  1. Mostly tawnys and little owls here. Very rare to see anything else.
  2. The nest they use each year is in a hollow of a dead alder, they nest on a ledge with a hole just below, which this fella fell through. Or he was pushed He was put back
  3. Found this fella out of the nest
  4. Oh dear!! Don't give up your day job. Lol
  5. I occasionally get the odd trap shy mole whilst using tunnel traps and the usual back fillers but a talpex always sorts them out. I have had vanishing moles which completely disappear or just Sod off for a week and return. That can leave you scratching your head at times. What intrigues me more though is the strangest places they pop up. I had one push up in a raised bed in the centre of a huge tarmaced car park. I also find them in the strangest places on a golf course I do. No hills or evident runs and the sandiest infertile, worm free tees. Beggars belief sometimes.
  6. dont knock it till you have tried it and there is plenty to do if you think about it Fair play to you. But it's not for me.
  7. I couldn't think of anything more soul destroying and boring than being sat on my arse for eight hours plus doing feck all
  8. Looking good rob. Nice one.
  9. The hood does come off but I'm not selling it separately. LOL
  10. same type of ground as my mox, Grand in fair weather. I was checking out all the stoat tracks shadowing the rabbits, comical really! A track would run 40yds out from the walls and end in a latrine of sorts with both sets of prints, the stoats fresher than the rabbits. Then end in nothing! Must be hard for them in these conditions. But a good indication as to where to drop a sneaky fenn or BG
  11. Well in pal, all the best
  12. And what joel said, get it edited you pleb
  13. I am mown out with work but the weather just isn't playing ball so I have to get in what I can when I can. Since the beginning of jan we have had around a weeks worth of ideal weather. A day here and there. And don't get me started about waterproofs! That's becoming an expensive outlay.
  14. Back to the original thread: All credit to you for working in those conditions. I ventured out the other day and set some traps, but we don't have snow. The persistent rain keeps that away. It's bad enough working in the wet let alone sub-zero. I would gladly welcome some of the wet stuff Le Brac, Today was only trap retrive. A good dozen traps were reset but i wouldnt be hiking the moors in snow to go and set some. I have tried to keep the job going over winter but im beat at every hurdle with the weather. Im just anticipating the minus 5's and the ground freezing to concrete. No traps i
  15. LOL, Pip, as far as im aware moles were never made in to trousers Moleskin refers to the weave and pile of the fabric. I couldnt imagine somebody stitching a few hundred pelts togeather. But i bet it has been done
  16. Moles dont have any real value and im afraid the days of proper moleskin trousers have long since passed
  17. It can have its days Downhill all the way, granted some of it on my arse I bet you get a good chorus of skylarks up there in a few month. If you need a hand lugging shit about or just being picked up off the deck give me a nod, I enjoy a good wander to wjile away the time. Along with the lappys and curlews, it is a grand chorus on a good day
  18. A bit of both, swings and roundabouts
  19. Just the dozen pip but it all adds to the tally. Its my job, there is no way on gods green i would be braving what the elements can throw at you up there for fun
  20. It can have its days Downhill all the way, granted some of it on my arse
  21. I had to go and dig up some traps that i put down at the weekend just as the weather was turning, Its a bleak spot without the addition of the snow and ice. The snow is two foot deep in places and sheet ice everywhere else. Couldnt drag the bike up there so it was shanksys pony for a couple of miles. I had a few traps trampled on and sprung by the rabbits chewing the bark off my markers and the odd one or two just frozen solid. Im looking forward to this weather fookin right off. Happy trapping
  22. Apologies mate. I overlooked your reply. Thanks anyway.
