  1. FFS, It's a spade! we all know Frankie boy won't listen to a word of it, let him break his vintage wooden spade, sit for hours waiting for a no show, then get home and have another blazing row with his wife! Then He'll get a proper one from work and get on with it!
  2. Class..... love the second vid, the pup looks well chuffed- going for the throat as if he just pulled down a stag by himself,
  3. I would Always rather go out with the right tools and not need them, than go out without em and be hopping around like a right tit, kicking yourself, Frank, To me the spade looks ok for light, sandy soil, (hard to tell from a pic, and only you know where you are going to use it) It looks like a 4x4 spade- for digging out bogged down wheels so wouldn't need to be especially tough, the main problem for me would be that it's got a wooden shaft (and an old 1 at that) the time you find out how strong it is- is when you need it most, snap it then and you're buggered. QUOTE(Zeus @ Jul 27 2006, 07:40 PM) thats sounds like a wifes reply to me !!! Not at all Mate, If you'd read some of my other posts, you'd know that I am very much Male, just because I can string a sentence together, Keep my women happy and enjoy all the things I like doing without it upsetting my family life! That might seem a bit strange to some of you, but thats what comes of being a well rounded person, Inteligent enough to have free thought and not to be led into rediculous situations by kids and grumpy old men who should know better.
  6. Cracking looking pups mate, correct me if I'm wrong............. I worked the breeding out as, 9/16 Grey, 1/4 Bull, 1/8 Saluki, 1/16 Collie. sounds like a winner to me,

I tell you what fellas, reading some of these replies it amazes me how half of you keep hold of your women, and why some of you would even want to! It's a two way street, there's a lot to be said for the saying "you reap what you sow" if your not bothered about your other halves, or not interested in trying to make them happy, then what the hell are you doing in the relationship? It's no good sticking around "for the sake of the kids", constant arguing and bickering will ultimately make them more unhappy than if you left and they will just resent you even more for it. Never mind weath

  9. That is just incomprehensable!!! My god! First you guys walk toward blazing fires. Now you have to put up with That??? Where the hell's the RESPECT button on this thing?! It honestly brings tears to my eyes when I consider the unadulterated selflessness of the Fire Fighters. I Salute You! Many Thanks for that DS, I've been keeping an eye on your posts of late and I can honestly say I'd rather be you right now, out on my smallholding, trapping mink.
  10. Summer hols and hot weather is a bad combination if you are a firefighter, iam a full time firefighter in County Durham and we have been run of our feet this last couple of weeks, and the school hols have just started Some fell fires can burn for days , once the fire gets into the peat its a b*****d to put out. Keeps, I'm whole time too mate, back on at 7 in the bloody morning, like you said the kids have already had us run off our feet and the holls have only just begun! I don't know if you have heard of it...... the seven trent sewage treatment plant near Coleshill? the sewage lagoo
  11. it's that time of year I'm afraid lads, I'm a FireFighter in the West Mids and we have to deal with hundreds of grass fires through the "summer holidays" makes you feel like slapping the little buggers  sometimes you can see plumes of smoke appearing further across the fields, as you put one out the buggers are lighting more, sometimes we can spend most of the shift just chasing grass fires from field to field (or park etc)
  12. I was actually taking the p1ss about the warrener video.... Without seeing it I would say that the Glen Waters vid would be well worth a look,
  13. If things go right the rabbit will take off for its next hop and break its neck as it jumps up with the wire around its neck. :11:  :11:  :11:  :11:  Me thinks someone has been watching the Warreners videos again,
  14. I also like the "Little Chat" method, I think I would have a chat to the local police too, file a formal complaint and give a statement, stating that he threatened you with his shotgun and although you MUST use the path to get to your field, you are reluctant to because you fear for your life! If he doesn't get prosecuted he might lose his shotgun licence, (or just steal and sell all his cattle, then he has no stock to worry does he)
  15. No expert myself mate but try covering the floor of the trap with soil or leaves to prevent the fox being spooked by the mesh,
  16. I too would use Tripe mate, Twelsh, I think if you're paying 60p a lb for minced tripe you're being ripped off mate.
  17. I feed all Raw........ Chicken carcases, Turkey necks, Turkey wings, Tripe and minced Beef, Rabbit, Pork neck bones, whole fish, and a couple of times a week with the mince I mix in pulped Fruit N Veg - raw egg (inc shells)- natural yogurt - and Cod Liver oil. Works for Me anyway, The dogs love it and I can honestly say that since I have gone Raw, that their coats, skin and temperament has improved dramatically. Rabbit Hunter, try giving your dogs The Rabbit and Mackeral whole instead of minced, they will love it and it muscle strength in the jaw and neck, it also helps clean
  18. Nellie, I think you can rest assured that We're all very happy with the pups, they are a credit to you and if May turns out half as good as her mom Kiera I'll be well chuffed. now she's over 6 months I'll start running her a bit more, not on game of course, just get her running a bit harder and further getting those lungs going and starting to build her up. I intend to get her on game around new year and hopefully I'll have plenty of photos, in the mean time I'll try to keep the pics coming as the training continues and she matures a bit. Thanks again Nellie Leigh.
  19. No Worries WS, firstly...... he said he let it go because it was too young, then asked how to finish the job. secondly.... as I said, learn to do it in theory before you try, If possible go out with someone who can show you how to do it properly (and they can finish it off if you screw it up the first time) Lastly.... He seems like a decent enough lad, so if anyone lives over his way, why not take the lad out and show him the ropes a bit. I wasn't having a dig either mate just trying to give a bit of advise, I have spent years learning what I do and I
  20. Nice looking pooch moomin, but I guess I would say that, This is may, now 6 months too.... The retrieve is coming on now... She's about 24" TTS now, (I told my Mrs she stopped growing about a month ago  ) Matty g, She should be out with Dom by christmas I reckon mate,
  21. A couple of trips to the gym will sort that out for you mate, LOL. My main point really was to make sure you can do it properly before you go catching them and wondering what to do next, as we said, as long as your own way works for you crack on with it,
  22. Fisherben, I'm not knocking you for "having a go" mate and I hope you do well if you decide to continue snaring and hunting but I think you should be learning how to humainly dispatch your quarry before you attempt to catch it. The way I was taught is as already described, (Necking or Chinning) don't bother messing around with "Karate chops", Hold the rabbit either by the back legs or the saddle in one hand and with the other hold the rabbit with the crook of your thumb across the back of the neck, (thumb pointing towards you) and the fingers wrapping around the side of the rabbits face and
  23. Now don't get me wrong guys, I shoot, hunt, kill, fish and do as much field sports as possible. so....is it just me or dont you give a shit about your dogs? if the dog isn't doing the business for you, move them on, give them away, but to give them a lead sleaping pill just because they're not quite what you want just seems out of order to me. I do love the yote hunting thread, and would like some pics up if there are any going. like I said, I'm not against hunting in any form but killing your own dogs that you have reared and trained up is just shit.
  24. If you start doing that mate the dog will have trained you So what are you meant to do then? just leave the lure sitting there? you have to pick it up at some point to continue the session. I have this problem at the moment with my 5 1/2 month old pup, I find walking backwards calling her as she comes in helps, then when you stop she should be more or less at your feet, you take the dummy and give loads of praise, (and a tid bit if thats how you train). if she drops it short just pick it up without making eye contact and ignore her for a minute or so, then call her over, get her e
