  1. I will open my wallet, and get some propper poles, but decided as I had some free time to put one 30m net together anyway. And it was a lot easier than I expected. 100% bagging, poles about 5 paces apart, bagging not tied in, but I might change that on a drier day. I didnt find it snaggy, but take on board whats been said. Hopefully catch one or 2 in it tomorrow. And I've only used just over a quarter of the sheet netting. so I'll get onto magnum monday.
  2. Must be my scotish blood but the consensus certainly seems to be "snaggy" lol, and as I fecking hate a snag, you and Tomo could certainly be right Ok, OK I'll open me wallet for once !!!
  3. I'd love to get hold of one of the rare afghans to be born with a smooth coat.
  4. edited to add -my post was in relation to the wolf video.
  5. Thanks for putting some perspective to this compo. It is still baiting in my eyes, and not hunting, but I do take you point of walking a mile in another mans shoes.
  6. Its baiting, pure and simple. Nothing to do with hunting. Nothing to do with training, unless their training the dogs to not actually catch and kill a wild wolf.
  7. Mines dam was that breeding from handcock, a fine bitch. Did well on the few occasions I hunted with her.
  8. some whippet, collie, beddlington and greyhound it him.
  9. Cheers Tomo, I was just thinking of doing a bit tonight, but I'll hold five for now, and do eet tomorrow, in a hall I have access too. I'm going to hold onto the clips for now, maybe tape them to stop snagging, but if its a hassel, I can easy remove them, or just stick to hazel. how far apart do you do your poles mate ?
  10. I just picked up 200 yards of 15 mesh deep 2" 6z nylon sheet netting for £20 and 20 electric fence poles for 70p each I already have some top and bottom line, just thick nylon cord, as used for purse nets ext. and I'm going to have a go at putting a couple of quick sets together. The electic fence poles look made for th job to me 70cm long, pointed at one end, and flattened at the other with handy clips for securing the net too. Also strong, but with some flex But before I start, I have a few questions, does all look ok so far? and how far apart (in me
  11. I've also heard the thing about a pure dog, being mated to a different breed, will then never produce a full breed again, no matter what it is later breed too, and heard that it is due to the bitch taking on part of the males dna so as to be able to provide for the puppys in her womb. Another one that hasnt come up yet is "a wall eye will never go blind" Though I think that one could be shown as BS with a sharp stick
  12. A little thing called hybrid vigour. Littel, but very important, have a read up on it. It makes a huge difference in many thing, from the plant world, right upto humans. I dont need to read up on it I am well aware of what it means, thats basicly what I said just in plain terms! no, you didnt. You said you get the best bit of both, in a plain sorta roundabout way. You didnt mention, or allude to the fact that as well as that, you get some thing else. Hybrid vigour.

Also got a few places to have a look at now, so any more advice, from those who have bought such stuff, greatly accepted. thanks for the advice so far lads.
