Under 14 :- You may not use a section 1 firearm except for target shooting as a member of a Home Office approved rifle club.
Age 14 to 17 :- At the age of 14 you may be granted a firearms certificate and be given firearms & ammunition in accordance with the conditions specified on the certificate.
Over 17 :- You may buy a firearm & ammunition in accordance with the conditions set out on your certificate.
SHOTGUNS :-
Under 15 :- You can only shoot under the direct supervision of an adult over 21.
Age 15 to 17 :- You can be loaned or given a shotgun and cartridges

this bit is not quite true.
i know lads who have never seen the inside of a prison but cant get fac or sgc.
if the person is a habitual offender then he or she has no chance of ever getting either.
i know folk who have done time inside and now have both, the licensing department like to see a long time elapse before they will even consider a grant.just over 2 years is not long enough.
A person who has been sentenced to custody for life or to preventive detention, or to imprisonment or to corrective training for a term of three years or more or to youth custody or detention in a young offenders institution shall not at any time have a firearm or ammunition in his possession.

the bits you cut are the legs on the bullet follower,platfom,ramp.
did mine on a bench grinder. the trikky bit is you have to bend out whats left of the legs, to many trys and they snap.
