  1. . . . Longish story, but I will try to shorten it a bit! Lol Basically, This will go to show that it is imperative that A) you should always have your grant of permission forms on you, or to hand (or at least in your car), and you really need to know your permssion grounds as thoroughly as you can! I had two seperate occurences today (meetings with people on my shoot) - a local farmer (who puts his sheep to graze on part of the shoot as a favour to my landowner), and a senior member of the crematorium staff (who lives on-site). The farmer arrived in the field with his sheep, and s
  2. Top lady!

    Thanks for the add, BTW.

    Grim.

  3. I agree - although I have the Air Arms S310 myself, (which is the same the S410 but with fewer gimmicks) I have fired the S410 on several occasions. I must admit I never regret the day I got the 310, never had 1 minutes problems with it so far (touch wood) . Hope this helps you in making your decision mate, Grim
  4. Ok bud, as soon as i find it, i will post it here on THL in the "Airgunners, Spring & Precharged" section for you (or anyone else interested in the subject) - watch this space! It may take a week or so 'cos i have to set my drive up on my son's pc as my own died an ugly death - severe indigestion followed by an acute case of mobo burnout! lmao The stock you see in the pics was my first attempt, and took around 6 months to do ie., a few hours after work for a few evenings per week - sort of thing. Cheers, Grim
  5. You'll be limited on choice of PCP for that kind of money. You're looking at second hand and quality varies in extreme quantities. If you're looking at a serious rifle set up, for your budget, then don't rule out a springer set up. They're more than capable for what you're after. Give the author of this thread an offer for his gun, if he's looking to sell. It falls within your budget and if the condition is as good as he says it is it would be ideal for your purposes. ... and to be totally on the safe side make sure there are no pellets in the mag, and no mag in the gun... pellets
  6. It may take me wee while, but i will have a dig around on my old hard drive and see if i can find my write up of how i made mine for the S310, if that'll help? If you're interested, there are a few pics in my signature, (and also some more in my gallery - in my profile) hopefully they will give you a rough idea as to how things will go for you? Cheers, Grim
  7. thanks for that grim..............top man cheers sean No worries whatsoever mate - anytime. If we all help each other out with the bits and pieces of trivia that each of us know, our hunting lives will become so much easier for all concerned - there is after all, a wide knowledge/experience base here, and its rich for the picking, innit!? LOL Regards, Grim
  8. To Perlin: I agree with what you say about the Weihrauch mod - they are better than the AA ones (which in themselves are good enough, it has to be said). To Sean: As a rule, the Air Arms don't have threaded barrels, but you can get the adaptors that you bond to the barrel and they in turn have the required thread on thier end. All the best, Grim
  9. I would agree with the sentiments and statements that Sean and Maltenby have said wholeheartedly. Don't get disheartened at refusals, they do happen unfortunately, but you WILL get times where you get a 'yes' - and i think you'll find that these can come when - and from where, you least expect them If you're a bit stuck on what to put in a letter, or indeed how to put it, you could try These - just a little something i put together (mainly for myself at first), but i have no probs at all with the membership using them. They are there for you all to use if you want to. The only provis
  10. Went to the Crem today, and got two coneys in the attatched field within ten minutes of getting to my spot and getting set up - RESULT!! Number one was around 25 yards away, and was just sitting there chewing - slipped the trigger and an RWS Superdome went downrange and put him on the grass - dead before he hit the ground. I then saw number two then stick his head up and he sat on his hind legs to see what happened, and i just couldn't resist showing him - after all actions speak louder than words, eh? Well, except for when you've got the new Wierarch mod on board, that is!
  11. .177 all the way for me - once you know your ranges and the rifle well, you can put the pellet where it matters all day long. You could say its almost surgical i guess? lol Don't get me wrong, i ain't putting .22 down/slagging it off at all - each to his/her own, like. I have used .22 air rifles before and they were good - its just that i personally prefer .177 'A place for everything, and everything in it's place' is what i say. Regards, Grim
  12. 'Tis called 'Scrim net', LS177 - the 1st result of a google for a UK based company, using that as a search type was: This. Hope this helps you out some old son. Cheers, Grim
  13. 'Great minds think alike' and all that. Ahem! Grim.
  14. Hi guys, Now, although i haven't got my rifle cammed up as such, i AM working on an idea i have been contemplating over for a while now, and it basically consists of a 'sleeve' onto which i can place any type of foliage available to me at my shoot - whatever the type and shade which is there at the time i go there, sort of thing. The beauty of the idea is that it can then be totally removed from the rifle once i get home, and so is not a permanent fixture, like? I am going down this road because i just couldn't bear the thought of covering up my walnut stock in a permanent way you see
  15. Hi All, Just thought you might like to know . . . . . I have recently been in talks with another landowner (not too far from where i live, as it goes) and asking if he had anyone helping with the pest/vermin types i noticed on his land. He told me that he hadn't in fact got anyone, but that if i was interested then i could approach him on it. Unfortunately, I hadn't got anything on me at this first (and totally unexpected, i might add) meeting, and so i left my contact details and got his number to arrange a further meeting. All looking hopeful - so far, thought I. Lol And
  16. Good on you bud, keep it up! Regards, Grim
  17. Hello, welcome! Make yourself comfortable and enjoy the club Regards, Grim
  18. Welcome to THL - I hope you enjoy it here and find it useful! Fair play to you for admiting you are new to the game. We all have to start somewhere, and ok, you might ask questions that may have been asked and answered, but if a search proves not to be useful, just ask - I'm sure someone will be able to help you out in someway. As I always say, "If you don't ask, you'll never know!" All the best, Grim
  19. Hello and welcome Elmer - i hope you enjoy it here. Best of luck in your SGC application too. regards, Grim.
  20. Them rabbitses can't argue with that - good head shot mate. Start as you mean to go on etc. Well done! Grim
  21. Man after me own heart! I must admit, i prefer to snipe at my opportunities too - once they're above ground its a case of " phut . . . . .TWACK . . . . . Good night Vienna!!" Regards, Grim
  22. Hi guys, Yes as i understand things, you don't HAVE to be in posession of them while on your shoot, in order to shoot the birds mentioned within the individual licenses named. But I would say that it wouldn't be a bad thing if you had them in your posession, say, either in your shooting files, or on your pc system, if for no better reason than that you can then prove (if the need should arrise) that you are acting leagally where you have shooting permission. I would even go so far as to say that it may well help your game if you did have them to hand, like. I was in a situation on one
  23. From the time i posted my SGC app. off, it took about a month to come through. Having said that, from the day my FEO did the home visit, my SGC landed on my mat exactly a week later. I live in Kent though. Hope this gives you some indication for you? Regards, Grim
  24. Welcome, and enjoy! Regards, Grim
