  1. Took my young lurcher dog out tonight for a little shine about .He has been out a couple of times but not had any success unfortunately but conditions were good tonight dark and a nice little breeze so I decided to give him another go .There aren't many rabbits local to me and they are quite difficult to catch as the ground is shite but when you know the area well you can pick up a few here and there ............... so first run grass is still long but he did well to turn it a few times before it made it's escape through the fence .......... a short walk and we were approaching another run

  5. Not as good as previous years ......... all changed about and wasn't the same sort of meeting areas like there has been in the past i.e no bloody EDRD stand a total disgrace that was IMO

  12. I have seen some very good collie crosses and also some that are not so ......... the main thing I would look at as Borderer says is the temperament of the colie that is in the cross........... some can be oevr exciteable but some can be very nervy and skitish which will then pass on to the lurcher offspring.......... there ain't many people breeding true collie crosses now so most you will find unless you know the people breeding will be lurcher to lurcher mating which will have collie in there somewhere, but again look at the temperament of the dog's being bred from........ I have always lik

    4X4

If i knew what one was i could tell you :11: MOLL. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> A suzuki sj is a small 4x4 jeep ............... you can get a lwb version but there ain't many of them around ,they are shit hot off road but only have a small engine in them so towing wouldn't be easy peasy ............. not sure what the are like on fuel though and I have never seen a deisel version around in the older models at least
  16. Well that looks well and truly sorted now mate

My mate had a diesel pick up truck for his hounds that was pretty high off the ground and was a bit better on diesel than my jeep too I think it was a Vauxhall Brava or something like that............ he has been across fields in it too .......

A vehicle the size you want and with enough pulling power with good fuel economy IMO doesn't exist ......... I have a Pajero lwb fits the bill perfect apart from the fact that it's shit on deisel ............ but there ain't no perfect motor IMO so you gotta see what's the downfalls ....... in the 20 months I have had my Pajero I've spent no money in parts just servicing and a new set of tyre's , it start's first time .....every time .... and it's like a new car condition wise ........ the only bad point is fuel economy .............. depends on the mileage you will be doing on an average we
  19. To be honest I have never kept a ferret of that age that hasn't proved itself working ............. but I think that afterr a few outings an "experienced" ferreter should have a rough idea if the ferret will make the grade or not Qoute: Due to a number of reasons they didn'y get worked until the back end of last season, and then only had a few outings. during these outings you will get a rough idea of the abilities of your ferret ....... some take to it straight away others not so but you will know after a few outings if you are going to get any trouble with your ferrets.........
  20. I would say you've got good progress there mate just keep it up and keep an eye on the terrier at all times until your sure they are ok together
  21. Easiest way is to put down a bowl of milk and allow them to drink from it together obviuosly watching the terrier closely ............ most of all the dog needs to be familiar with the ferret and realise that it's a working companion not fair game
