  1. Funny you should say that TC. My mrs and I were in a pub in Carmarthen watching the rugby during the 6 nations. It was rammed full of big hairy Welshmen (and women, lol) and they were the friendliest bunch going. A couple of them even sat at our table and we had a good craic all afternoon. There was some good-hearted piss-taking from both sides, but nothing that went too far. I USED to think the Welsh hated the English, and i can't say it's completely untrue, but luckily I've never been on the receiving end of it. Maybe I'm just very likeable. Many a true word spoken in jest Wals
  2. this is the prob to day mate, the lot of them welsh, scotch and above live in the past regards England , and (don't) wont to forget , a very primitive attitude , that wont move forward Pretty damning statement that Ray, you've came to Wales and been treated with respect and didn't whin have up his for a few days..........primitive pmsl !! very true johnny yes a lot of lads ive met from other places have been spot on, whin was good to me you are right. But I get the feeling lads like your self etc. are a minority if I am honest . many a time been on holiday with wife +son g
  3. Some have not been on, and judging by the tone of Paulus status, he is not messing around. Anyone who has not paid by Monday could be..What was the term he used?...."Removed"...Even if they cannot afford it then let people know, so it can be offered to the next person, it might just save their Removal. 4. Pressure stocks is basically the effort that is put into fishing for them. For example in northern waters there is very little commercial fishing for bass by big boats. In southern waters most of the fishing for bass by big pair trawlers is done when the fish start migrating from the southwest approaches. Once they spread out the fishery is not really viable to the big boats and is left to smaller boats, who really cannot subject the fishery to much pressure. The nursery areas are to be honest a load of bollucks. But it looks good preservation wise. But, what they don't tell you is that by

      lol I like that.

  6. The licence it is for the life of the boat or longer. The only quotas you get are for pressure stock fish only, plaice cod sole etc. Non pressure stock fish like bass skate mackerel there is no quota you can catch as much as you can and as far as I am aware there is no limit for shell fish bar the size limit. TC
  7. When I first had my licence, they were given to you. Before then you only had to register the boat and have your port numbers. Licences started off @ around the £ per unit not sure what they are now, but they are an investment, and will never loose money. TC

  12. If the boat does not have a licence, you will need to know it's VCU Vessel capacity units, to work out how much the licence is going to cost you. This is the formula used to find the VCU of a boat. (Length over all X Breadth) + ( Engine Power X 0.45 ) Lenght and Breadth are in Meters Engine Power is in Kilowatts ( Kw) note:To convert horsepower to kilowatts divide the horsepower by 1.341. example: boat length = 6 meters, breadth = 2.5meters, Engine power = 20Kilowatts therefore ( 6m X 2.5m ) + ( 20 X 0.45 ) = ( 15 ) + ( 9 ) = 24 VCU's - See more at: http://www.findafishingboat.co
  13. I had a Johnson 25hp 2stroke and a reed valve broke, had to have a complete rebuild the parts were sourced locally and at a reasonable price. Great engines when they are running but terrible if they are a little bit off. TC
  14. I was told once that some people do not like collie crosses because the dog was more intelligent than they were. Is there any truth in that? TC
  15. Last words on the subject from me. Matt the new rules are not being taken well, nothing new there. But people may feel less resentment towards the rules if all members were treated equally? In other words an equal playing field for all. Fairness. Do you have a problem with that? TC I'd personally like to know what the deal is, whats the point in this topic? For any retards or wind up merchants looking for a bite, there's clear guidelines at the top of the general talk section stating the rules. Now if you cannot live with the fact, that your not allowed on here to post image

  17. I see no problem with the clean up, the link thumbnail I highlighted is probably someone who liked THL on facebook and is linked through the like. But, the fact still remains that the thumbnail image is still visible on THL, where we have been told on numerous occasions lately that images of that ilk will not be tolerated. TC I'm not sure if this will make sense, but whilst those pictures are visible from this site, they are not actually on the site. We can control what is on this site (or try to, lol ) , but we can't control what folks post on Facebook. Matt be careful what you are sayi

  20. What I am getting at is that a member on facebook is allowed to show female flesh, yet a member on here is not. If you went to the forum home page and did click on the photo this is what you would have seen. Totally innocent images that are not allowed on the forum. Yet are allowed it seems, if you are a facebook member? TC
  21. Over the last few months I have been getting fields above some topic titles, I put it down to the members names that always had the fields above the topic titles using mobile phones or Ipads to make posts, the same as their emoticons do not show up on the forum. Today though it has gone crazy with nearly every post having one of these fields. Obviously it must be something to do with the new rules and IanB sorting out the avatars. What I do not understand though, is why is there one rule for the forum and the same rule does not exist for facebook members? As stated just an observat
  22. you aware of the complete total of the auction and donations TC. The total amount of pledges raised by the auction is £4793.33 plus some have donated more than their actual bids. A real big thank you to them. I do not know what the straight donation total is, sorry. TC
  23. New total as of this morning for payments received and confirmed. £3,019.27 Great response people. TC
  24. When you do the second row of half meshes you will have 1 full mesh 3rd row 1.5 meshes 4th row 2 meshes. Say you were making a 5 yard stop net in 4.5" mesh 2.25" board. you would start with 12 loops on the board and every 16 rows 8 meshes you would have a stretched yard of net. Most nets are what is known as rigged by halves, that is the finished net is half it's stretched length. If the net is to be 5 yards finished length that means it will be 10 yards stretched length 160 rows meshes long. When knitting the net is does seem as if there are not enough meshes to get the depth needed bu
