when we first started going out with the terriers they used to get into fights regular as well but it very rarely happens these days. I think as you get more experience with handleing them the more control you have on them, like knowing not to bundle them all into the back of the van and so on. Also most terriers that know there purpose are quite tolerant of other dogs if not provoked.

A hard dog may only be useful in some places but without hard dogs to breed from you would end up with no good terriers down the line

A few weeks ago we were hunting and a frost started coming down in the evening. I thought this would cause scent to be less strong but one man said the hounds would hunt better as the scent would stick to the ground. Is this true?

Cheers tassa, just goin to watch her, was out again sunday and she's hunting better with every day. Its great watching young dogs improve.

I have three other bitches that are hunting but I usually hunt with a lad that has 3 or four hounds as well. You are right about the extra responsibilty because I have taken her out with my own wee pack of 4 and you could see that she had to work more and not just run along. She's making good progress anyway so I'm happy with her so far. And I know what you mean about them false hounds they'd do your head in!

I have a young harrier bitch here 11 months old she has been running with the pack on short hunts since she was 6 or seven months but only started using her nose and hunting herself in the last month or so. She can now hunt out in front of the older hounds but her voice hasnt came yet. Do any of you with experience of hunting harriers or even foxhounds know what age they start to open up at? I know they can all be different but im just wondering. thanks

There are places round where I hunt that have a lot of deer and they can be a nusense when we are hunting foxes. So I was wondering is it possible to stop dogs hunting them. I know it would be hard to do it to adult hounds but could you teach young pups not to hunt them the same as you can break them to sheep?

I know with our own hounds that they find it difficult to keep a line when there is a hard frost. I'm just wondering what other peoples opinions are of hunting in frost and how your hounds do.

What are your favourite deadbaits for pike and what do you get the best results with? Also what do you think is best deadbait for retrieving as well as with a float or on the bottm.

I have a bottle of ivomec for cattle here and my terriers seem to be losing hair would it be ok to give them a jab of it it is 1ml to 50 Kgs. has anyone ever tried it. I have heard of poeple using it but never done it myself.

Any of you who use the big round mouth shovels like the bulldog ones do you not find them too wide? I have never seen one close up only in photos.

I know a few lads keep hounds with collie blood in them and they are brillint, they say it gives the hound more speed while hunting and they are better for cover.

What kind of wieght are these are they heavy for carrying. I see b and f are also selling one with a smaller head.

Does anyone use the bellman and flint shovels, if so what do you think of them i was thinking of getting one.

Seven and a half month pup on the right showing good signs and traveling empty burrows since 6 months. Looks massisve compared to the little bitch.
