  1. I think you'll find it was young inside thats been aborted due to the cold snap, the rabbits reabsorb the goodness in the unborn young rather than abort it out of the body. yis smoggy
  2. In my statement I told them that I will nearly always catch rabbits when I walk the dogs out this particular place, which i true. I keep the knife in the back of the van and carry them back and paunch them back at the van after. I know what you mean mate, saying the wrong word and the F***in jobs worths will do you. I could have said that I had just found it near my van and picked it up and said " thank f**k you lot are here, LOOK AT WHAT I'VE JUST FOUND!" You could be on dodgey ground mate, If you haven't got permission on that land, your comments could be taken to mean you were equip
  3. Just read the original post, am i right in thinking you were just walking your dogs and not hunting at all, cos if you weren't hunting or going hunting in the eyes of the law you had no reason to be carrying a knife, so to them you are a person in a public place tooled up with a 4inch fixed blade, and you'll get done for it. I'm not saying this is right, far from it, but that is how the police will look at it. yis smoggy
  4. I thought this was you watchman getting ready for a mooch , lol
  5. Just thought it would be interesting to find out peoples opinion on the colour white when lamping.
  6. Good luck for tomorrow, Hope everything goes ok Y.I.S Smoggy
  7. Theres alway been different strains of mixy, and as labsandlurchers said some kill quickly, some take longer, rabbits are certinly recovering from some types of strain where they didn't before. But the rabbit is the great survior, and the one thing we've noticed as soon as mixy makes an appearance round us the rabbits stop using the burrows, making it hard for mixy to spread. Although we have mixy come round at least twice a year it never takes more than 20-30%, still leaving more than plenty behind regards smoggy

  10. Nightmare cocker, but to be honest i've only had good experiences with north yorkshire police, although its stokesley coppers not thirsk, I alway have a bit of crack with them and then continue on, Yarm fairs on at the moment and police have been increase in the area, due to all the travellers, it could just be that their from a different police force just covering. Hope it all gets sorted smoggy
  11. Picture the scene; Dark December'96 night wind howling in their faces, forestry at their backs the rabbits feeding well out 2 lads set of lamping these pastures, they've known about this situation for a long time just waiting for the conditions to be in there favour, the colliex's were picking the rabbits up and retrieving them live to hand, many of them were squatting out in the field as there refuge was "blocked by these 2 lampers" with their backs to the forestry, the bitches were not flying out they just made there way down the side of the beam and onto these squatters from their squat som
  12. well said lee, to many people THINK about it , rather than getting out and doing it. i had 40 the other night, in two hours, ok there were two dogs , but Tara could have done them all on her own in the same time. also had 45 with Tara in 2 1/2 hours. had with two dogs 3 1/2 hours. how many times on land that is thik with rabbits , have you put a dozen in the bag in 5 or 6 mins. ile be honest ive done that many many times , and if you havent, WEL get out more Well said tomo, but what gets me is that now a days people do 2-3 hours lamping and think they've done a nights
  13. There was one got by the keepers round here a few months back. I believe it's now stuffed and mounted?
  14. Smoogy, all the locational data has been removed, there's no chance you could find that location in 5 mins mate, I think all is well :-) Nice one Moo, looks a nice bit of land mate. I found it in less then 5 mins, try it use google earth, move the map so north is in the same position, theres only one coast that matches (east coast) and we know it's in scotland, keep the eye line about 2.50 as in moo's post and travel up the coast in less then 5mins you'll have the location, with road views and everything, regards smoggy
  15. 5 and 7 so they would have 6 each or 4 and 8 regards smoggy
  16. I don't want to be negative, but is it a good idea to put up the location in map form, cause you can trace the location in 5 mins on google maps, and it may bring some unwanted attention for the final. best regards smoggy
  17. But they're saying colour doesn't matter? So why don't we wear white to go lamping? regards smoggy
  18. So would you boys wear white clothes to go lamping, p.s note i'm not saying white dogs are no good, just asking a question regards smoggy
  19. Why would any farmer phone some one to move a dead fox hanging on a fence
  20. I think people get confused with the colour issue, people aren't saying white dogs are no good at working, its the fact that they're white. If your mate turned up to go lamping in white trousers, you soon be sending him home to get change, lol A white dog walking to heel round the edge of a field with the lamp off will stick out a mile. And in a area where rabbit have wised up to lampers they will be off in a shot, before you get anywhere close. atb smoggy
  21. For me, RABBIT = Whippet HARE = Saluki FOX = Greyhound DEER = Deerhound COYOTE = Borzio WOLF = Irish wolfhound
  22. Right, if you could choose any pure breed type dog, from around the world. Which would you pick to do a job on the following quarry RABBIT HARE FOX DEER COYOTE WOLF P.S I don't mean the kc type dog but the old fashioned dogs that were breed to do a job, not run round a show ring. regards smoggy
  23. PM Ianb, he will sort u out i'm sure
  24. Haven't watched the video (computer is crap), but i can guess what it shows, although i dont agree with it you have to remember its done by "peta" look at the videos they've done on hunting etc, the fur industry is the same as hunting its only takes one bad apple to get every one tarred with the same brush. regards smoggy
