Nobody forgot him Stig....his mortgage was paid off he,s had numerous donations through the brain and spine foundation......NOTHING good comes out of these accidents so its no compensation at all......but thats one of the beauties of British boxing that doesnt happen anywhere else,we look after our own....from Spencer Oliver to Rod Douglas...Michael Watson to Paul Ingle......even the family of little Bradley Stone, have all recieved plenty of support financial and emotional.........compare that to poor Gerald Mcclellan in America who was left to rot, even then it took English ex boxers to help h

Pyatt wasnt at his peak mate he only had 3 or 4 fights after that then retired.......Eubank might of been the younger man but again only had another 4 or 5 fights after and lost 3 of them 2 to Carl Thmpson who he would never of lost to at his peak..............you cant just go by age a 32 year old can still have plenty more left in the tank than a 27 year old depending how hard their careers been.....i dont think anybody would say the Eubank that Steve Collins beat was the same Eubank that beat Benn..... But we all have opinions mate thats fair enough
-
Benn did have a poor chin you are right......but i dont think Collins would have lived with his intensity, power and competetive spirit at his best or put a dent in Eubank at his best either.....Collins was one of those efficient fighters, wasnt great at anything but good at everything...and like with many fighters timing went his way,he caught those 2 right at the end but avoided a young Calzaghe by about a year.
-
Lovely fighter Chris was...real crisp and accurate puncher............used to get all his sparring down at the Royal Oak as well ...didnt he get his pro trainers licence recently id expect to hear his name soon if he trains with the same intensity he fought at.
-
Couldnt agree with that mate.....Collins was in the right place at the right time and was a good fighter and a tough guy so fair do,s...............but Benn and Eubank were all washed up by the time he fought them.....even when Collins won the title he nicked it off a washed up Chris Pyatt.....i dont believe he would of beat any of those 3 in their prime.....he was a clever fighter Collins,in and out of the ring
-
nigel benn was a good boxer Sometimes a fighter just has your number.....Eubank had Benns, just like Norton had Ali,s......just as we saw this wknd Marquez seems to have Paquiao,s
-
This is absolutely right..........the only people who would say " he cant take a punch " etc etc are people who have never been hit by a 16 stone fighter !.........It doesnt matter if your 20 stone,if you get caught flush by a 16 stone man your going down........the test of a fighter is how fast he recuperates and to give him his due Fury does seem to have decent powers of recovery he showed the same in the Chisora fight................what would worry me is how easily he is getting tagged by limited opposition....that fella last night has had no ko,s in his last 7 wins, indicating he is not th

Paquiao lost that fight by at least 3 rounds.....Marquez fought a perfect fight, kept him off balance and counterpunched him beautifully......he made Paquiao wary of throwing big shots and thats what all good counterpunchers do...........on that showing Mayweather would destroy Paquiao, and in short order as well..... You only had to see Paquiao/Roach,s expressions at the final bell to see they knew they had lost.......i wouldnt like to say it was a corrupt decision, but it was certainly a very bad one.

Who gives a shite about the national team.

The sign of a good team is one that can adapt to whatevers in front of them..........give me a victory over pretty football any day of the week. -
None.....its his way of being cocky saying he didnt need water......have you ever tried taking on water with a gumshield in The thing is these youngsters cant pick and choose their trainers.....the top trainers in the country just dont have time to dedicate to the hours these kids need at this stage of their career.....
-
I know for a fact one of the best trainers in the country was recently asked to train Fury......and he said no.............hence he has ended up with Chris Johnson after sacking his uncle......again,another reason why Furys people must step back and allow proper boxing people to manage his career..........its what Billy Joe Saunders did and his career is flying.

Playing the worst style of football, the English game of organisation, discipline, hard work and good solid technical ability got us a 1-0 win today against the world champions..........or should we have played 1 touch keepy uppies and back heels on the way to a 5 nil defeat !! -
I dont know if its just me getting old but i found that hard to watch.......boxings a sport i love and that whole thing was a total fiasco........i was at the York Hall for the Colin Lynes fight the other night and the 10 bells for Joe Frazier was observed impeccably.....not like them bunch of monkeys tonight laughing and shouting through it........then you got a bunch of f****n spastics jumping about screaming and pushing outside the ring its an embarrasment to our sport. As for the fight itself...................a terrible performance from Fury he could f**k his career up if he doesnt start
-
No ive never seen him fight he spent most of his amateur career in America i know he won a golden gloves title not sure which state though...think he only had 20 odd fights. Didnt like all the silly build up and the attitude on a pro debut....not nice to see that and im surprised the ol mans carrying on like he is to be honest.....impossible at this stage to tell how far the kid will go but he looks lively.
-
When i was fighting i learned pretty early on i wasnt a world class fighter with a big future, hence i made the best of what i had and it didnt need a big change in lifestyle to do that.........this kid Fury is lucky enough to possibly have a very bright future in front of him...but thats going to need dedication, listening and learning from the right people..................what he doesnt need is all the " hard man i,ll fight anyone " nonsense that seems to go hand in hand with gypsies.....he needs to surround himself with experienced honest boxing people who are going to lead him along the rig
-
I couldnt care less what he does with his ground,as you rightly say its his to do whatever he likes with.......what i can never understand is why people like you even care.....you have no interest in what happens on a football pitch and hate everything about what happens off it....so what difference does it make to you !......when folk are obssessive over the money involved in something they have no interest in its usually a good indicator of a touch of jealousy................spoilt and ignorant just how many of these lads do you personally know ?.....im sure theres some decent lads playing
-
Price beat him convincingly in the aba,s i think thats what took Price to the Olympics instead of Fury...but i might be wrong.......they,ll be kept apart for a while yet and rightly so. For me the best thing young Fury could do is get himself away from all this Gypsy stuff......ok it might sell papers but for his boxing career he needs to go away somewhere and keep his nut down with a good trainer who will bring out the best of whatever he has to offer....sometimes you gotta be cruel to be kind he needs to drop all the idiots around him banging on about travelling family this his father th

Its worth remembering......10 year ago,20/30/40 years ago poppies were not worn at all by any sportsman during any sporting event.........its only the advent of sophisticated equipment that folk are now crying out for poppies on football shirts, stitched into players boots and what not...... Years ago a football team would have 1 or 2 changes of kit per season.....now they never wear the same shirt twice !...........The wars/conflicts/poppies are nothing new and neither is the meaning of wearing them.....if there wasnt the Iraq/Afghanistan stuff going on would all this poppy thing be as big ne

Highbury is now blocks of flats !!........if people like you took more interest in what happens on a football pitch and a little less interest in what happens off a pitch it would be a better game for everyone............. For true fans of football these are the greatest times in history to be an English fan of football.....we have the worlds great players on view to take our sons to see on a weekly basis. For bitter jealous old women with no real interest in the game i guess these are hard times....for us who love watching and supporting our clubs, these are great times.....

Piss off theres not one !

A sparring partner to who ? his career is off and running the only sparring partners he needs now are for fight preparation................times have changed mate, when i was young we would learn from each other through gym wars....nobody has gym wars anymore those days are gone theres too much money to be won or lost............whats the old saying " dont leave your best fight in the gym " Back years ago being a sparring partner was a career of which you could make a good living.....today theres no such thing they are just called journeyman fighters for a young prospect to notch up a few win
-
Why do you want to be educated about something you dont even care about ......I think this constant bashing of footballers by people with no real interest in football is wearing a bit thin now.
-
So the person in the petrol station thought she was under 16.........and shes 29.. ........dont know if id take that as a compliment or smack them round the chops !

On the same day Joe Frazier died a great old boy from East London by the name Jackie Bowers died aged 73......im sure many of the boxing fans on here will probably have heard of the Bowers family there name go,s back over 100 years in the sport ive known Tony and Martin from years back they started up The Peacock gym in Canning Town out of which many London boxers have come.......ok they might not be squeaky clean characters but have always been a very loyal family.... Jackie lost a close points decision to the Welsh World Champion Howard Winstone before becoming a trainer to the likes of Mau

Well ive never used ehedrine.....honest ......so i,ll leave you to work it out for yourself mate which you will if you apply the glass half full theory rather than the glass half empty ...i see it virtually on a daily basis......the fact your taking unknown doseages of any substance before athletic competition i find staggering ...anyway f**k all that. Freddie Roach is one of the worlds top boxing trainers do you think fighters are going to go with him and not improve their boxing ability............Khan probably cant take a shot any better now than he could before but he has become techni
