The Irish government has been slaughtering 10s of 1000s of badgers this years. Snares set and checked every few days.

So I presume that wire would kill a child ?
-
Very true,
-
I was thinking that too Dogger but the fact he's putting a Lakeland across his Russell maybe he's not thinking of a line, just a litter of good workers. You'll see if the pups are undershot at a few weeks but if you think that dog is the one for your bitch then go for it.

its just a stand around bud,but for these kennel club stuff i dont think they wanna see a dog stripped down. Then I must apoligise but in this day and age I would be stateing that the show in question is a conformation show. Otherwise you could be drawing attention to yourself for the wrong reasons, remember a lot of innocent dogs have been killed by the so called experts. Also it's great to see a show dog being kept in peak condition. It's not done often enough IMO. Again I apoligise.

A good greyhound suppliers should have pad hardener.

I've seen the damage to sheep before but cannibalism is new to me. The larson is quiet spacious so I reckon the newly captured bird must have nailed the decoy bird through the wire and worried it to death by holding on. I know it wasn't rats as the dog food fed to the bird was untouched. I've seen rats eat through a foxes anus before and feed in the body cavity. Pity as I had that bird 6 months and had taken a lot of pests with him. The bird that killed him is going to a friend tomorrow who's looseing young chickens to magpies. He's says a couple swoop down attacking the hen and scatterin

LMAO....tell us where is this show? Can we all come?
-
Unbelievable....LMFAO.
-
A friend was loseing eggs to magpies so I gave him a larson. He caught 14 and a grey crow in 10 days when I mentioned to him to keep me a magpie for another larson trap. He rang me 10 o clock last night and said there was 2 in the trap. I went out this morning to kill one and take the other. The decoy bird was dead, pulled over to one side of the trap to one of the catching areas. The bird had a hole made between the anus and leg and a lot of the innards were eaten. Mesh is 1'' . Anyone ever see this.

Good advice your being given here and hopefully you'll listen. The combination of a terrier keen to go to ground but wont mark rabbits is often a sign of a well bred terrier that will go on to work well. If you yourself are the type of person who's impatient then don't bring your youngster on a dig 'till you think he's ready. If your patient then bring him out and get him used to being tethered, the terrier box and all the other excitement of a dig. Wind him up a few times and when you see your pup changing into an adult.....let him go. And don't be upset if he doesn't do well first time. G

In some countrys they use cages to "train" their hunting dogs and thats why the best workers and dogmen in the world are over this side. Whats more worrying is a few videos after that one is "rothweiller fights pitbull in Ireland". It's two dogs playing !!!!!!!

Say to your mates in a pub...."you's must be alcoholics, every time I see you's your in here". Hangover......."I'm as sick as a small hospital".
-
Good advice. At eleven months your pup is a baby. If it's keen to go below means from now on you must know where your exercising your pup like the back of your hand or you'll have an accident. Terriers that enter quick can often stop quick too. Downsouth is right. Why would you want to go for a dig at this time of year? Keepers and farmers must be helped no doubt but only a fool digs for sport at this time of year. Maybe the Winters to cold for a lot of the cowboys.

aprentice butcher fish monger....
Neil Cooney. replied to kreet's topic in Living Off The Land & Game Cooking
I'm a butcher by trade but haven't butchered in a few years (money's better in the construction industry, although that's in trouble now) and the only butchering I do now is venison for friends. When you walk in to a butchers shop you should see a friendly, clean cut face of neat apperance. In reality it's hard work. The customers always right is a saying you'll grow to hate and on a warm Summers day running from a hot sweaty shop in to a cold fridge and out again will give you the flu for sure. Plus cuts, bone splinters and meat under your finger nails. But if you like meeting people and -

And the local magpie population probably kill the one they released. -

"and no shot gun is out the question". Your words not mine. -
It's a pity the way it's gone with the humble ferret. Here in Ireland where there's not a single ferret show and I personally have never heard of a pet ferret the arguement among ferreters is good working lines versus not so good working lines. Silver backs???? I thought they were a type of Gorrilla.
-
Very nice. Tell us a bit about them please. There's a very good line here going back to an English line that throws a white chest and foot like the terrier in the picture.
-
Bryans no anti. Well said Bryan. Pictures of wounds, drawing and terriers at the end of a dig are enjoyed by 2 types of people. Antis and fella's who think they're terriermen but don't get to see much of it. I've always said it. Leave the cam-corders and video phones at home and take your pictures with care. A close up of a terriers wounds or a lurchers arse sticking out of a hole is a sign of someone who's not digging to long and wants to feel wanted by other messers. Think about it. A video of a man digging then lifting his terrier. Shooting and then burying the fox. No television or ne

20 years of fit ,healthy dogs is good enough for me.

Whippeter you might be young but you talk a lot more sence than a lot of the "romantic" experts on here. Well said, anyone who's taking and not giving in this day and age is a disgrace. Not JMHO fact. -
As far as I know in some States ferrets fall under the dangerous animal acts and in some States it's illlegal to work a ferret (land of the free ???). So as ferrets are considered exotic hence the high prices. Might make some of you's value your ferrets more.

It's an Irish Wolfhound, anyone remember the hen and chickens, the woodcock, the salmon, the stag and the bull. Now we're just reminded we're not Irish, we're European.
