Understandable really.....very nice part of the world i was over that way a few months back Haverfordwest.....only there overnight but saw enough to want to go back....nice friendly people as well

yep fair do,s......i doubt some poor Ethiopian marathon runner dragging himself to the line for a 3rd place would see it like that .....but i spose it was the first one after all By the way.....if thats how yous get after a running race i dread to think of the state you,ll be in if you get a result at the wknd

I know im a boring old fart but if that had been a pal of mine i think id have clipped him round the mush......was probably a giggle at the time but in a serious event like that id have been less than happy if i was about to cross the line after a painstaking race like that only to see some dopey pissed up prick knobbing about in front of me......some serious athletes them boys.

I agree............ To call the bible a load of bollocks thats fine, dont read it then............some folk would call certain posts on this forum a load of bollocks, but the simple answer is dont read something you have no interest in.........and if you have no interest theres no need for comment surely.

He was 37 when he fought Lewis i wouldnt say it was his prime.....Bowe in my opinion could have been a great fighter, neither of those opponents were a disgrace to lose to.....( incidentally Bowe/Holyfield fought 3 times not twice Bowe came out 2-1 up )........your making more of this size thing than actually exists....for instance was height/size an issue when Dempsey knocked out Jess Willard or a 200 lb Jack Sharkey knocked out a 270lb Carnera.....historically size has never been a factor why would it suddenly be one now......Tyson always struggled with tall fighters but thats only because hi

Although i agree with what your saying....our average attendance is around the 34/35,000 mark which is the capacity of Upton Park.........in the championship no other clubs average gate is the capacity of their ground,Leeds have a capacity of 40,000 but average about 26.......so even in the lower league we still pack out the ground but yes your right a 60,000 capacity will be too much......it would be filled out against the big 5 clubs but probably only 2 thirds full the rest of the time.......hence for me the best idea would be to redevelop the East Stand,it would take the capacity up to arou

Styles make fights mate size dictates nothing......Holyfield never avoided Lennox or Bowe,s rangey style why would he avoid Klitchkos.....he may have been aware that his age didnt allow the necessary mobility but size was never an issue. David Haye did not go out to win the fight with Klitchsko....thats the reason he made such a poor showing.....he never tried to win the rounds and simply hoped to pounce on a Klitchsko mistake that never came, thats why it was such an easy fight Klitchsko knew he only needed to not make mistakes to win.Haye had/has the power to knock out any heavyweight....but

Nostalgia........Great chat with my Uncle today.
gnasher16 replied to mattydski's topic in General Talk
Aint that the sad truth.......and can you blame them..... Myself and a few pals often take the ol boys down the Hammers we are all big strong chaps yet these olduns feel much safer with us than having to walk along next to some bunch of spotty kids puffing their chests out thinking their tough if they barge a few year old pensioners !......the crazy thing is when we walk in their eyes light up and they are so grateful, when in reality its them doing us the favour merely by sharing the last bit of their lives with us. The older generation are without doubt the most undervalued and neglected m -

Absolutely right.....im not big on pubs but often go in a chosen few just to sit nattering ( mostly listening ) to the ol boys in their 70,s and ,s i find them fascinating.....great source of learning as well ......They are a generation who will be sorely missed by our society.......our society just dont know it yet ! -
All seemed pretty fair and above board to me.........but then im not out to tell the world how to live their life as long as they dont come near me or into my country i couldnt really give a shit if they want to barbecue and eat their murderers......if we worried more about ourselves than we did of a bunch of demented foreign cavemen there wouldnt be anything to discuss. As the man said...." we dont know them and we dont want to know them "

Yep thats the difference between true fighters like Ingle,Watson,Rod Douglas and the like whos lives have been destroyed yet would do it all over again and give anything to be able to trade hands one more time.......and a man like Haye who clearly was never a fighter in his heart.
-
I never like to have a pop at a fighter but Haye has gone right down in my estimations.....just approaching his peak,at the top of his division......he,s treated the sport thats made him rich very badly......would he be retiring at 31 if he was still a cruiserweight,of course he wouldnt.....nobody likes to see a man walk in and exploit the sport thats been so good to some and so cruel to others....to David Haye the sports been very good he,s never been in any real ring wars, has made a lot of money on limited ability at heavyweight.....it certainly leaves a sour taste in the mouth of ex fighter

Best news ive had in months !...I dont know any West Ham fan who was remotely enthusiastic about moving there......Id rather rebuild the East Stand that would up the attendance by 12-15,000......a 42,000 capacity is plenty big enough for us and we could keep all the history of Upton Park. Let the Yids have it or if nutty Barry Hearns that keen for us not to have it lets see him put his money where his mouth is and fill it with 4,000 Orient fans ! Like many other great projects in this country we didnt think it through.....who wants an Olympic legacy anyway........pull the f****r down afte

Tagged along on a few wild boar hunts, coyote, elk and the like about 10 years ago round Arizona way......bit too hot for me but a great experience nonetheless

gnasher16 replied to judge2010's topic in General Talk
Cant think of any celebs that id go out of my way to be in the company of.......but id have given my right bollock to have shared some time with Bobby Moore....he,s been my hero for a long time and the only person id really like to have met but never did..... -
Well in son, good for you ..............if you raised a few bob for charity then good man...if you just did it for the challenge then equally well done. Get yourself some ice baths but keep mobile.......hopefully you did enough training for it beforehand that it wont put you on your arse for the next few weeks..

All this talk of knowing and working for famous people
gnasher16 replied to Gunner123's topic in General Talk
I know for a fact the actor Ray Winstone regularly looked in on the fishing section of this website a few years ago.....dont know if he still does. -
Thats the boy yes ...got his nickname from his ol man....we both had fighting fathers in eager anticipation, difference is he would have beaten his ol man i wouldnt have lived with mine ....had a lot of tragedy in his life but is a fine man who im proud to call a friend.

Ive known Frank since we were young he,s still exactly the same person, never got too big for his boots...wouldnt say we,re close friends but speak every now and then.....im reasonably friendly with quite a few of the London boxing chaps past and present....my bestest pal in the world from back since childhood is not famous but a well known fella round these parts but for all the wrong reasons unfortunately....Probably the most famous person i could say im friends with is pretty much unknown in England but a big name in America a man called Ray Mancini he won a world title as a boxer i met him

Its too easy to say " they get great wages so they should perform "...sport just dont work like that.....they are not the best players in the land, very good players yes,a few world class players yes......but not the best in the land. The media in this country is a disgrace.....ive spoke to a lot of people in other countries who just cant believe what our media does to our own sports stars.....we are one of the only countries in world sport who see more value in creating and selling controversy than they see value in backing our own athletes......no it doesnt give players an excuse for bad per

I dont think theres much doubt it will be an Englishman, and rightly so....more than likely Redknapp but i think if Newcastle continue the way they are Alan Pardew will be up there with a shout, possibly Roy Hodgson but for me it has to be Harry Redknapp. I dont think its a case of Capello struggling to motivate the team ive thought for a while now the English game as a whole has just become too continental....the influence the foreign players and managers has had on our domestic game has caused our complete way of playing to change, the English game was never about this slow build up 50 sideway
