hold over and hold under
Freddy Watts replied to aaronpigeonplucker's topic in General Airgun Discussion
As said above Aaron it depends on what your using. On way to find out would be to find a mark on a tree at about the height you are expecting to be shooting at. Aim at it and see where you pellet goes in relation to it. (Then fire a few more until you have worked out where to aim to hit your target spot on. Might be hard to do unless your scope is good as will be hard to see the pellet. Obviously it then depends on where the birds are but unless they are significantly higher or lower it will not make huge differences, so just adjust small amounts to compensate. Hope that was helpful. -
Here you go Aaron. http://webley.co.uk/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=10&Itemid=14 . Thats what a Webley AGS is. Both ok guns i would say and especialy as a gift. Cheers Freddy

You never know guys this might be an opportunity to get the truth out. Hardly shows us in a good like when any journalist whos wants to learn something gets shot down (no pun intended) before he has even started. Not talking to anyone about why we do what we do sounds like a good way to get us more bad press if you ask me. Maybe if you post the questions you wish to ask on here in the thread it will give people more of an understanding about where you are comming from. Then maybe more people will be willing to give it a go. Can't hurt to tell everyone the questions now can it? All -
Errr welcome I guess. Interesting way to introduce yourself though. Most people say hi first. Hope you get your boot problem sorted. Freddy

Welcome mate. Davy has told us all about your outings together. Good to have you here. Enjoy Freddy

No idea mate but if you find anywhere let me know. I am up here at uni and missing being out and about loads. If there is somewhere fairly close i might sort out bringing my air rifle up here next year. Welcome to the site by the way. Freddy

Nice going Gary Totally off thread but talk about the way we phrase things, I had the CPN round yesterday and we were chatting about this and that. The conversation lead me to chat about kids and how none of mine like to shoot etc... He mentioned that the church he visits has two services on a Sunday, one for the adults/teens and a family service because he's really into the young kids. Without a bat of an eye I said "That about sums up the church entirely to me Rich; What you just said sounds soooooo wrong on so many levels" Then it clicked Talk about 'phrasing' he could

So nearly said yes then. Must not spend more money at the moment as much as I would love it. Freddy -
I stand corrected. I doubt many people can claim to do that. Happy hunting mate Freddy
-
Well I doubt you would get it into prison either way to be honest mate. Probably not the best idea to try either. Freddy

I havn't got one myself so can't say but your best bet is to get hold of some samples and try some out as every barrel likes something different. Just because its the same gun as someone elses doesn't meen it will like the same pellets. But as far as type goes a good dome is always best. The specific make and size is up to your barrel. Cheers Freddy Edit: Don't think I have ever seen a donator with only 2 posts before either. Good on ya mate. -
Good job you had it with you mate. Think how gutted you would have been if you hadn't. Anyway nice shooting. Freddy

Sweet got ya now, didn't think of that. Well then yeh as I said you could do worse than a HW99. Or if you want to stick with BSA the lightning is always s good bet. That would just sneek in under your budget as is about the same price as the HW99. Freddy -
Focusing rifle sights
Freddy Watts replied to Queequeg's topic in Rifle Reviews, Technical Help and Tips
That sounds about right. Every time you change the distance you need to change the focus on the focus ring too otherwise the scope will still be trying to focus on something 50 yards away. Freddy -
Equipment maintenance
Freddy Watts replied to JackReid's topic in Rifle Reviews, Technical Help and Tips
You beat me to it about the lens Darryl. Window cleaner is good for window glass as stated but not so good for the special coated glass of lenses. Oily rag for me too. And a lense cloth on the lens. Freddy -
Focusing rifle sights
Freddy Watts replied to Queequeg's topic in Rifle Reviews, Technical Help and Tips
If you get the focus ring in just the right place mate you should be able to see both the crosshair and the target nice and clear. So you might just have to do a bit of fine tuning to your focus mate. Maybe they could make an auto focus scope like they have on camera lenses. Freddy -
Have you ever been attacked by a couple of crows mate. I know who would be the one running away. Nice post by the way silentshot sounds like you have a good time anyway. Freddy Freddy

Have you not got anyhting to charge your PCP up with then mate? Or did you not mean PCP? Seems a bit strange to get rid of a perfectly good PCP just cos it has no air left. If that is what you want to do though the you could do alot worse than an HW99. Tried a mates out once and seemed pretty good though I didn't use it much. As many will tell you, most of Weihrauch's guns a pretty good so you shouldn't have a problem with them if that is what you want. What gun have you got at the moment mate? All the best Freddy -
Welcome mate. If you have a good look around you will find lots of tales of various members hunting trips and there are new ones going up all the time so you should be able to find what you are looking for. The Blogs section might be worth a look although it has been a while since I have been on there myself. All the best Freddy

I used to know someone who shot with his middle finger. No idea why. I asked him once and he just said "it feels right". So I agree with the others as long as you have a good few shots first to get used to it should be no problem at all. Hope it goes well. Freddy
