  1. hope they see plenty of action, have to get you up on some of my ground
  2. If your new to snaring, the best advice you will get is to go on P&Gs snaring course or buy woodga's DVD
  3. Got a phone call from the owner of a small bit of woodland. The foxes are troubling the pheasant's I set off with some snares, i only set two as everything was overgrown and i couldnt see many runs. I set one on a fence and one open, secured to a tree. I also set some rabbit snares since i was up there anyway
  4. Like anything else, the best way is to be shown by someone who know's what they are doing. But if you cant afford then your next best bet is to speak to a snaring master or look back through this snaring section for some tips and advice
  5. FOr my pup, she is on BETA puppy. With Mackerel Fillets. I feed adult dogs on "greyhound Supa" Pasta, Veg and either Minced Rabbit or Mackerel. Builds them up a treat
  6. Blando, you have a reply. Please note that my net is not set up quickset style. If you are looking for a quickset net, forget Brinded, goto JB's Supplies (JAMES B from the site) everybody should have traditional longnets in their kit for poaching reasons  (cheaper to replace :11: )
  7. ferreting to longnet's can be fun, but again, horses for courses. If you have a big banking with 300+ holes in, then the best bet is to longnet the top, bottom and sides of the bank, then you want additional nets running top to bottom every so often as in big sets the bunnies seem to hole hop. Eventually they will flee but depending on the size of warren and amount of ferrets used, it can be a while. The best day i remember with the nets was on a hedgerow, longnets either side. I did two hedgrow's about 60 yards long each it was fun, especially because i was on my own, i must have bee
  8. The kits are usually fully weaned at 6 weeks old, so you should be fine moving her away especially if shes gettting hassled all the time
  9. its been said, you can never have too much equipment, be it purse nets, long nets, snares, traps, I'd rather go out and ferret a 50 holer with 100 nets in my bag, than a 100 holer with 50 nets in my bag
  10. That nets making me drool Mike, What length is it??? i'll swap you 3 stop nets for it
  11. Spun nylon everytime for me. I have forty two at the minute but once i get this bloody insurance claim sorted i will make getting another kilo of spun of JAMES B (TOP QUALITY STUFF) to make another 40 odd up Hemp is good but rots if not looked after properly. And if you have 200 or 300 nets it takes a lot of time. Just my opinion
  12. I have seen a white rabbit before. Weather it was an escapee pet, i dont know?
  13. """"yer need a feret and dats all realy but ya can use purse nets too""" Quoted from your site, under Ferreting. What about locater, spade, spare batteries, long nets, ferret box, etc.....??????
  14. The Big Fish is a dab hand with all this making stuff. check out his good attempt at the basket, much better than brinded's "two pronged attack" Longnet Basket
  15. someone worked it out on here for me before, but i'll tell you what i know DAM bull x greyhound SIRE collie x greyhound / whippet x greyhound the way i worked it was 3/6 greyhound 1/6 whippet 1/6 bull 1/6 collie but someone worked it out differently

  18. finally decided to get my lazy arse up and take some piccies. I forgot what its like to see them growing up, these are about 2 1/2 weeks old The parents were both polecats, you can see three of them going to come out fairly light. and one is quite dark. There is 3 jills & 1 hob
  19. Finally managed to get her to sit still for a bit while i take photo THis was easy, give her some milk and she just stands there. She looks a bit skinny on there but she tucks her belly in really tight when drinking the milk I hope to have many a happy journey into a field with her
  20. Copper, I believe is at an all time High, due to the mexico copper mine (largest in world) workers going on strike. Its also got a lot to do with china buying anything they can get there hands on. Start saving lads, bit of extra money at crimbo time the last time i weighed in SHEATHED COPPER CABLE i got £157 for 225 kilo's. which isnt bad considering its sheathed ANy old drums of cable with only a few meters left, it all adds up, a lot of lads at work tell me its not worth it, i even keep 6 inches of 2.5mm softcore cable. Well, im glad the scrap-man doesnt tell me its not
