  3. To me the first nest looks like that of a whitethroat. Ive found one of these myself this year but the eggs in you pic are alot different. I cant realy make the eggs out properly, but if i was a gambling man id have a pound on it being a garden warbler ..... Lamps
  4. Came across these on my walk this Afternoon . I wasn't sure what they were at first and suspected they were blue Tits. I decided to stand back and observe for a while, and it wasn't long before both parents could be seen popping back and forth to feed the youngsters. It was a nice suprise to see they were actually Coaltits that were in the nest, and therefore make my find a bit better Lamps........
  5. AND THESE WOULD BE...............? Lamps
  6. Come on eggsperts Who do these belong to............ Lamps
  7. Ive been a bit concerned about my border recently. she's showing no interest in foxes and only likes killing little rats. Ive tried everything possible that i could think of to get her started but unfortunately nothing has worked. It was in desperation that i had to seek the advice from an expert in the Working terrier, and therefore got in touch with my Good friend Shags . I managed to find his number in a Copy of "Gay Times" at the back in the "Contact Wanted" section. I remembered he left it here in my Toilet last time he visited. This magizine is about 60 pages long but for some reason

  11. while mouching with the pup this afternoon i managed to come across 3 chaffys nests. All the 3 nests were no more than 100ft from each other, which i found quite facinating. Id always imagined the Chaffy to be a territorial little bird who could maybe be quite aggressive. The first was placed in a small Holly bush and contained 3 eggs....... The second was in some gorse and was a fabulous little structure, just like their nest always are. It held 4 eggs. The third was in some brambles and just as well made as the other 2 nests. Inside was just a single Egg.......
  12. Well ill be honest with ya and say at present im feeling fecking chuffed to bits and proud as punch at the moment . Yesterday found the lamper family travelling down to london for the junior B.C.C.M.A {British council for chinese martial Arts} British championships. Both my Daughter and Son were their to repesent their Club {sil lum kune},for who they have been training with for now coming up 18 months. My daughter had competed last year and managed a silver medal in sparring which at the time was more than we expected considering her inexperience. This year was Gonna be much more harde
  13. Came across these today while exercising the terrier. It seems the Birds are realy getting busy now..... This little Wren has done a fabulous job of making its home in a hole in the Wall, and im sure it would be almost invisable to those without a trained eye. Hopefully the eggs that i could just about see, will hatch and fledge without a visit from a nasty Corvid... This Canada Goose must of layed for England.... The nest was busting with Eggs and they were almost on top of each other. Unfortunately i couldn't quite get close enough for a decent pic,but saying that you can still c
  14. As many of you know im a big fan of the collie/cross lurcher and can generally be found to be "singing their praises". Infact because of this it once had a respected Hunter even refering to me as "Collie Boy" during many of our Heated debates . What he didn,t know, is that in the past i have infact had the experience with other crosses beside my favourite Collie types and this included the saluki cross. I was fortunate to have the pleasure of seeing one of these at the weekend while visiting family members who i dont get to see that often. I gave them this Bitch many years ago after the
  15. What about the 20 bales we moved for a Nest of young Bunnies ... dont tell them about that mate . Also what about me jumping up and down on the roof of an old Sports car in one of the barns, trying to get a rat to bolt . I hope theres no plans to rebuild it,because if there is then theres gonna be a good bit of filler needed . Great day had and a good laugh . When i got home i though id better clean a couple of bites up the border had a aquired. It meant i had to pull a few bits of hair out to get at them . Thing is i got a bit carried away...........................
  16. Woody I wish you well with the Dog Lamps....
  17. Shags i too have been watching a Chaffie carrying while out and about today. I was suprised realy because you dont normaly see it down here until the start of next month. Saying that , i reckon a few are going down a bit earlier than usual and its been a good month since i found some Songthrush eggs. The buzzard opposite my house is sitting also...in a nest that had the eggs robbed from it two years ago. Hopefully they will be ok this year and we'll have some yougsters flying about. blackie sitting tight........................................................................... ....

  19. Well Alfies 17 weeks now and i thought its about time he was introduced to a bit of feather in his training. One of the things i eventualy intend to use him for is retrieving shot whatever, so he might aswell get used to it now. Anyway, i decided to use a Shot crow as i find these seem to hold their feathers better than some birds, espeacialy pigeons what can be a real nuisance when training a pup. A good tip is to put an elastic band to hold the wings in place just to make it easier for a Pup . Well like with most things, Alfie had no problems when introduced to a dead Bird and brough
  20. Smally...it seems from what you wrote that the Bitch is calling all the shots. It is her who is determing wether a retrieve is coming to hand or not,and basicaly she has been teaching you a few things. By picking up things all by herself and then pressing them into you,it is her who is Saying "Throw this for us mate...i fancy a bit of fun now". I wouldn,t be suprised if this is done at home in the garden with that young Girl of yours, while your at work and its just something she has gone on to realy enjoy. Next tme your out with her and she starts carrying things to you, try and stop it hap
  21. Well the little fellahs 16 wks now and coming on a treat . All his training is coming on fine, and so far ive had not too many problems for me to worry about. With him intended to later acompany me on ferreting outings, i thought today id introduce the Stop nets into our training. Ive already had him jumping obstacles that he could see through,so i was pretty confident anyway there would be no probs. Now for people who have in the past used these nets with Running Dogs, they themselves will know just how Messy the introduction can be. Espeacialy if the first time they get to see one of t

  24. Just an update on my pup. My Grew x border Collie is now 14 wks of age and nearly 17" at the shoulder. So far im very pleased with how the training is going, and im now concentrating more and more on progressing with it out in the fields and woods where it realy matters. He will sit on camand even when a distance away from me and also knows the down position. His retrieving is coming on realy well and he will now search for his Dummy, using his nose to locate it from cover. Hes also fetching from a good distance and presenting it to hand well. retrieveing from a distance.... and
