  1. well the spar has been and proper hurt me this visit,i went out all day and left shed door open,forgot wire door was also open, the lad rings me on my way home and tells me a spar has been in and hes just disturbed it, as some will know tis is nothing new around me they come daily and sometimes sit on the flight,but this one enterd the shed and killed a pair of dimorphic canarys,a goldie cock and damaged a goldie mule,it had some how pulled the birds through the canary cage fronts,or at least part way ,this is the worst damage a spar has done me ,since I stopped keeping pigeons,and had to be s

  4. tom practise knit in them with wool or old twine/string mate, then use your bought nylon ect ,will save on waste ,every body makes a baxxs of a few nets at first, if they tell the truth, good luck

  6. do they still come in large numbers,years back we caught a load when tide was right it fetched them in to the harbour all the locals were at them ,that was at brixham and I had a good few from the shore at a spot called port eynon I think that trip was over 40 year ago,but great days.

  8. I have bred most types over the years,but I do like irish they are very busy compared to say borders,and they do make a nice mule.

  10. is it all irish fancy you keep fran ya yes russ I only keep a few pair,i only kept 3 pair this winter,they are all bred down from my old birds now gone that were club rung,i don't closed ring any these days or show they are just to please me and the kids/grandkids, will keep a few young birds this time with a bit o luck atb.

  14. do any youngsters make there own these days,i know there cheap enough to buy,but it was great to catch in your own made nets, and its good to have more than you need,going to find the needles out and do one or two for old times sake,will get a pic on when I get going showing the superior quality of my net making
  15. they and there kind are a disgrace,but not in the majority think most would only shoot as a last resort ,some folk cant be reasoned with .
  16. I tend to start a bit later because of location its bloody cold at mine in july go half hour to town and its a coat and hat warmer,saying that I wintered a few birds in a small flight this winter and they done fine ,outdoors . think I will plan on putin some pans in end march, atb.
  17. bit of topic but who would want a dog out with there other dogs that was not trust worthy around sheep,or a mates dog out that had pulled sheep befor,dont think its worth the risk good sound dogs seeing these bad habits myself,think a sheep worrier deserves a second chance but not a third jmo.
  18. that's down to location rob and fair enough if you never go in sheep country,but I have no land available that is not sheep farmers ,other people with dogs not broke to sheep have at times caused problems, but it is mostly pet owners or the odd stray.

  20. theres a lot of hot places that were ok for a few runs befor the drive the fields lads got into the game, the blocked gate openings ect aint for the odd old chap on foot with his dog after a run,some that drive have spoilt many areas,but each to there own.

  22. nice weather today,just cleaned the birds,got me thinking its not far away BREEDING TIME,when is everyone hopeing to let the birds get cracking,i start late as a rule because I have no electric lights ect, only natural light,whats others doing.
