  1. Can't believe the number of chaps involved in the rent -boy /porn industry on here. Respect . I remember my first night on the job. Came home with a sore bum, matted hair and £244.50p . "Who gave you the fifty pence ?" asked my girlfriend . Struggling to sit down ,I managed to open my sticky lips wide enough to mutter ,"They all did!". I stuck with it for a while but most of my clients wanted their money back.....
  2. ..Look at his colour..If I was a hen pheasant ,well, "I would".
  3. Had one last year built around the frame, mudguard and back-wheel of a bicycle taking -in the spokes and chain .Of course the chances of coming across one like it this coming season are nil because I have a new camera !
  4. Yep ,it is a "Nye".If I had my vintage OED to hand I could tell you its linguistic origins an all that but it's at home.Think it refers to a family group ,ie Hen and her brood .
  5. Was this just before he looked down and announced "Oh look my willie seems to be a bit dirty perhaps you would help me clean it".
  6. Great .You can almost read what he's thinking,"Right act cool .I'll slip off this way. Bugger the bloke with the camera is still there,,Sh*t ,he's got dogs as well .Try the other way .Damn ,a river .Don't panic. To hell with playing it cool .I'm off!" Great pics.
  7. Good question, mate. Blowed if I know. But, if ye consider how Common Toads are noted for living a hell of a long time ..... Metabolic rate of an ice cube, I s'pose they just don't wear themselves out so quickly? Tried Google for 'Newt Longevity'? Well prompted DS.I've yet to realise the wonder of the Internet.I'd 've cycled down the library after work :icon_redface .Alpine can live 20 years,G Crested up to 25 in captivity - looking at 10-15 years plus for most smaller species.
  8. Hello UK shooter.Camera is my new(ish) toy. Pentax Optio S10 just a little portable digital . Hello DS . When I started seeing the Alpine newts, to be honest, in my ignorance I first thought the male and female were different species they are so unalike. I'd like to try and get some pictures of the edibles when they become active but they are pretty quick off the mark and really good at blending -in with the water lilies .My little camera might be under- lensed for the task but I'll give it a go. Out of interest ,how long do newts live ? years ago I took a garden pond from a skip a
  9. Smoothies, but according to my 2yr old Grandson these are "cocadiles."
  10. Alpine male and female I think These are naturalised locally along with edible frogs..They were in three big ponds and at least one garden pond I know of but thanks to twats introducing" anagram fish"(Crap)they have been wiped-out in two of the bigger ponds .
  11. Customer gave me a box of books today. Strangly one titled "How to offend people in their own languages", caught my eye.I now know enough foreign sentences to ensure I get my head kicked- in almost anywhere in the World. Apparently the word "Pajero" in Spanish means ," one who ,er, plays with onself".To think I used to feel a bit of a gimp when I told folk I drove a Rascal. Any other vehicle names that suffer in translation?.

    Weather

I refuse to take part in this base attempt to perpetuate racial stereotyping.Finding this post ,clearly contrived to bolster the myth of Britain's fictitious obsession with the weather, has been the third thing to really p*ss me off today. The first was when I woke up to realise that there had'nt been a shower of overnight rain to boost my grass-seed and the second disappointment came when a friend phoned to inform me that we might have to call a sea-fishing trip off because although it is nice and warm there is a risk of an uncomfortable breeze.
  13. Those who've gone before have given good advice .Pignuts' "don't be afraid of being firm " to gain the dogs' attention is very good advice.I'd add ,don't ever be too embarrised to tell your dog off in public or it will learn to take the micky when there are people around . Another tip is to walk the pup alongside a wall in such a way as it can't squeeze in front of you. You admit that you hav'nt the strength to physically control the pup and you can bet your life the dog realises this. I know she is considered a bit un-PC but some of old Barbara Woodhouse's stuff is worth a read for this sor
  14. A lot of people are paid with our tax money to perpetuate this sort of thing .Specialist Lawyers and a whole Gravy Train of support groups are effectivly guilty of aiding International terrorism at all levels. People who would be naturally horrified at having their own children riddled by shrapnel cannot or choose not to see the hypocrisy of hiding behind bogus shields of "Human Rights and Political Correctness" .They see nothing wrong with lining their own pockets whilst at the same time endangering decent people of all cultures and races.
  15. Hargreaves ,Drabble,DBP,Ted W, Dick Walker and now Fred Taylor .All clever enough to juggle careers with their love of fieldsports and fishing and find time to convert their experiences into film and print to be shared with others. All people who've held me spellbound at various times almost and all gone.Peter Stone -another loss- relates some classic and a not a little risque tales of night- fishing with Fred Taylor. Let's hopeTed Walsh was right in his theory of the existance of Ellysian hunting Fields in the after -life. It must be quite a place.
  16. Brill pic. Bit of a Milman on the computer but its so good it spurred me to vote for it(I hope I did vote and not join some deviant on-line fetish club by accident).Good luck with it.
  17. I'd be tempted to put them through letter boxes along with one of my business cards
  18. Cony I's jealous -mine don't go and DS I is really chuffed for you
  19. If they do stop ,throw yourself flat on the ground .If they are in a herd fallow will often turn to face you&come back for a look .Bit like dressing in wolf-skin to get in bow range. It's how I got this pic(without the wolf -skin or bow). I crawled away and they just watched me go and set about grazing again.
  20. 50 / 60 holes would be a small bury on some of our chalky ground and like your' burrows might be nice and open but tend to be deep. Wait for winter like everyone says .Less chance of young bunnies to cause lay-ups ,less chance of non-bolting territorial does and less chance of hormonal ferrets. Start early in the day to allow plenty of time for working the burrow through and to allow for any waiting time or lay-ups.If the digging is really bad you may well have to settle -in for a long wait .I'd make sure my freds were well-fed too. Some might say that would take the edge off their huntin
  21. Yes ,agree with just about everyone ,probably is a Baikal.Has it got what appears to be a brown bakalite butt -piece? There were a few Baikal hammer-guns turning up "as new "certainly up until 15 years ago because a mate bought one .Guess what ? Only one barrel worked properly.Rest of the gun -incredibly over-engineered and sturdy .
  22. Think it was Nellie the Woolly- Mammoth .Might've been something by Nick Cave or the Sacred Rolling Stones.I know everyone hated T Rex -so yesterday.Cliff Bl**dy Richard was about though.Ah, Sabre-Toothed Tygers of Pang Tang. "What's that nurse?" ."I've got a visitor".Best take these underpants off my head and behave before they sedate me ,take me to the day room and make me watch Randolph Scott westerns with the sound turned down.
  23. A good mate can't get Broadband where he lives and his children do all their homework using either his books or those from the library. They consistantly recieve better marks and higher praise for the originality of their work than their class-mates and come open day its his childrens' work on the class-room walls.
  24. Don't know if you candled to check developement of the chicks ,assuming they were fertile,24 days for pheasants is right .As long as you have the humidity&heat right I should resist the urge to fiddle .The humidity is important as it helps the chick break out of the membrane by keeping it supple.Don't let the heat & humidity out until you are happy nothing else is going to hatch which might occur over a period of several hours .Patience and good luck.
  25. Mole poo.Sorry, could'nt resist it.The novelty of the new camera still has'nt worn off.
