  1. the guy i go stalking with charges £65 for the day then if i want to take the deer home its another £60. this is for an evening stalk. If i was going for the full day he charges £130 and that inmcludes the deer to take home
  2. cost wise may be expensive initially but once you have the main gear you are prity much sorted for as long as you stalk deer. Firstly you would need a rifle... this can cost any amount it all depends on what your looking for and your personal preference. For arguments sake lets say you went for a Tikka T3 synthetic stock in .243/6.5x55, new it would cost aproxamatly £600-£700, then you will need a GOOD quality scope and mounts, a hungarian schmidt and bender 8x56 fixed power would cost around £475 +£100 for good mounts or so.. moderators can cost around £200 (this is if you have put down
  3. you cant say that with out actualy seeing the ground, it may well be suitable but only to shoot in certain directions... what do you mean icant say that ive said it the lad is 14 years old with no fac ill say it again the chances of a first grant are slim the only reaoson why i said that is because it sounded like you were saying he wont get an fac the basis of the ground being 180 acres...
  4. hi mate. i would go for the 6.5x55 for a stalking rifle. It has good penatration and will take down any deer in the uk. very flat and reasonably fast. if you have anymore questions just ask

  6. hi mate, i have herd alot of people i know advising to stay away from the 270 as it can be a beast of a round when it comes to recoil (some may like it though but its down to personal preference. i would advise either the .243 as this will take down anything with the correct shot placment and bullet weight, i would also highly reccomend the 6.5x55, i have shot this reccently and cant fault it. My advice is to try a few and see what works for you.

  8. Booked a couple of weeks ago was a walked up day in Uttoxeter Stafford, myself and some other members of the pigeon watch forum got to gether and took advantage of the £75 walked up day. Woke up bright and early and met the other lads. The keeper Mick then followed and announced it was going to be a driven day insted! geat stuff!! the day was absolutely great! had a realy good time meeting Mick and all who helped put the day on. Total bag number was 59 which by anyones standards was great as it was the last day of the season and all for only £75 per gun! This is a definite re book for the co

  15. Hi all, just wanted to know what your oppinions was on the following.... i have just gained permiton to shoot pigeons over a Wheat/corn farm in warrington. The farmer is a nice bloke and if you are polite he normaly lets you on to shoot. there are about 6/7 other guys that come to shoot on the same bit of land aswell, some of them have had it for 10/20 years... anyway whilst i was out i was approched by a nabouring land owner, he came to introduce himself and to make sure i was not crossing any boundrys onto his patch. He mentioned a guy who shoots on the land i have permition over and was
  16. ohhh i see. Thanks for the info. By the way did u have any very good days whist you were a member?
  17. Well if i am wrong then i stand corrected but as i say i have never heard of that complaint before. As in this case there seems to be around the 3500 number released and i would find it hard to believe that a pheasant would ruin a crop when there would be easy pickings in feed bins around the shooting estate. at the end of the day, who cares, im there to shoot pigeons but if a pheasant gets up i'v got the go a head. regards, mo
  18. Why dont you just stick to the pigeons and leave the pheasants/pats' alone? Falling out with the neighbouring shoot on new permission sounds a bit f***ing stupid to me. Dont be greedy dont see how it sounds "f***ing stupid" as the pheasant/partridge are eating the weat/corn AND the farmer specifically said i can and should shoot them if i get the chance. personally i would never do anything to jepradise my shooting permition. thasnks for your concern. 1st time i have heard of pheasants needing shot because the damage they are doing to crops. Lets face it you have the chance to shoot
  19. definitely! i agree 100%. Im there to shoot pigeons but if a pheasant gets up then thats just a bonus on the day.

  21. hi all. I just got some new permtion yesterday on a wheat farm, when down today to have a mooch and there was 100s of pigeons all flying about, didnt bring any decoys or hide netting but still managed to get 4 in a hour just as they were flying by, it was very windy so i think thats what was keeping them mooving. there is also a shoot on the other side of the land so quite a few phesant and partridge were knocking about! (farmer said i can shoot them) im quite chuffed! regards mo.
  22. hmmm interesting.... thanks tho for the input! mo.
