  1. hi mate. ye he did actualy take the folow up shot.. to be honist on the range he was quite good... he was just a bit low on his first shot.. anyway the main thig is he dispatched it quickly with the second shot.. all the best.
  2. Ps. the venison marsala he made was AMAZING. Its worth trying. Mo
  3. Yes lol, a young Muslim lad shot it, and then cut it to make it halal. Very interesting really. I'll try the venison reciepe myself as it looked lovely. hi mate. It was me and my stalking mentor Jim who took Gordon out. What happend was he hit the buck in the Knee and had to follow up with a second shot. I just showed how i would make the meat "halal" All in all was a good experience meeting Gordon and finding him a buck. All the best. Mo
  4. lol i take it you watched me on the f word tonight?
  5. Personally, there is nothing wrong with the Remmingtons (I have a 700 Tactical in 22.250 but much modified). Having said that all rifles are a bit like cars - two people can buy a Ford Focus, one has no problems the other nothing but problems. Given the choice in your situation I would look more seriously at the Sako - generally a better build. Why on earth are you changing from 6.5 to 270? The 6.5 is only about 1.5" lower at 200 yards and a much sweeter calibre to shoot. I tried the 270 then the 6.5 - still with the 6.5 i am happy with the 6.5 but i think you only gain the most out of
  6. shot 5 roe a muntjac and a falow last week. In hampshire all in one day!

  7. hi all. I have just sent of for my variation for a .270 (currently have a 6.5x55) and have seen a very nice remington 700 in laminated stock with a moderator and a cheap scope i will be replacing if i bought the rifle. The guy wants £700 for the lot. My question is how do you find the remingtons with regards to accuracy etc. Also how will these compair to a sako 75 which i have also found for about the same price but with out a mod. Any advice will be much appriciated. Thanks Mo
  8. thanks mate. it was indeed. It would have been even better if i hadnt have missed the big buck!
  9. My mate Mark Gilchrist from the sporting shooting mag invited me down to his permison to do a bit of Fallow stalking. On the way down i met up with another mate to chance a munty... i got mark up to come along as this would be our first muntac.. result.. less than 2 hours and 2 munjac in the bag. So after that we drove down to kent and got an early night... up bright and early next morning ariving at his grounds just after 6am... stalked a couple of fields but didnt see anything.. then about 150 yards away we saw a group of 5-6 fallow running accross the field... "quick get on your sticks" mar
  10. Without going off topic too much, just wondering how many Stags you have shot? and if you have shot any with a .243 and if you have shot any with a .308 ? I'd not recommend shooting the big boys with the .243" you are simply just under gunned IMHO, yes if you hit the spot you'll kill the beast but compare the results with that of a .308 and believe me, you'll not bother with the .243. It amazes me how many people are hung up on the .243" as if they haven't got anything better to use, the .243" is just deer legal and most have a twist rate not suited to heavier bullets as in reality the .2
  11. you always have to start somthing off
  12. little meat damage with a 243? i have seen a few roe shot with 243 and the meat damage was very bad... if i was faced with a 20stone red stag and only had a 243 i would feel slighly uneasy... main reason i wanted a 270 was because of the flat trajectory..
  13. Nope, but a chap I used to stalk with had one. Meat damage isn't that bad and the calibre used to be very much in vogue. Not that inherently accurate (IMO). IMHO there is better out there for your money. John what else would you recomend.. eg flat trajectory and good knock down power..
  14. I struggle to see there will be anything much between them accuracy wise. What Calibre and what do you want to do with them? Neither would be my choice, but if pushed the Sako, but it gets personal and they are just not what I want, everyone selects a gun for a different reason, I doubt you will go wrong with either! Hope it works out for you! thanks Deeker for the input. Will mostly be used for stalking and in .270win
  15. hi all, Just looking for a bit of advice . I have the choice of the above two. Money aside.. which one shall i go for? which one is the most accurate? Thanks, Mo.
  16. hi. does anyone use a .270 for deer stalking. Is there alot of meat damage with this caliber? Im thinking of geting one. thanks. Mo
  17. i am prity sure that the syndicate in question is shooting.sh.... i havnt had any dealings with it but there has been some negativ feed back
  18. im thinking of puting in for a variation. What do you think of the two above?
  19. can one of the mods remove this as its causing more trouble than what its worth. Mo
  20. sorry date has changed to 28th november.
  21. Just reminding folk what the origonal post was about . The guy is dead chuffed to be out with the rifle ,and rightly so ! It doesnt matter if he was wearing dayglow orange or sky blue pink !!! As long as he is happy with it ,and has some success who,s to say its wrong .? The thread now has sod all to do with it and should be split by the mods and let the bitchy stuff carry on some other place . Good luck with your stalking MUBZ2COOL . Well said mate! the whole point of the post was for people to put a face to my nam on here (even though iv got my bins up) and just
