  1. I have the mk3 and love it now, I found it a bit difficult at first and had the attitude of, "I'll wait, the ferret will come out" but i have used it all this season and actually enjoy the digging now, i'm spot on with the locator, and end up with more rabbits, I went out a couple of weeks ago and out of the 25 rabbits we had, i dug to 13 of them, so you can see the potental of them. Good luck, stick with it.
  2. That's the trouble when you buy em down the pub Harry. you get no warranty
  3. This is just an Idea, but the for sale section is getting out of hand, one ad on there has 112 replies, but not one offer, surely for sale ads can be locked and answered through PM's, it would also stop people constanly bumping ads.
  4. Totaly agree, but if you think it's bad now, wait till the summer holidays, loads of keyboard warriors then But at the end of the day if you don't want to get involved in an argument then DON'T, The idiots on here can't argue with themselves. (well, maybe some can) Me personally, i don't mind a good row, but I'm selective, I like an educated battle of wits, and many on here come unarmed.
  5. Seen a few mixy around here, but it hasn't been too bad this year.
  6. So, is it powerfull enough for rabbits then?
  7. I think it's great you got homes for your kitts, maybe i was wrong, are they good homes? what did you do to check the homes they are going too?, i asume that you want the best for your kitts yes? Or do you just sell to whoever pays what you are asking?
  8. I don't think the price of a ferret would make any difference to whether people look after them or not, look at the pedigree dogs that get shoved from piller to post, I have give away a few ferrets to friends and people from this site, one got me 18,000 acres of permission. , Others have promised me stuff, but never follow up. All my ferrets have been free, but they live a great life because i care for my ferrets, not just an investment, if ferrets were a lot of money people would be breeding them wholesale, crammed in cages. I will be breeding my best working hob this year, soley because
  9. £10 a kitt in mid june, I think you will have a bit of competition on here mate, there are usually hundreds of them free to good homes, you'll proberbly be better off on a pet site, most hunting guys don't need to pay for ferrets.
  10. Superb dog mate, i've had 2 over the last 20 yrs, well underestimated guard dog in mho. Good luck with the sale, whats he like with other dogs? both of mine were a bit dominant to say the least.
  11. Nice fish that , i'm still waiting to get over 20lb, had a few 19+, Maybe this will be my year.
  12. A bit of both, Mainly fairley open and we didn't do anything too overgrown, i must admit it aint as much fun digging anything over 4ft in the pissing rain with thorns digging in ya neck, but that is the beauty of the hob i have, you can always wait for him if you don't want the dig He will come out.
  13. Cycling, Fishing,(mainly carp, but a bit of float with my son) And general dogs body around the house. Oh, and drinking, then winding some of the people up on THL.
  14. Only had young on the inside, none in the warrens yet. My mate sold ten of them, I had 11 which will mainly be ferret food, and a couple for my tea, and another pal that i go out with had four for the freezer. I don't always get as many as that on my permissions, but the farm i went to on Sunday is Huge and has warrens every bloody where.
  15. A little Border terrier, not what some of the lads on here would call a "working dog" But she works the warrens and the bushes good enough for what i want. Would like to bring on a colliexwhippet, to finish my team off.
  16. Looks like a cracking day out there lads, Nice one. I really gotta get me a rabbiting dog, just the problem of a missus to overcome, Will swap a 30yr old bitch, Had all her jabs and from good working stock, for a young colliexwhippet bitch if anyone is interested
  17. Well done Vin and Luke Looks a cracking little dog now mate, at the end of the day, your family love her as a pet, so you'll get a great return for your cash and kindness however she turns out in the field, that might just be the icing on the cake for you. Good luck with her.
  18. Nice one Swampy Good to see the youngsters getting into a healthy hobby. She looks well chuffed mate. Here is my boy on his first trip out. That isn't the gun he used on the rabbit though.
  19. Thanks for the replies guys, I agree, the albino Hob at the top of the picture is one that a friend of mine found last summer, he was skinny as a rake, and bit me the first time i picked him up, but after a bit of grub and TLC he has turned out to be an Excellent worker, Tends to kill alot underground, so digging is usually order of the day, He will always come up after a kill, but i don't like to lose the rabbit ( hence the need for a locator in my mind, but everyone to their own) And he will make sure a warren is clear before he keeps coming up, Lost track of the amount of times other
  20. been ferreting years never ever used a locator i got one of a mate 3 years ago still in the box lol and i want be using one . never had to wait more than 30 min for my ferrets to come out. my dad did ferreting for 30 years had over 40 ferrets and he never used one to My hob ferret will ALWAYS come out after a kill, but i dug to him 13 times today with a locator, that made for an extra 13 rabbits in the bag, that was 1 day, god knows how many rabbits your dad lost in 30 yrs. You'll always have the old school saying "i never used locators", well my grandad remembers when they never used
