  1. Good luck wit ze Germans Si, Must say its nice to move around and see different places, but also good to stay in one place for a while and settle yourself down. Good luck with what Germany brings and thanks for your contributions, sure they won't be the last SS
  2. Totally agree with you Sean. As I've always stated, self regulation is the only way Airgunning will survive. If we don't opt to do so, then the Government will do it and over react, look at the knee jerk reactions to Hungerford and Dunblane? A licensing system, more relaxed than an FAC would benefit Airgunners, as when you have been checked and are found to be entrusted with these tools, then I feel there will be less restriction on the power of airguns to those who hold a license.
  3. Happy Birthday Stubby! Have a good one pal. Penblwydd Hapus i ti :)
  4. Rather different in Swansea to Knighton
  5. Put simply, Yes. You do not need any justification to own a Shotgun Certificate, the Police only need to satisfy themselves that you are of good enough character to be entrusted with said weapon. If they refuse, they have to prove why they didn't grant one. They have to prove you cannot be entrusted. The FEO may ask you some questions at interview as to why you want to acquire one, but all you need to say is that you intend to take up Clay pigeon shooting, they do not even need that much reasoning, but it helps to smooth things. But apply and have some clay shooting in the meanti
  6. Its a nice little village Knighton, been there a number of times. Very literally on the border You'll be surrounded by nothing but countryside if you go 500 yards in either direction
  7. Oh well, wasn't much hope anyway Good luck with the move, it is a lovely place to live up there, you know which bit? Knighton, Presteigne, Hay on Wye, Montgomery etc.
  8. Thats the third time I've heard of it happening with the exact same gun. One of the keepers here had one in .410, he told me it had done it when he was out with it recently, so I loaded it and shut it in a safe direction and it went off, time and time again. Dodgy IMO.
  9. It should say whatever you applied for. i.e. .22 L/R etc With that vague wording I'm surprised any gunshop sold you a .22LR without checking first, bad practice that by the Licensing bods.
  10. As fireman says, there's no ignorance defense for driving offenses. Speak to the court, see if there is an appeals procedure against the fine and go from there. If you have six points in the first two years, its an automatic re-test anyway.
  11. Rather nasty that. Quoted in the text, the Doctor saying "Where do I begin?" is quite right, where would you begin
  12. For England and Wales, no Game license is required anymore. You still require one in Scotland, not sure about N.I. and ROI. The ban on shooting Woodcock doesn't affect England and Wales at present, but it will kick in shortly.
  13. A 32" choke on the end of a 32" barrel Your fingers doing you injustice SP?
  14. The grooves equate to the following; 1 = Full 2 = 3/4 3 = 1/2 4 = 1/4 5 = Cylinder/Skeet
  15. From what I know of people in the job, there are a few different types of PNC checks. You have your Personal record, which tells them what you are known to police for and you have a record for your vehicle but your vehicle record is not unique to you, it can be changed and is relevant to whoever is the keeper of the car at that time. If you have never come to light with Police before, then they won't find anything.
  16. Good stuff! Great just to head off for a few hours with the gun and a few Woodcock in the bag is a bargain. They look decent sized birds too. Good Shooting.
  17. Nice one IL, good to get them into it if they have an interest
  18. In all honesty, as I've said before, Cartridge choice comes down to what you are comfortable shooting and that you feel/know is suitable for the job. Your 32g No.6 will deal with pretty much anything that crops up on a rough shoot, it just depends whether you can hit them or not. Before the lead ban Ducks used to be shot at with whatever was in the gun, which in my case was always and still is 28g of 7s and they used to drop just the same. Personal choice of course. Woodcock and Snipe certainly don't need anything as big as Five's. If I were you, buy a few different weights in
  19. Perhaps reading a few rules wouldn't help either. Other than that, Welcome Aboard
  20. I think I can see where this is going... Thread Safely Locked.
  21. Regardless of what your job is or how much you have had to drink the night before or that night, do not drink and drive. I've lost two friends to drink drivers and I have no sympathy for them whatsoever. They walk away with their life, the other innocent driver has his life taken from him. I would love to see drink drivers given the same sentences as manslaughter, I hate them with a passion. If you suspect you are over the limit don't drive and if you are pulled over, then don't complain if you are not intoxicated, they are pulling people over to stop those who are from taking innoce
  22. I've just read Al they are going to show it as a tribute as he is featured in the school choir
  23. Its awful Al and so close to home. Thoughts are with his family.
