  1. Right then........... at the risk of upsetting/ boring people or going over old ground I have a query for you all, I would like opinions about lurcher type, and suitability for me and my needs, Quarry... I will be mainly using it for rabbits but want it to be capable of taking fox's (etc) too. the dog.... Idealy it would be calm, not too hyper, fairly easily trainable, able to mix with other dogs and people, but can turn it on when needed. well socialised goes without saying but i guess that would be down to the breeder. Me.... I will be training it myself, bearing in min
  2. Went out yesterday afternoon for a couple of hours on some new permission I picked up in the morning, (couple of hundred acres) used the long and purse nets around 1 bury and scored 9 bunnies, was only there for 2 hours, I was going to take pics of the land and the bury but only managed this 1 pic before my camera battery ran out,

  5. Hi All, I just wondered if anyone around the west midlands area worked lurchers on rabbits etc and would like an extra pair of hands for the day, or if you don't need any help just wouldn't mind me tagging along. I work ferrets and shoot etc but I would like to learn more about running dogs, I intend to get a lurcher in the new year and think meeting up with people who work them and know the score would be a great help, also if anyone knows of any decent books/videos/dvd's which would help with training that would be great, any info/ advise would be welcomed, cheers
  6. I wouldn't go out without a locator on the ferrets, not just the bunnies you could lose! I value my ferrets too much to risk loosing them cos I didn't have a locator. Jordan, Its called progress mate....... you dont go by candle light now we have those marvelous light bulbs do you,
  7. Hi Guys, I'm new on here and just going through a few topics, I always use a locator and think that they are an invaluable piece of kit, My only gripe is why they insist on only putting the transmitter on a collar, I have known lots of ferrets to slip the collar (although only happened to me personally once) so I always take the transmitter off and attach it to a nylon harness. I've never had or heard of anyone having any problems with them, just wish they would make them as standard.
