  1. Bout ye, Welcome to the forum. TT.
  2. Hello mate, Welcome to the forum. TT.
  3. Is anyone here aware of any change to the law which requires all Starter Pistols / Blank Firers / Replica Handguns to be painted a high visibilty colour ie hot orange? If so does this apply only to new guns purchased or do we need to paint our starter pistols? There were rumours here a few months ago, but I recently saw a starter pistol for sale in a local gunshop which had been produced with a hot orange coloured frame, black cylinder, trigger and hammer. YIS, TT.
  4. We use a single deek just to give the ducks a bit of extra confidence but we leave it there all the time. This probably isnt the best way to do it, but as we only shoot the pond as the finale in a walked up day, we would never remember to bring the deeks with us if they were removed each time. Good advice above, but the long and the short of it is, experiment, find out what works best on your pond and with your birds. Best of luck, TT.
  5. I would definately go for a Springer mate. A good handler does make a difference but if the pups arent from proven working stock (with papers or without) you are basically wasting your time in my opinion. Trying to save money by buying a pup that isnt from a good working home would be a false economy and a big mistake. You could probably get a Sprocker from good working parents quite cheaply, and obviously it wont have papers. Hope you get what you are after, good luck in the training when you get that far, and let us know how you get on. TT.
  6. Nice one mate, and a belated welcome. TT.
  7. Is anyone willing to take this on? There seems to be a genuine need for a 'How to...' post, plenty of guys on here with the experience to share. It would be a shame if the years of experience and depth of knowledge available on this site wasnt put to good use to help out the newbies, and to prevent some common myths about terrier work being accepted as gospel. TT.
  8. I personally would put it in the open end and take the chance of it getting nicked, if you put it in thick cover the birds wont feel happy feeding at it and it wont be serving its purpose. I take it that you are putting it in the water? You could chain and padlock it to a large heavy object which you could submerge under the water so it doesnt look too unsightly. I hope you get a solution youre happy with. All the best, TT.
  9. I dont have a lurcher, but my old German Shepherd caught a bloke breaking into my garage LOL. Now that was a course to watch. TT.
  10. Looks like a top day out, looks baltic too. Nice one. TT.

  17. Well done mate. They have the right man for the job obviously. Best of luck. TT.
  18. Good advice so far, only thing I would add Ian is only to feed enough so that there is none left in the morning, you want the birds to come in the evening but if there is too much feed, they will stay on the pond all day and then clear off to another pond in the evenings. Also only feed to depth less than the top of your wellies, otherwise it may be too deep for the dabbling ducks. We use barley as our birds seem to prefer it over wheat, if you plan to use an auto feeder the sooner you get it in situ the better as this will give the birds the most time to get used to it. Hope this helps a bit,
  19. Looks like a cracking day, great looking dog too. Cheers, TT.
  20. Lucky is right, maybe we should start a thread about the winning lottery numbers. LOL. TT.
  21. Shes a looker. Hope she works out well for you. Cheers, TT.
  22. Where are you from Bonny? Plasticpromotions in Portadown Northern Ireland do excellent boxes, custom made at cheaper rates than most of the big firms. You can google them or PM me for contact details if you like. Cheers, TT.
