I have two twin polecat jills, my mother just calls them "the two omego's" I have a Sandy hob, gets fat in the summer he is known as "fatty" (again, mothers name) I have a polecat hob with a big head, and scratches the box known as "bob - the box scratcher", by my girlfriend, or shortend down to just "bob" I have a poley jill, who also scratches the box, and she fights with other ferrets she is known as betty by the girlfriend, and "scrapper" by my dad Finally the albino jill that my mother loves. she will bolt rabbits, but will not come out the hole, shes had enough chances but mother

I used to be under the impression that if you didnt feed them before working, then they would work better. personally i think its BULLSHIT. I feed the ferrets every day and they work well the next morning, after all its the ferrets instinct to hunt. I also find it easier to put the collars on them if they arent hungry as when they are they will tend to wriggle about a lot..... just what i have found out.....

You cant see it in the picture, but to the right there is a dry stone wall. The first time me and my mate walked it, he said he pushed about 20 rabbit through. I longnetted it on my own one morning and i pushed about 10 out, only 3 got in the net though, with the ground being so rough, at points the line wasnt on the ground so i watched the rabbits go straight under it. I didnt bother doing the longnetting yesterday as the cover has died and i reckon the rabbits will be underground with the weather being a bit colder. I walked through it any way though to give the dog a run, and h

Was out this morning. I netted up a set, about 24 holes and put poley jill and hob in. I bolted one down the far end of the mound and as i was dealing with him, another bolted with a ferrets mouth on its arse. I got another from this set. I walked down near a beck and seen a rabbit enter a set, i netted up, about 14 holes and i bolted two with both ferrets. I then walked onto the moorland and the dog chased a couple of rabbits into a set that is in a small woodland (just growing woodland) I netted up about 30 holes, i have caught 4 or 5 out this set before. There is a few holes

some of us are slow learners, i know many a man who has tried snaring and given it up, i think i deserve a bit of credit for sticking at it. I have caught a few rabbits in snares hear and there, the most i had in morning was 2, and thats with about 30 snares out, at least im honest. I know im shit at it, but.............. Oh, and its more like 3-4 years now woodga, lol.

aye, he is a rip off. And good on glen for coming up with the idea, originally. A quote from his website "once his mentor died it was increasinly difficult to find a reliablke partner to go with him on cold wet windy moonless nights so after some serious trial and error he developed the Quickset Longnetting System" yeah. after he learned about the quickset longnetting system, lol.

Jesus, i just seen how much brinded charges for drop nets, its £224 for the stuff to drop 2x50yard nets, EXCLUDING the nets. i see a buisness oppurtunity

Heres another bit i just wrote to add to it Pre-Set Longnets There are two ways of pre-setting a longnet, these are used in situations where it isn’t possible to approach your drop without disturbance, also useful for those fields near to city lights, floodlights of nearby houses, farms, etc. The most common form of a preset net is a drop net, the longnet is held about 4 feet above the ground. My own method (yet to be tried) to do this is lengths of 20mm galvanized electrical piping(conduit) (about 7 foot lengths) at intervals of about 6 yards. The longnet itself is set onto 25mm g

Im in the process of doing one myself, but most my ferreting is on my own, so as you would imagine, dont get much action on the camcorder, just a bit of blue language from myself. Whenever you stop recording, something happens!!!!!

What type of pegs? I think i was just using round tent pegs at the time, you you say use a square peg, as in what you use in snares, to top it swivelling in the ground?

I had 14 out on saturday morning, returned sunday morning, i had 2 or three knocked wires, and had caught one, but Mr. Fox had kindly eat the rabbits body. Also, i had one wire missing, ( i used a marker pin for every snare, so i know that its missing and not just that i cant see it) So perhaps Mr Fox, or Mr Billy had taken the rabbit and the full snare. Also, Mr. Peg what would you say a good height for setting in woodland is, i have a woodland around someones garden he would like cleared, i set 6 fenn traps ages ago, and caught nothing (a fenn had been taken-again, i used marking pin

I wrote this ages ago and never got round to finishing it, havent read through it, so it could be a bit amateur, what you think????? Longnetting Stage 1 ; getting started Obviously to start longnetting, you need a longnet or two. There are two types of longnet on the market, firstly there is the ‘traditional’ longnet and there is the ‘quickset’ longnet. Traditional longnets is a length of netting onto two lines, the head line and the foot line. If your lines were 75 yards long, you would want to put at least 150 yards of net onto it, thus giving enough ‘bagging’ â€

maty j, how you get on with the longnet? Email me mate

If im looking about on land for the first time, i usually just walk around, me and the dog. See whats about. THen you can work out the best plan of attack, weather it be ferreting, snaring longnetting, shooting..... then you can do it on your return.

Just wondering how many snares you have ever dropped (as in dropped out your hands, and not set) in one go and have to pick the sods up one by flaming one, i just dropped 20 and it seems to take forever to pick them up and bundle them again.
-
So would you say keep my wires at 5.5 inch as iwas going to snare it tommorow, the knocked wires werent 'saucepan' as woodga would say (with the kink by the noose) just the noose was closed half way all smooth

Mammoth 2500 powder Its good stuff, a serving had 156g carbs, 60g protein, 1200 calories. Its good for packing on the mass, take it some after you have trained. slow, controlled reps, lift a weight that you can manage between 8-12 reps of. Used to be bang into it, just starting back, chest and arms mainly. CHEST 5 sets of cable pec flies 3 sets bench press 2 sets incline bench 3 sets of vertical pec dec TRICEPS 5 sets tricep pressdowns

Whats the most holes you have ever netted on one rabbit set, we netted 65 holes up the fells just north of dumfries, and only got 3 rabbits. The most i have had out of one set is ten in about an hour using 3 ferrets.

I'll learn it eventually mate, lol. Up until i was at last years lowther, i couldnt put tension in the wires very well lol
-
it was in grass mate, and im almost positive that they were 6" high, as i was using my trusty tape measure, lol. fair enough a few were just by eye, but most by the tape.
