  1. hi im looking for a good quality shooting jacket for stalking. Must be 100% waterproof. I have a mad dog growler jacket and it is pants! got caught in a down pour and was soaked through! What do you use and any recomendations will be appriciated. Mo
  2. ye maybe.. sounds like this is what he could mean...
  3. my FEO told me 6.5x55 is not suitable for fox.. i cant shoot a fox with it normaly but if i see one on my stalking ground i can shoot it?? sounds a bit odd.. surly if it is not suitable i shouldnt be able to shoot one anywere.. also on my certificate is says 6.5x55 for deer stalking and fox control... whats your opinion on this? all the best Mo.
  4. i might well be wrong about the hare Dying after being chaised ok i will accept it. it was however an opinion.. but can a coursed hare really be in better conditon than a well shot one? i do agree on that coursing is a good way for natural selection as the week/ill hares will be taken out and the healthy/fit ones will live.. this would not be achived with shooting..
  5. How the f**k have you managed to make 145 posts on these forums????? Bad enough the anti's spewing out lies about the hunting of quarry with dogs but for someone to come on here as a fieldsports person and add to the lies from within is terrible. You should educate yourself a bit about fieldsports before commenting. Your ignorance is amazing. how have i made 145 posts? what you on about mate? I think you missed my point completely.. again i will reiterate for you if your a bit slow... IN.. MY...OPINION it would be better to shoot a hare with a well placed shot with minimal stress etc.
  6. hares should be respected like any other game/quary. IMO it is better to shoot them than sending a dog after them to chaise it and pump adrenalin through its body can you imagin the fear that it would be going through?, even if it gets away it will prob die of shock or a heart atack or somthing. Much better to be a one shot kill.. no pain, the quary is relaxed and would not even hear the bang. this is just my opinion.
  7. hi, i have a tikka t3 hunter in 6.5x55. can anyone recomend a good sound mod and the going price for one... anything i should avoid or look out for? thanks, Mo
  8. so is there any point doing level 1 +2? or shall i wait untill the outcome has been decided?
  9. how about using a flame from a blow torch but close the air valve so its a yellow flame.... could just singe them off.
  10. i have known several disintergrate while being used on a centre fire rifle , they seem more trouble than what they are worth and you still have the sonic boom anyway ,no doubt someone will have a different oppinion ,for stalking you only usually get one shot so i do not bother about the noise factor . i think they are a pile of shite on a big rifle hmm similar to what i was thinking, i think they come into use with 22rim fires for lamping etc because of noise reduction but as you say wilst stalking it is only one shot.. the only other benifit i can think of would be a slight decrease i
  11. hi all. is there any main advantage to having a sound mod whilst stalking? is it just used to protect your own hearing e.g stalk without ear defenders to hear whats going on...
  12. no not from cheshire gun room.. it was from melbourn guns and tackle. I have decided to get a new s&b buy once and cry once i think melbourn guns and tacke were selling a variable mag one (cant remember which one) for £200 mark. not bad for the money if they are good quality glass. I may get one for the 17hmr when i put in for a variation...
  13. so they are going to force us to take a test set by them and then prob charge us the earth to take it and also have an anual fee to be on this regester! what is the next step we need to act fast.. do you all think a meeting will do any good if we invite basc and similar bodies. I think Jamie Hmmond should be invited and should answer all our questions... anyother sugestions????
  14. thats ridiculous, it souds like its just another mony making scheme! i mean fair enough it is good to controle who can shoot a deer but surely dmq1&2 should be enough! we all need to get together on this one and make a stand! whats the next step then? what can we do to stop this?
  15. hi mate, best thing to do is check the area that you hunt over, is there signs of deer activity? e.g foot prints etc. IF there is then you can start to stalk your quary. a good time to see deer is at dusk and dawn. go out with friend just to get a bit more experience that way when you go out on your own you know what to look for and will be more successful.
  16. hi just wondering if anyone has a vortex viper scope? and if so, what are they like? i need a scope to go on my 6.5x55. a called a gunsmith up asked what he had got and me mentioned the above scope and said they are very good? just checking to see what everyone else thinks. all the best, Mo
