    if the shot had your neighbours out,and it frightened your dog then that tells me it was close and it was probably a poacher(maybe the guy with the quad?) when a farmer/landowner turns people away,then a percentage of idiots will go back after dark anyway gunshot noise does travel miles on the right night tho,but it wouldnt scare your dog if it travelled 3 or more miles would it?

    i shoot foxe's all year round on my shoot's because of the obvious. but putting myself in the shoe's of a man who wont at this time of the year who is asked to deal with foxe's,i would not do it,simply because if you've got certain moral's you should stick to them,if you dont then you are a very week person to go against something you believe is right. iv'e no problem dealing with them at this time of the year,and i never do something that i dont agree with. it is a difficult decision,but only if you want it to be,stick to your gun's

    that's a bold statement,iv'e seen some bloody excellent patterdale's from a breeder whose name i wont reveal,patterdles are brilliant terriers anyway. im sure there is good patterdales in ireland as there is in england,scotland or wales,but i think we agree that patt's are top terriers

    ive tried this a few times and once it worked,i find using my home made rabbit distress fox caller brings em in,iv'e shot a few using that

    if the shot's frightened your dog then i would say they were very close,i hear gunshots most nights when im not out and can usually tell where the shots are coming from,bearing in mind it always sounds louder at night,maybe the guy on the quad is the culprit

    loads of buzzards here in devon,i often see pairs of them circling in the sky looking down for there next meal,my favourite bird of prey,such gracious birds a fair few sparrow hawks and perrigrine falcons too,i can sit and watch them for hours

    it could be that it was out looking for food to feed the young,ive seen them during the day before digging for bluebell bulbs,im seeing ridiculous numbers of fox during different times of the day for the same reason,looking for food for there young

    iv'e got work on for the next 2 months after having sod all for 4 weeks,it is dire,a couple of companys have gone bust and it is immigration that's doing it,cheap labour,i'd like to see the unemployment figures. if i had plenty of money i'd f**k off to australia to live,this country's f****d. and im f****d if i'd vote for b.n.p bunch of racist nazis,i aint racist but im against immigration what's it going to be like in 10-20 years time?makes me wonder what iv'e brought kid's into

    i only bath my dog when he stinks which aint very often,it's bad for their skin if you bath them every week(if you use shampoo)my dog lives in the house and hair always falling out,just gotta put up with it. iv'e always got the vacuum out to keep on top of it margarine in their food?interesting but that cant be good for them,can it?

    i'd of thought that a mink would have a bankside burrow as would an otter,i've come across mink burrows before whilst fishing and they do have a muddy fishy sort of smell,that print you found is small enough to be a mink print which you say is similar to a pine marten. i know very little about the pine marten but your hunch on it being so is the more likely in my oppinion. it's an excellent find and tell's me you like to explore as i do,always looking for new burrows/prints and run's,sign's of feeding etc what about setting a trap and release it if it is a marten? or keep an early morning

    i had the same gun bought for me when i was fifteen by my grandad,and funnily enough he paid 90 quid for it! i remember it had bit of a kick on it,but it was my first shotgun and i havent seen many since,possibly a rare gun

    i saw that on the news earlier today,its ridiculous,yes we have enough strays as it is without sri lankan dogs with rabies being imported,WHY? what good can it do,none whatsoever

    i'd have to agree...wouldn't get one for hunting....but they are crackers absolutely,they are cracking dogs but i find they are prone to problems,hips/backs,my first one had a tumour and died aged 7,my second and best one got diagnosed with leukaemia and i had no choice but to have him put down rather than let him suffer with injections to keep him going(one piece of advice from a shit vet with shit for brains)he was only 17 months. heartbreaking,great dogs but get a dog bred for the purpose
