    I agree with most of what you say there Frank, but what if you're new to the game, or maybe have no wish to be 'in the right circles?' I'm new to the game, but listening to other dog boys, all they do is slag each other off & each others dogs, even when they're good mates. Same on here, people are so quick to slate others for whatever reason. Then you've got the grasses.... i hear what your saying you have to trust sometime or if you stand alone you take the risks theres allways risks just got to minimise them!

    the larger acrege the better but it has more to do with the suitabilatyof the land weather or not it is considered safe to use the rifle on unless your lucky and the land is allready cleared for that calibre!

    ok it has to have the genetic inprint in there (instinct to hunt) but like you say it has to have the oppertunaty to be able to use it the more it does the better at it it gets or should do some will naturally be better at it than others those are the ones were are looking for

    .38 special smith 'wesson revolver very accurate and managable recoil cant be bothered with the pistols now but it was a shame they had to go cant remember what we got for them but it wasnt anything like what they we worth!

    Is there a bit of confusion here? An open FAC gives you the right to shoot over any land cleared for the calibre you use. A closed FAC only entitles you to shoot over land for which you have written permission. Nothing to do with target/field shooting. I can see no reason for refusing you a closed FAC to shoot over land for which you have written permission. Get written permission to shoot, say, rabbits and pest birds on a given piece of land with your calibre and your FAC should agree.     you just never know were you stand with these licencing dept each area is different at one time as soon as you got a centrefire that was it you got an open ticketon everything but i have heard of some regions that are becoming calibre persificon this condition they seem to change the goal posts whenever it suits them
