. He sounds like a greedy ferret, a couple of mine are the same.
  14. Old girl looks tired out there! She'll have pleasant dreams tonight! (sorry for making you post by the way, keen to see how you did!)
  15. Scumbags of the scummiest scum.
  16. Knew you guys would come up with some entertainment! Getting to know the land is the main thing really, then it's down to having the gear to do it. Sure you'll be posting lots of reports over the next few weeks! Looking forward to reading them!
  17. Come on lads, no-one else has been out, give us some entertainment!
  18. another good day then eh brimmer. frank not caught any more with that boomerang? saturday is almost here hope the weather stays ok for a bit of action. looks like im goin to be able to get out saturday sunday. can't wait Get in there Chez, let us know how you get on!
  19. Makes sense, think i'm confused now!
  20. 1st mating collie/grey 4 / 8 - 4 / 8 2nd mating grey/collie grey pup will end up 6 / 8 - 2 / 8 3rd mating collie grey / collie pup will end up 5 / 8 - 3 / 8 Then the fraction is unworkable, so split into 16ths The 3rd mating is 10 / 16 - 6 / 16 mated with a grey again, the collie is split = 13 /16 - 3 / 16 Crikey that took some thinking about!
  21. I don't agree with leaving them with food in the box on the day, feed them the day before, and when you have finished for the day. A full or fat ferret will leave the toughies. (and I don't mean starving by the way.) Unless you want them to leave the toughies.
  22. Occasional fox, have seen the odd feral cat, but no hares Whin. Further down the valley in the bottoms you will see hares.
  23. I work on the high ground, so I suppose they breed later than most. Even now they are paired and bucking. Give it 4 more weeks and our season will end. You'll see the tubes in the back end start to swell up. Thats the start of the first litter. If it has to be done then keep getting them, but if it's sport I won't carry on. Bloody hell I am a soft t##t!
  24. I was hoping the piccie would get pulled by now to be honest. But now it's been quoted only a mod can delete it.
