  1. do these links involve flaming ferret mods? Y.I.S Leeview
  2. No-one said ALL deaf ferrets have Waardenburgs. If you're going to debate this, at least stick to what was said and cease making it up as you go along. thats the first positive answer you've given on Waardenburgs, and could it not also be true that not all (your own included) splodgey ferrets have waardenburgs? Which without making it up as I go along brings me back to how many actual cases of waardenburgs have occurred in the UK? Perhaps Bob Church's research will throw some info up to enlighten Y.I.S Leeview
  3. That's a nice article. Here's another.
  4. Thank you so its not definitive that they are exactly the same then? possibly their ferrets are susceptable to genetic disorders that the Uk's ferrets are nt ? will have to wait for his findings then when will they be published? and how many ferret will of had samples taken from? Y.I.S Leeview
  5. Why did Bob Church travel the world taking samples from ferrets for genetic testing? commander data has stated there all the same whether there here or USA or did I get that wrong? Y.I.S Leeview
  6. It's not just pet owners who are concerned about genetic defects, mate. I value working ferrets and have no desire to see them fecked up by people breeding for trivial things like funny colours! The ferret gene pool is already "fecked up" enough, without all of this colour daftness. How many breeders, I wonder, keep full and accurate records of their ferrets? All of them? If this is the case why do they use ferrets in medical research? Y.I.S Leeview
  7. you'll be saying next droid actually works his ferrets Y.I.S Leeview
  8. Please forgive me if this is a stupid question, but is it your assertion that UK and American ferrets have a different genetic makeup? Are perhaps even different sub-species? I'm just trying to understand what it is that you're claiming. Wouldn't waste your breath mate. The bloke seems to think a genetic disorder like Waardenburgs and a disease like rabies are the same sort of thing. ..oh, and welcome to the forum! No Mal what I said was they both occur in the USA, and asked for positive proof of waardenburgs actually being in the UK? which has not been forthcoming as yet. Ferret
  9. Sorry forgot about that bit. Thesis I think you must be referring to the time when someone (was it you?) claimed that someone else had said they were writing something about Waardenburg's in ferrets. That person said that they hadn't said anything of the sort, and nobody else seemed to have heard anything like that. So I think the general conclusion was that something had been misheard or misunderstood. Anyway, I wasn't there at the time and know nothing more about it apart from what was posted a few years so it's no good asking me about it Yes thats right the time your frie
  10. droid +funferret for 2 supposedly educated people one being a retired teacher the other medical researcher, when I ask a question of you why do you sidestep a straight answer, you gave me a link to an American site when I clearly asked for a UK site defining this problem, I know Waardenburgs is found in American bloodlines dont deny that but would like proof it is occurring in the UK? Is that too much to ask? All I'm after is evidence of it actually occuring in the UK thats all Y.I.S Leeview

  13. You've already had 2 examples of Waardenburgs ferrets, 'Lee'. Your comments on working and showing are irrelevent prejudice. There's none so blind as will not see. You are dead right there. Given that your knowledge of Waardenburgs is sketchy to say the least, and you don't seem to have much of a grasp of genetics, all I can say to you is this: Jog on mate. 2 unsubstantiated claims have been made 1 deaf ferret and 1 marked similar to a USA ferret with Waardenburgs but nothing scientific so far Why are the working and showing irrelevant prejudice? you have nt had ferrets t
  14. Thank you, now are these scientific studies based on UK or foreign i.e other countries ferrets? can you give me these relevant links? Theres none so blind as those that dont want see well go back and answer my questions to you about MF+MN Y.I.S Leeview
  15. Well ok then you being a researcher you provide substantiated evidence of occurencies Y.I.S Leeview
  16. OK so which line of greyhound would you use in the grews make up? Y.I.S Leeview
  17. No problem droid I take from your lack of evidence that I asked for that you dont have any proof? and keep side stepping the questions I ask I'll once again state in over 50yrs of keeping ferrets I've never come across or met anyone thats come across a ferret with Waardenburgs (Aleutians yes) on the other hand you have had ferrets 5yrs as pets, dont work them or show them claim to know that Waardenburgs exists in the UK but decline to say where your beleifs come from Y.I.S Leeview
  18. I'm well aware that's your opinion. One which you're perfectly entitled to. So once again you come out with a statement that you cant back up Y.I.S Leeview What? The statement that you're entitled to your opinion, 'Lee'? no the known instances you reclkon to know of it existing in the UK go on prove me wrong you know you wish you could Y.I.S Leeview
  19. OK got some pics the first 2 are finished awaiting collection, I try to make them from 3 pieces of wood 2 sides and the perimeter, they have anti-friction bearings to keep them free spinning and not wear the wood away, there balanced so that it moves by the ferret climbing in and the ferret then keeps it going or stops and gets out the 3rd pic is in situ in the ferret hutch this one has perspex sides which I managed to get hold of they're painted inside and the outside has3 coats of SIKKENS to weatherproof it Y.I.S Leeview
  20. deafness is common in a lot of white breeds of animals but just because it does nt make ALL of those animals deaf does it, hows MF doing with his thesis on ferrets with white patches on their head are deaf? when he was only 16 you denied it ever happened at the time till your very good friend put you right Did you ever make it up with MN? Y.I.S Leeview

  22. Life's too short 'Lee'. And I'm sure that's what your last post on Flaming was, but the damage was done earlier. Waardenburgs is a 'syndrome', ie a set of symptoms any of which point to a known neurodevelopmental problem. Not all of the symptoms need to be there to 'prove' the syndrome. But I'm sure you knew that already. Clearly your comparing a genetic problem to a viral disease was just in jest. No pics of the ferret. I'm not that sad. I know what my ferrets look like, I don't need to take pics of them all. Anyway I'm crap at posting pics up. Lets get one thing straight here, '
  23. Credit where Credits due your doing them fine Y.I.S Leeview
  24. Let's have a bit of a history lesson here. The main reason Leeview has a thing about whether Waardenburgs exists in this country is that about 2 years ago there was a very long and bitter debate on Flaming Ferret regarding the breeding of Waardenburgs ferrets by the Show fraternity. Leeview (in an alter ego) dived in with both feet and made a complete spanner of himself. He hates the person who started the debate, and anyone who supported him (like me boo hoo) And yes, I have a Waardenburgs marked ferret. She's asleep in the ferret room at the mo. Silver mitt jill. Not deaf, as far
  25. My ferrets exercise themselves in a 17" ferret wheel they all use it some more than others and keep the speed going for an incredible time Y.I.S Leeview
