Once late afternoon/early evening! if they've been working hard then they get something when I stop for Lunch. I used to give a Mars bar but Chocolate really isn't good for dogs. Got a great Idea off this site (can't remember who told me sorry) a tin of custard. They get the Gluecose boost they need and you can tell the differance later in the day if they haven't had anything. Cheers Luke.

I must admit for any stir fry that I do I cheat, just buy the frozen stir fry veg (straight from the freezer to the pan and the sauces I get in packets from Morrisons!!! tastes great (especially the Chow Mein one!!!) and only takes about 15 mins start to finish! Flash fry the Rabbit/chicken in hot oil for a few mins dump the veg on top, add the sauce and give it a good stir, job done! as simple as that!

live bait never fails roach/small trout In most places, live bait isn't allowed anymore (hence the oily fish) but your right it used to work a treat.

I've always used sprats with two treble hooks stuck through the spine (one just in front of the dorsel fin and one in the side of the tail) if theirs not much oil coming off them, then get some anchovy paste and squeeze some in the hole where the guts were, hung under a decent Pike float/bung and cast near the reeds usually works for me!

Well finally got fed up with Roo pulling himself out of his collar when ever he felt like it (big neck, little head!) so thought I'd order a proper Lurcher collar. After a bit of searching on here, two members kept coming up again and again, Strongstuff for the quality heavy duty collar's and DDD for quality Leather. I already have a perfect collar from Strongstuff for the Bullmastiff but was after a leather Lurcher collar so a quick look at DDD's website The Gamekeepers Shed and I had one picked out, a few PM's backward and forward, bit of confusion on my part with Paypal (only ever used it

I'd second Hyperdrug, I've been ordering bit and pieces (including Drontal Plus) from them for a while now and their service so far has been second to none. -

dogs, single or doubled on foxes
bullmastiff replied to moter poacher's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
He's on about a dogs first time and if it could be of been entered single handed? (as stated some people didn't have a choice) I merely stated that if a dog struggled (through lack of experience or just a mouth full of arse) with it's first fox then a helping hand might be required (usually supplied in the form of a more experienced dog). Personally I'd rather of wet a knife than have a dog badly cut up or Mr Red get away. JMO -
dogs, single or doubled on foxes
bullmastiff replied to moter poacher's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
some people don't have a choice! only owning one Lurcher and not having any friends with Lurchers severly limits your options! the dog should be able to stop it quick enough but if it's struggling to finish it off then big boots and a knife could come in handy! -
dog has a flat foot??
bullmastiff replied to danny boi's topic in Working Dog Health & Training Talk
Is their any chance of a photo of a flat footed Lurcher and one with normal feet? Roo's toes point straight out, not tucked in tight like Tia's. Is this bad? is their anything I should be doing about it? he seems to be able to move his toes fine though? Few dodgey photo's of his feet, (sorry cam phone) Cheers Luke. -
When I was an underkeeper I was told unless you already have a high concentration of duck then never to feed the bank (encourages rats) and to only feed water betwween 1/2 and 1 foot deep (unless the pond/lake's big enough for geese) then out to 3 feet. We always fed Barley a couple of hours after lunch so as not to disturb the lake too much. Even a small amount of feed might help, then as long as the barley's disapearing then increase the amount. Cheers Luke.

Thank you everyone for your repies and Best wishes, FPO we went to Glen coe last year on a camping trip! stopped in Yorkshire (Hawes) for 5 nights then on to Glen coe. As close as they would allow us with Emily and Tia! Emily was too young for the temperature at the top -6º with 35 MPH winds and they don't like thin coated dogs going up (hypothermia!) I'll check out the Castle, Thank you everyone. Luke.

Heard a story from a guy at work, reckoned he parked near the stadium and a couple of kids asked him for a fiver to watch the car for him, told them not to worry as he'd left his rottie in the car to guard it, so one of them quietly asked if it was any good at putting out fires. He paid the fiver!!!

Thanks for replies, Mackem I tried that! they won't issue anything until they've done the interview and they won't do the interview until they've done a security check! I even tried explaining that I've got full MOD S.C.+ clearance (because of work) so she would of had a full check due to us living together, but still nothing!!! I'll give it a look, thanks Maltenby.

I'll be getting Married on the 16th of August and had 2 weeks booked off work for the Honeymoon BUT... we phoned the Passport office to find out where the hell Lisa's passport had got to and they told us they hadn't even started processing it as their waiting to interview her (all first time passport applicants must be interviewed now apparently?) so as you can guess BIG PROBLEM!!! Tuscany is off and I need to sort something in this country quickly! So the big question is WHERE/WHAT??? I'm after something exciting, dramatic or adventurous you know the type of thing! I've been saving up for

Taunton Vale Harriers Hunt Supporters show
bullmastiff replied to welshphil's topic in Gamefairs, Meet Up's and Events
I got there about 3.30pm with my daughter and dogs, tried chatting to a few people watching the terriers but just got mainly dirty looks and silence, so sat down watching the last of the Lurcher classes and got a more civil reception, chatting to a guy with a black bull whippet (he won under 23" bitch) then started watching the Terriers again once he left, only to hear a couple of people asking one of the organizers stood behind me why I was there as I clearly didn't work terriers (I only went for a day out with my daughter and to show some support for a local hunt). Surely they couldn't of th -

Was in Crewekerne yesterday and found a small secondhand book shop. I could of spent a fortune in there as it had several shelves full of old hunting, shooting and fishing books. When I saw these two little gems I knew I couldn't leave them sat there unread, so £20 later, I'm now the proud owner of 'The countryman's Bedside Book' and 'The Idle Countryman' written by 'BB' and illustrated by D.J Watkins-Pitchford
