  1. 'Lee' What has the amount of time I've kept ferrets for got to do with my knowledge of ferret genetics, or genetics in general? You've kept them for '50 years' and seem to know very little about their genetics.....
  2. Ferrets ill for 3 days and no vet? Christ on a bike!
  3. You've already had 2 examples of Waardenburgs ferrets, 'Lee'. Your comments on working and showing are irrelevent prejudice. There's none so blind as will not see. You are dead right there. Given that your knowledge of Waardenburgs is sketchy to say the least, and you don't seem to have much of a grasp of genetics, all I can say to you is this: Jog on mate. But thanks for keeping it polite, that's an improvement at least.
  4. Do I need a visa to visit your planet, 'Lee'?
  5. I'm well aware that's your opinion. One which you're perfectly entitled to. So once again you come out with a statement that you cant back up Y.I.S Leeview What? The statement that you're entitled to your opinion, 'Lee'?
  6. I'm well aware that's your opinion. One which you're perfectly entitled to.
  7. Life's too short 'Lee'. And I'm sure that's what your last post on Flaming was, but the damage was done earlier. Waardenburgs is a 'syndrome', ie a set of symptoms any of which point to a known neurodevelopmental problem. Not all of the symptoms need to be there to 'prove' the syndrome. But I'm sure you knew that already. Clearly your comparing a genetic problem to a viral disease was just in jest. No pics of the ferret. I'm not that sad. I know what my ferrets look like, I don't need to take pics of them all. Anyway I'm crap at posting pics up. Lets get one thing straight here, '
  8. Let's have a bit of a history lesson here. The main reason Leeview has a thing about whether Waardenburgs exists in this country is that about 2 years ago there was a very long and bitter debate on Flaming Ferret regarding the breeding of Waardenburgs ferrets by the Show fraternity. Leeview (in an alter ego) dived in with both feet and made a complete spanner of himself. He hates the person who started the debate, and anyone who supported him (like me boo hoo) And yes, I have a Waardenburgs marked ferret. She's asleep in the ferret room at the mo. Silver mitt jill. Not deaf, as far
  9. I've camped at Trearddur Bay, when I was climbing at Gogarth. Smashing part of the world, but it was a 3 day camel hike to the pub....
  10. Because, Mal, according to Leeview Wardenburgs is either a ) contagious, or b ) doesn't exist in ferrets.
  11. £40 for emergency out of hours at my local vet. You have to get to them, but in hours they'll come to you for £15. £103 is a piistake.
  12. This sounds like another very good reason for sorting out homes for the kits BEFORE they are bred.
  13. That'll be a vascectomised hob not a neutered one, Mr Jones?
  14. My Rocket bolted too.... Parsnips are a bit slow (but that's parsnips for you) but my chervil is doing nicely, the garlic's already been harvested, carrots are doing OK and broad beans are going bonkers. Beetroot's looking good too.
  15. Ah right If he dose go to nip you id give him a gentle flick on the nose. Don't. That's an 'Old Bob' trick that'll just as likely make him worse. If he's not castrated, get him done. That'll calm him down.
  16. A 5lb chub's a good fish. Try a maggot feeder. Get the feeder as close to overhanging banks or vegetation as you can. Size 16 or 18 hook, 30cm hooklength.
  17. Is it just me, or is stuff growing really well in the allottment this season?
  18. Worth remembering that lead is a cumulative poison: it remains in the body a long time, and lots of little doses have the same effect (eventually) as one big dose.
  19. Pakefield Beach in Lowestoft was always mentioned years ago when I last went sea fishing. Always a chance of a palaeolithic hand axe there too.....
  20. I'm getting confused now. This thread's been ranting on about foreigners coming over and pinching our jobs. But the sort of people you describe are more often than not the locals...... I tend to agree with you though. The sooner people have to put some effort in to get the dole, the quicker they might get off their arses and find a job. Make 'em work for it.
  21. Mushroom. 'They' can't be both 'dole dossing scum' and 'undercutters' (ie working) at the same time. This is the problem whenever there's a discussion like this: people stereotype. Now I know we all do it, often in the lighthearted way you refer to later in your post- thick Irish, tight Scots, sheep-shagging Welsh, arrogant English. But it gets a bit more important when people take it seriously and use it against easily identifiable minorities. Treat people as individuals. If there's troublemakers lets sort them, whether they're locals or immigrants. The problem isn't the immigran
  22. Tamworth, 'cosey country hamlet'? Are you mad? Two fookin big council estates either side of us (complete with Barmy Armies). There's just as many people put up with home brewed troublemakers. Where are you going to send them? (I could make a suggestion, but Gruinard Island would soon get very full)
  23. Good rods mate. I have the Barbel version too, excellent for the Method on carp puddles. These rods are really 4 rods in one, as you can fish them at 11' or 13'.
  24. That sums it up for me, too. Tellingly, the people charged for harassing the Romanians in NI were all teenagers. Maybe the adults had sussed it?
