  1. I build up to the speed fairly quick, all dogs have a different running speed, so you will see when it is comfortable for the dog, then stick to that speed until the mile is up. I use it once or twice a week, but it all depends really, as long as you have a few rest days about.
  2. 4 or 4.5 mph and tend to do 1 mile at a time, rest and another mile. You have to take it slow to start, just a little and often until the dog gets used to it. Mine doesn't really enjoy it though, and much prefers running alongside the push bike. So I wouldn't invest too much in one, encase the dog doesn't take to it, mine was only £50 second hand.
  3. Cool, I've updated it, good luck to you both, but I'm rooting for you, as I know you
  4. What do you mean my dog didnt catch a lot, it caught 5 thats a good season for him Every one wants to chill a bit, we all know if we win we don't have the universes best dog, let alone the interwebs

    LAMPING

I do both, mainly walking, but do enjoyed driving some times too. Both can be a good night out, pretty different.
  6. Just thought I would use this thread to post were we are at in the comp so far, I'll update it as we go along. If I make any mistakes, please let me know and I'll change them asap.
  7. Who are you then mate? 5 posts aint a lot, you know people on here ?
  8. I agree, it needs to remain open, and who really cares about negative comments? Its just the interwebs.
  9. I agree with tomo that we need more rabbits caught, but everyone has known that in every heat, and tried hard to produce that, especially when having guests visiting. Just odd how it hasn't happened once yet. Can't believe my heat had the most caught so far, because if was a terrible night lol. Nothing was out. Still, that's the way its been going so far, and I hope it changes for the next lads up. Many of the big bags we are starting to see this season have been driven, and we all know you can cover a lot more ground, and get a lot more rabbits when driving rather than getting off
  10. Good do lads, well done Chartpolski
  11. Saluki crosses have some of the best feet for hard ground. Whippets do well as their light on hard ground, so I duno where you get that from mate.
  12. Cool, can't run her in heat mate, good call, SH's dog won't be hunting rabbits if he is anything like mine lol.

First time I've heard northern monkeys described as "beautiful people"
  15. SS do you make these sorta things to keep doggies dry ?
  16. Yep, it is, and that prob was a couple of weeks ago, before it molded over
  17. Agreed, some of the best nights are wet and windy.
  18. The dogs are in this thread mate http://www.thehuntinglife.com/forums/index...howtopic=114262
  19. A lad who some times posts on here slipped his dog on what he thought was a squatter, turned out to be a lump of iron stone, took all the dogs teeth out on the bottom left of his jaw, and a bit of bone too
  20. Good luck to you both, just had 24 hours of rain down here, so hopefully the season is coming good soon
  21. Look for small yellow pins (new forming mushrooms, pins not spores, you'll never see spore, just mycelium, the white fibrous mat, and pins, then fruits) then if it stays wet, let them grow, as if can reach a good size. Well worth a try if you get a 100% positive id on them.
  22. Hard to tell as its old, and covered in mold (or its own Mycelium) but looks a bit like old, edible but I wouldn't eat that one, chicken of the woods. Check the stump again after a bit more rain, and see if there's any new healthier specimens to id.
