I still might get a spaniel socks. Going to see a few work this winter. I've never liked them. But we will see. Either way I won't be doing away with the Plummer so need to take the precautions in future.
-
Nice one fella. I've ordered a bellman and will probably get GPS too.
-
Any pics of your Plummer mustelid?
-
Mine is the same as yours mate. Dropped in a few times but never stayed long and only had to dig her out once and to be honest I think she would of come out then, but I wasn't far from home to get a shovel and she wasn't too deep so I whipped her out. I think this time she got stuck. GPS and bellman was the way I was thinking but if the bellmans are as good as these lads are saying then that might do the job. £370 for rechargeable collar and box brand new which I think would be money well spent after the week of stress I've just had.

Ive said in the other thread mate I will get a bellman but don't see how that would of helped me here. She had f****d off on a long line on a huge expanse of ground and could of been anywhere. You need to know what set she is in really for a locator surely? unless you know where every set is within a 5 mile radius and check them all... There made to search a mountian side after a avalanche for a person,so yeah mate they will deffo help you find a dog lost out there, you'd just have to grid search an area and mark it off on a map type thing and a decent finder will cover 50 meters so you'd zig

So which is it then fella? You work your dogs all over the country or you only work them where you know the location of every single hole like you told me to do earlier? I'm getting confused here. Lol. I can't stop her killing ferrets with a shock collar so I don't think I'm gonna stop her dropping below if she wants to go. It's one of the problems with taking on older dogs but I wasn't naive or unaware. It is what it is.

I suppose it's the same as lurchers really. Under 23" category for example. You can get all shapes and sizes. 3/4 bull to 3/4 whippet and everything in between. Rough. Smooth. Long. Short. Fat. Thin. Judge just picks one he likes the look and feel of as far as I know? think lurchers have more ideals than a busher after all no matter the type x they are designed to run are they not, take my bushers up cumbria be waste time although they are probably leggy enough to cover some ground they not going to follow on scent for miles like some them lads require yet down here tight cover they spot

Hard as f**k these plummers mate. Lol. I find it hard to believe too but I don't see much other explanation? Caked in mud, eyes closed up with shit, nails worn down to the toes, lost close on 2kg and dehydrated to the point she couldn't stand. If she had been to ground and surfaced a few days earlier then she would of been found earlier surely and would of found food and water. She was found at the pub a few hundred yards from the ground I lost her on and where I park my car. Lads said they saw her come off the land and straight to the car park covered in mud and knackered. Like you

You mad? These plummers fetch 300 notes a piece papered up... Time for her to retire and take up life as a mother wouldnt expect anything less coming from a plummer owner either way glad you got it back no good useless mutt I reckon she flushed more stuff on way back to the car in her 5 day starved and dehydrated state than them things of yours will all season Lol. Nice one mate. I'm glad she's back too. Wasn't nice not knowing. been sitting on a grannys lap all week eating chocolate biscuits, quick roll in a puddle on the way home to cover its arse Don't think she's been eating

Haha I like your thinking. Plummer won't be going anywhere mate anyway. She's easy enough to keep and has been good as gold in the house since she come back so she can live her days out here whatever happens. If I decide go down the spaniel route then missus wouldn't take any persuading. I just want to see a few work over the coming season because I've never really liked them.

Cheers fellas. She's a different dog to the one that I lost on Thursday. She's been through quite an ordeal I'm guessing. Physically she is on the mend. Fully hydrated and eating 4 meals a day to get her weight back up. I've sorted her eyes and feet with salt water. They look much better today. It will just take time to see how she mends up mentally I suppose.

Yeh she was crying when she came home mate
-
Can't believe this pup is still up for grabs.
-
Bump. I hope you find her.
-
I think I only did what was right mate. Been getting out looking for her after work for 4-5 hours. Getting to bed about 11am. Getting back up at 2pm to look for her before work and putting posters up. Had 3 hours sleep every day for last 5 days. But I owe it to her and would do it for all my dogs. And more so for my little girl.

Sorry to hear about your Russell fella. I had been checking the sides of all local roads everyday expecting a similar outcome to be honest.
