  11. my old man rigged up an air horn of a lorry so as soon as the door was opened an inch a connection was made and feck me it was loud, and as for getting into s..t for clobbering them ,you cant if they cant talk, its amazing what you can do with a pair of pliers.
  12. get yer finger out first though lol
  13. i always handle before and after feeding, pick them up and take them to there meat and after mine always have 5 mins of play with each outher so i just stick my hand in amongst the lot like another ferret,i get lots of play biting like this but i think it teaches them to trust your hand more,i also make a point of giving each kit some 1 on 1,most of them will fall asleep in the palm of my hand, there six weeks old now and i hardly get a nip ,apart from playtime that is
  14. thanks for the replies and advice, will cut down the food a bit,i have noticed it is only 3 of the largest boys that are having problems getting about, dragging or shuffling there back legs so i asked a friend to take a look he thinks they may have a deficiency of some sort so there not developing properly he advised that i should give them something called lactol as a supplement what do you think.
  15. not seen one this year .seeing less and less as the seasons go by immunity kicking in i think
  16. i knew either stubby or kay would come to the rescue lol i feed 1 fresh rabbit to 9 kits every evening and leave it with them over night and they strip it they also get about 1/2 kilo of pet mince in the morning and clear that as well .i dont put dry in for them yet and they are also drinking from the bottle now fat little feckers lol
  17. is it possible for kits to get too fat, mine are 6 weeks old and proper little barrels, but they are having trouble getting there arse end of the ground,i am sure there back legs are fine at 4 1/2 weeks they were quite normal and mobile .is it a case of as they grow they get stronger or could i have trouble ahead or could it be they are just too heavy at the moment.
  18. nice lookin dogs mate love those broken coated types, that rabbit layed at your feet looks really dark in colour compared to the outhers, looks like a couple of hours well spent
  19. my old man always said to wait until weve had a couple of frosts but with the climate the way it is now its hard to say,i tend to keep an eye on the ammount of young getting about as soon as there numbers drop and theres only adult or semi adult rabbits i will start, good luck for the coming season all
  20. went to see the old boy who works on a new bit of permission i got, there he was in the shed servicing the combine, not long now he said hope your dogs are fit youve just got another 350 acres to follow me round, turns out the boss has hired him and the combine out for the harvest and me along with them and to add to that it brings permission all through the winter dogs and ferreting, what a result cant wait.
