  1. Just as Salmon says, a feed will help, but sometimes affects the way they work. Get a spade and dig! (if your not prepared for this, then give it up!)
  2. Yes for now, no for March is the simplest i can put it!
  3. Wahey! Was going to text you and see if you had been out! Jasper getting stuck in? Swap for a pig russell?
  4. Hit em hard boys! And give us a look in please!
  5. This is the darkest hob i have. His father is an albino, and mother a poley, but not a dark poley. He must have the dark gene. He has two brothers that are brown poleys. They are all quite large and quick. Think i'll probs sway back to the albino's in the future though, only in there second season now are they getting good on the pick up out of the holes, like plenty of quick poleys in the past that i've owned. Don't get me wrong, they are dynamite, but when a polecat is so quick it gets away from you and follows the dog to the next set of holes, its too fast a pace for me!
  6. Make some cracking underwear out of them! They'll keep you warm and you can play caveman with your missus!
  7. Cracking looking animals mate. A credit to you.
  8. Its still a daunting place for a young ferret the first season. In time there's a good chance it will stop 'peeping' but patience is the key. It might be next season before it gets real confident, the more it gets used the better it will get, and easier to pick up. Just depends how patient you are. Over the years i've found the poleys the worst culprits for this. I put it down to the better eyesight than an albino ferret, somehow a bit more alert. Has anyone else found this? Usually in there second season the confidence has grown, and they are less spooked by the outside world. Hope th
  9. Easiest way is to leave it in the cage. You'll easy locate/retreive it there!
  10. Old fellers best is 2 With a boomerang!
  11. Very true Stealthy. Me old feller asked me only last week if i'd get another terrier. I told him i'd never be without one. Fair play there hard work. At the end of the day any decent terrier could still bag a decent tally of rabbits alongside the right outfit, even on three legs! (sometimes even the best runners are out of action.) I had a good JRT going back a few years, broke my heart when he hit cannine heaven, had odd ones since, but none as good as him Thinking about another terrier, funnily enough They always end up your best pal, no matter how much they test your patien

  13. Can relate to quite a lot of that of Netfull.
  14. Your mate Rock! He's on his way!
  15. A dog is the key without a doubt. Unless you can watch bunnies run into the warrens. Even then a keen dog pick up the pieces.
  16. Old man is not so good mate tbh. JB you need to save a few days hols for late in the year! Bouncer will always make me smile, he always smiles! but i have enough with the dweeb of a russel!
  17. They get to a certain age TP. All you can do is laugh!
  18. Whats going on? its Monday and hardly any reports of days out? Are the rabbits safe? Are the animals getting fat eating grass? Sounds like a day for the terrier for day 13. All my problems just start again! He's 9 yrs old. At 5 years old, he's finally got close to being a useful aid to ferreting, but always gets his nose shoved out in favour of a day with the runners. He's a brute of a russel at 17" tts, with a swelled head mentality as well. His drive is his plus side, his negative side is just being damn stupid. Might get another year out of him before he's too deaf to hea
  19. Not the nicest of weather???? Struth! wish we had that sort of weather, rather than the stuff we have to come for the next 3 months!
  20. Nice to read, and good to see the piccies! Always like to see a bit of spade work!
  21. Hi Tiercel, hows it going? Thought about this overnight, so edited and simplified it! If there's only 5 rabbits to catch on a day out, then I'd enjoy catching 5 rabbits. As long as all the animals in the team give it 100%. (including myself!) If any of team members are not giving 100% then the day becomes less enjoyable. The only thing I'd be bothered about only getting a few rabbits, would be the dogs and ferrets. Without the heavy and regular work, would never get them 'match fit'. The only true way of making an animal, is the experience and workout gained by working them to their limi
  22. Didnt write up day 11, got a decent bag, but just the same old stuff. Rain, Ferrets, Dogs, Dozy old chap. ferrets in hole, bolt out dog catch, job done. Oh we got the first blacky of the year. Today we took the trusty Honda steed out for another mission, with a few modifications. The trailer we take the bike around on was just too much for the little 350 quad to drag around the land, so a rabbit box on the back, and a tray on the front rack for junk was decided on. (my carpentry skills are at best ok!) The old feller gets a backie now, whilst the hounds run alongside.(most of the
