  1. What you are trying to say. These are the types of people whom protest against hunting and some of them don't even know what F$%^&*g cow looks like. But they will sit in resteraunts eating chicken, meat and other farm produce from EEC states and South American countries who have poor farm husbandary practices and then they have the audacitacy to protest against us. (Did you know, on some farms in South America cattle are dipped to kill parasites. The dips were used here to dip sheep and were banned because the redues left behind caused CANCER!) Hypocrits, Sorry (f<>?*&a
  2. Hi I watched a program last night on C 4 "The Lie of The Land". The farmer went shooting at night with a 243. When he came back he showed the foxes he had shot. One fox had its entire chest blown out which would suggest, is that sort of power required to dispatch a fox. He also went on to say that a 243 was a preferred rifle to shoot foxes. Serious firearm. I don't shoot with a rifle as it is difficult to license a firearm in N. Ireland higher than a .22 Knifebar
  3. Hi I have a 12 bore 3 3/4 tons per sq inch and use a 36g No. 4 for foxes, hell I also use these to dispatch Magpies (Got one this morning at 50 metres with this cartridge). I have 28g, 7 1/2 cartridges and have'nt killed anything yet with them. I would be inclined not to use anything lighter than 4's for foxes. Kniferbar.
  4. Well, garden about 1/2 acre with open fields as back drop. (rural area). Using 12 bore shotgun. Knifebar
  5. Hi Forum, I have a number of rabbits in the field in front of my house and it would be very easy to shoot these B@~{}{P^&s as they have stripped my new fruit trees of bark. (Not sure of the tree will grow now or not). I was going to shoot them and have been told you cannot discharge a firearm after dark. Now I live in N. Ireland and I need to know if there are special rules governing firearms used in these circumstances in this particular region. Does someone know the legal position on this matter or would it be best to contact the PSNI to clarify this? Confused
  6. Hey I would use dead bait suspended from a float. A mackerel tail would be best, however if you can get your hands on some stinking cooking oil from a chip shop, inject it with a syringe into the mackerel. If you could find a good pike lake try to fish near a weeded area, although not many weeds this time of year. After about an hour if you have a second pike outfit, try using some pike spinners around your bait and even near the bottom. Some people also use pike plugs and retrieve them in a zig zag fashion. Hope this helps Knifebar
  7. How could I forget HORSE, it was some days craic. You caught a 3lb brown trout in the same pool , I can remember the rod bending right over, a local angler said a trout that size was never caught in the river. Sorry I had'nt a photo to give to them but we know better! If the line had a broke, I would be still be doin porridge! Lookin forward to a bit of ferreting some day. Knifebar
  8. Hi Clay Man Once I caught a wild Brown slightly over 1lb about 5-6 years ago in the local but all I can say it was no big shakes. Some of the fish I caught in the local gave me unbelievable scraps. It would be a bad season if I did'nt catch 12-18 Brownies over 2lb in the local, lots over 1lb. My best fish in the river was a 6 3/4lb pike on a worm. Hard to believe but I have a witness. Strangest thing lots of anglers in the local club would suggest there are no fish in the river but I could always catch fish. Knifebar
  9. Keep they ferrets working fit.

  10. You give up tooo easy Here it is http ://www1.agric.gov.ab.ca/$departme.../all/agdex3496 .. Brilliant thank you, it looks quite simple really, its hard to see how the magpie can't get back out. Although it must work if it has been tried. Many thanks john b Knifebar
  11. I fished for long periods on my local river with a fly, I tried hard not to fail but I never caught anything substantial like I would with a spinner. Maybe I am doing something wrong but I just can't seem to master it. (I have won a competition before on a lake, fishing from the shore for Rainbows.) Knifebar
  12. At the back end of October I had one fish 3 3/4 lb, cock brown fish paired with a female, caught it on a spinner. It was released to spawn, did'nt get a photo. Must do in future so I can post here for other members to see. Knifebar
  13. Hello Macconraoi I tried your link but can't seem to find anything. It refers to bee keeping. I am currently making a Trap, Big Fish has posted and hopefully this should work. Although the trap you suggested can trap more than two Magpies. I will keep searching again on the link you gave me. As I where I live here in Ireland, there are numerable birds. 15. It depends on how you look at it! Knifebar
  16. Dear Forum, I have been fishing since I was child, I fished alsorts of waters. Does anyone agree that using spinners is more productive than using the fly on rivers. I have had limited sucess using flies on the river. Knifebar
  17. look mate if yor not interested in the sale dont f*****g comment its as simple as that How much does he want for the lot? Knifebar
  18. Hi Bryan, You have my support, I think to is scandalous the whole escpade with the hunt license for the Ward Union Hunt. I have heard some snippets as to what ot going on and how Mr Ahern washed his hands of the whole thing even though he said he would grant a license. He passed the buck. ( Excuse the Pun). Hunt Supporter Knifebar. P.S. I have friends whom ride to hounds with this pack.
  19. I like to go fly fishing when i get the time. Also very keen vegetable grower, was very sucessful this year. Knifebar
  20. Good God, what sort of brute would eat a Mixie rabbit! If things was that bad you could always eat a squirrel! Knifebar
  21. Dear Forum, Last year I watched magpies hunt song birds close to my house(rural). I watched them hunt them in packs of between 4 and 14. Last season lots of evidence of small birds feathers, eggs and the remains of their nests I have found in the fields and close my hose as result of these birds. (Remember I watched Magpies do this). I have started dispatching these birds in order to curb their antics but since I have dispatched two Magpies they have multiplied and they are numerous (excess of 13) around my house. They have become difficult to get near and even have spotted me hi
  22. Hello , Real good question. I wondered this and could never understand how the barrell ruptures or distorts before the snow or mud comes out. If there are any scientists out there could explain the laws of physics it would answer an age old question! (Snow is stronger than steel, seemingly). Regards Knifebar
  23. Hello all, Just started ferretting with a friend last week, (It was bitter cold). I never did this before. At first we tried for a few hours at different borrows but not 1 rabbit, we began to think the ferret was not working but then we moved to another part of the farm and bingo Rabbits Rabbits Rabbits. We had good sport, then the snow came on, undetered we continued and it was brilliant. This was the first ferret sport I had and I am hooked. Can't wait till next hunting trip. Yours Knifebar
  24. Thank you all I will pass on information, would it be fair to say he would be better to replace the barrell to ensure safety as guns needs to be treated with respect and care for user. The gun is not worth a great deal so he could replace quite cheaply. Kind regards Knifebar
  25. I have a pair or those thinsulate gloves where the finger velcro's back so you can shoot. A must for any hunter as I was out ferreting last week one chap had no gloves, could'nt shoot with the cold, I had gloves and got some good shooting. They're a must for anyone hunting this time of year. Knifebar
